This week on the Daly Dose, we bring you our annual 2025 College Football preview, but first we have some BONUS content for you! We are joined by Brady Kellogg who is making an appearance on behalf of a group called Positive Athlete! Then, we dive into the upcoming College Football season! We discuss the newly revamped CFB Playoff and then dive into our conference breakdowns, beginning with the ACC and the Big 12. Can Clemson repeat as ACC Champions, or are there other contenders like Miami, SMU or North Carolina? Are Kansas State, Utah, Texas Tech or any other teams from the Big 12 ready to unseat Arizona State in their bid to repeat as conference champs? As Week 0 arrives, we get you ready for College Football as only we can!
On Thursday's episode, we made our predictions for Michigan's impending sanctions coming out of the Conor Stallions saga. On Friday, the verdict came in. Ross Dellenger may now also be called Nostradamus because he was spot on with his predictions. Over $30-million in fines and a three-game suspension for head coach Sherrone Moore were the main highlights from the ruling. Andy Staples and Steven Godfrey join Ross in recapping the reaction to the ruling and discussing where Michigan goes from here.Expanding the College Football Playoff has been a talking point since the format's inception. It has grown from four to twelve teams, but that does not seem to be enough to some in college football. While sixteen seems to be a natural progression, a much larger number was suggested recently. Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti threw out the idea of a 28-team playoff and sent the college football world into an uproar. Was this suggestion just a ruse for a more preferable plan? Why was this the only playoff idea that was reported on? How realistic is a 28-team playoff? The guys answer all of these questions and more as they look toward the future of the College Football Playoff.Later in the show, they discuss Virginia Tech's athletic director, Whit Babcock, and his presentation to the university's Board explaining where college football is headed and his pressing need for more funding. What might a super league look like in the college football landscape and how close are we to its arrival? Is the constant desire for change and money ruining the sport for the fans? Andy, Ross and Steven explain the crossroads college football is at after Babcock's comments. Finally, there was a recent change in the FPI over the weekend. A change that came without any games being played and not much notable news that affects the product on the field. Some SEC teams were bumped up and some ACC teams were knocked down. This appears to be all the motivation needed for SMU head coach Rhett Lashlee to call the system out for being “rigged.” The guys discuss coach Lashlee's comments and give their own thoughts on the importance of the FPI.Plus, the guys end the show with some breaking news about Auburn and the four new national football titles they picked up somewhat arbitrarily on Tuesday morning! (0:57) - Reaction to Michigan's sanctions(10:17) - Will a 28-team playoff actually happen?(28:38) - Whit Babcock's plea for money and concern over a potential super league(53:12) - Rhett Lashlee bashes recent FPI change(1:04:48) - Auburn claims new national titles Subscribe to the College Football Enquirer on your favorite podcast app:

Richard and Alex preview 2025 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, discussing the league in the following order: * Clemson, now with a light sprinkling of transfers, has every ingredient * Miami's defense should finally arrive, but will Mario Cristobal come through on the margins? * Louisville has both of us excited * SMU is graded on a different curve now, and on that curve, it has work to do* Georgia Tech is in its best spot since we started podcasting * Duke might be a better team … with a worse record * Florida State (coming off a 2-10 season with one FBS win over Cal by five points) * North Carolina is one of the ACC's more interesting teams even before you get to the Belichick of it all * Pitt has offensive firepower, elite linebackers, and a lot to figure out anyway after sputtering to end 2024* Virginia Tech isn't out of reasons for optimism, but it's getting there* NC State shows worrying signs of a program in decline, but does have a QB of the future * Syracuse gets a bad schedule draw and will decline in Fran Brown's second year* Boston College shows good and bad signs under Bill O'Brien * Virginia has certainty at QB and uncertainty at a lot of other places * Cal appears to be heading toward the end with Justin Wilcox * Wake Forest straps in for a rebuild * Stanford is interesting for the long term, but check back after 2025Then we share our nominees for preseason awards: the SZD Dude of the Year, the Low-Key Cool Game of the Year, the Minority Coach of the Week In an Interesting Schematic Spot (of the Year), and the Coach Who's Not Gonna Be Here Next Year. With Paul Catalina & Craig Smoak Tyler Budge joins 365 Sports to discuss why the Michigan vs. Western Michigan game in Germany just doesn't make sense and who this international scheduling is really for. He shares why neutral-site matchups like this may miss the mark, especially compared to traditions like Notre Dame-Navy in Ireland or Cal-Hawaii in Australia. Tyler also reflects on the chaos of ACC Media Days, the buzz around Belichick, and why programs like SMU and Georgia Tech are getting overlooked. Plus, we talk SEC expansion avoidance, the Big 12's evolving media presence, and why Alabama—not Texas—might still be the SEC's top dog in 2025. Learn more about your ad choices. He also weighs in on Mike Elko's early success at Texas A&M, the state's talent pipeline, and why in-state recruiting remains one of the biggest challenges for top programs. Craven also explains the high-stakes relationship between college and Texas high school coaches, NIL's impact on player movement, and how straight-line recruiting is colliding with the realities of modern college football. After the Kansas Board of Regents ordered all DEI eliminated from state universities there was still a question if KU would try to resist the directive. But on Tuesday, KU Chancellor Doug Girod issued a memo to all employees emphatically directing them to dump pronouns and a whole bunch of other crazy stuff by July 31. What a great day for KU! Tariff deals are in place now with the Philippines and Japan. The deal with Japan is massive and unprecedented and the Philippines deal is gloriously lopsided in the favor of USA. Trump unloaded on Barack Hussein Obama Tuesday indicating he's guilty of treason and every other word you can think of and they have Obama "stone cold." Well, there's no backing off this now. ESPN has started its football coverage, normally very good, in terrible fashion. We have examples featuring the Chiefs and Cowboys. Adam Sandler is starring in Happy Gilmore 2 beginning Friday on Netflix and had some really great comments about Travis Kelce in the movie. Salvy's two home runs Monday night have a really great side story as he took two boys out of the stands after the game and gave them bats. They were boys he didn't know and this story is the stuff of legend. The two candidates running for Mayor of Overland Park both indicate the Royals at 119th and Nall is unwanted by their residents. One candidate goes as far as to say over 95% of people in the area hate it. And our Final Final is the SMU football coach blasting the SEC.
The Big Ten preseason poll is out, and Penn State has been picked for the No. 1 spot. On this episode, Jason Whitlock breaks down the rankings and argues that Nittany Lions head coach James Franklin is over-rated and will not, despite the hype, be winning the Big Ten championship. Franklin, who Whitlock labels the "Great Black Hope,” is the conference's Gerry Cooney: The wins on his record have been racked up against such non-heavy hitters as SMU and Boise State, while his teams' performance against top teams has been pitiful. PSU rival Ohio State is another Big Ten favorite, and Franklin's teams have a 1-10 record against the Buckeyes and eight straight losses. Later in the show, Whitlock discusses Jerry Jones' latest eyebrow-raising press conference and how the 82-year-old is now an old man incapable of not speaking the truth. Whitlock revisits the list of nominees for Purple Hearts earned by combating woke sports, as well as sports-fan demands submitted by listeners (and some they rejected). In the wake of The Cosby Show actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner's untimely death, Whitlock rounds out the show with a can't-miss rundown of the greatest-ever black sitcoms.
