In a game LOADED with drama, Kansas State managed to outlast 3rd-ranked TCU in overtime 31-28 to claim the third Big 12 Championship in program history. The Wildcat defense turned away TCU on a 4th and Goal play in the first overtime period. When the Wildcats took their possession, it was placekicker Ty Zentner who delivered the game-winning 31-yard field goal to lift the Wildcats to the victory. Kansas State's Deuce Vaughn was named the game's most outstanding player after accounting for 160 all-purpose yards and one touchdown. The win gave coach Chris Klieman his first Big 12 Championship as well as his third victory over an AP Top 10 team this season. In this game recap, Jeff Burkhart @jeff_burkhart contextualizes the victory, analyzes key stats and performers on both sides of the ball, discusses this team's standing in K-State Football lore, and offers a few thoughts regarding K-State's bid to play Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. Chris Klieman, head coach of the Kansas State Wildcats, joined The Drive to discuss his team upcoming matchup with TCU in the Big 12 title game.
Jon & Todd are back for the Monday Night session. We begin by discussing the unbelievably disappointing loss to the Wisconsin Badgers. The good news is the season is almost over. I surprised Todd with a discussion topic concerning the dichotomy of how people feel about CEOs getting paid tons of money versus fans wanting colleges to throw tons of money at any coach to make sure they get the guy they want. I've always felt this was a little weird. We spent most of this show taking comments from fans. There was much “new coach” talk, with Todd and I discussing names like Luke Fickell, Chris Klieman, Lance Leipold, Deion Sanders. Someone asked about the men's basketball team. I watched part of the first half against Arkansas Pine Bluff. Nebraska was down at half, 39-36, so I didn't watch the second half. My rotten son informed me that Arkansas Pine Bluff had a Kenpom rating of around 350, so I just felt bad about myself and missed our beloved Huskers coming together and blowing out their opponent. Advice on men's basketball? Take it one game at a time. Fans want to know when Nebraska will announce the new coach. I'd say probably next Sunday or Monday. Keep in mind our next coach is likely still coaching another team. Iowa Coming Up - are they beatable? Yes. The key is not making mistakes, but forcing them to make them. It'd be nice to end the season on a high note. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
The week of Thanksgiving is a mess. To make it simple Husker247 has recorded a podcast combining all the banter and chatter you've come to expect from the Husker247 Podcast with the fly-by-night analysis and insane predictions the come from the Husker247 HypeCast. Please enjoy the first ever ComboCast! Things start, after Mike Schaefer gets everyone nice and hyped, with a look back at the loss to Wisconsin. What worked. What didn't. Who stood out? And where do things sit as the Huskers head into Iowa. Then Schaefer and Brian Christopherson spend 20 minutes on the coaching search with much of that time walking through the information about Bronco Mendenhall surfacing, where Matt Rhule could fit, how an AD has to work around all sorts of landmines to make a hire and the latest on Chris Klieman and Lance Leipold. Finally a few thoughts on the future of Mickey Joseph. The podcast finishes as Michael Bruntz returns to talk Iowa and the trio make relatively deflating predictions, single out a few performers and mercifully end the podcast before spending too much time talking about the upcoming game. A chaotic first half did not derail 15th-ranked Kansas State as the Wildcats offense torched West Virginia 48-31 at Milan Puskar Stadium in Morgantown, WV. Kansas State's Will Howard threw for 294 yards and two touchdowns while also running in another score. The Wildcat defense was led by Brendan Mott, who registered three sacks in the victory. Cincere Mason and Julius Brents also picked off passes for the K-State secondary. K-State head coach Chris Klieman cleared yet another hurdle in winning in Morgantown for the first time in his four years as head coach. The 48 points proved to be most by a K-State team on the road in Big 12 play since the Wildcats rang up Texas Tech for 49 back in 2013. In this game recap, Jeff Burkhart @jeff_burkhart contextualizes the Wildcats' frenetic win, grades the Cats on the keys to victory, and sets the stage for K-State's upcoming contest against archrival Kansas. Kansas State has an inside track in the race to be TCU's opponent in the Big 12 Championship Game. The Wildcats can clinch a spot this weekend. For that to happen, the Cats would have to win at West Virginia and Texas would need to lose at Kansas. Easier still: K-State would also be in with two straight wins, meaning at WVU and against. KU the following week. K-State's Big 12 title-game chances have see-sawed in recent weeks, but one common thread is the performance of backup quarterback WIll Howard. The Wildcats' offense runs better with Howard under center than it does with starter Adrian Martinez at the controls, and that's in spite of the fact Martinez is having a good season. Injuries have forced coach Chris Klieman to make some pivotal decisions about playing time. On today's episode of The Star's SportsBeat KC podcast, beat writer Kellis Robinett speculates about where the Cats will go from here. Also, we talk K-State basketball and the return to action of Keyontae Johnson. Once an SEC preseason player of the year at Florida, Johnson has missed most of the past two seasons while recovering from a heart ailment. He was named the Big 12's newcomer of the week and is off to a great start in 2022-23. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
Kevin joins Spencer for the weekend episode. K-State has their guy at QB moving forward, and coach Chris Klieman knows it. KU out-gained Texas Tech and lost by 15, that one was a head-scratcher. Missouri was clearly out-matched against Tennessee, and their defense regressed, can the Tigers still make a bowl game? All that and more!

With no video, no motive and no real information on why an illegal alien, drug addicted, BLM, Pride Flag waving lunatic broke into Pelosi's house in a sanctuary city... it couldn't get stranger, right? Wrong. Now David DePape's own defense attorney seems to be on the side of the Pelosi's. You have to hear what this lawyer said to media and the signal it sent. You can't get lower than zero but the Star has hit that mark again, this time against Mark Alford. The former tv anchor is about to win the Missouri 4th congressional seat with ease so the Star decides to write a hit piece on how difficult it was for "former employees" at Fox 4 to work with the anchor. This story reads like it should be in the Babylon Bee. The Cook Political report has moved ten more races to the right but Kansas District 3 and the Kansas Governor's race are not among them. In sports, everyone knows the Houston Astros cheated to win the World Series a few year ago. Now, it's Philadelphia, within the rules, that noticed Houston's game three starter tipping his pitches. So funny. Five homers later the Phils had a 7-0 win. And Kansas State has a HUGE game against Texas Saturday night in Manhattan and coach Chris Klieman is staying mum on which quarterback he's using. Normally, two quarterbacks is a sign you aren't good enough. In this case, Klieman could use them like chess pieces to win the Big 12.
The Powercat Questions Podcast returns after Kansas State's 48-0 beatdown of Oklahoma State and heading into Saturday's game with Texas. Who will start at quarterback for Chris Klieman's Wildcats? Adrian Martinez, who was injured early against TCU, gave way to backup Will Howard in the last two games, and Howard shined. Is it Martinez or Howard against the Longhorns? The Powercat Questions Podcast features GoPowercat.com publisher Tim Fitzgerald and the insights of GPC's Zac Carlson, Ryan Gilbert and Cole Carmody, and streams on the 247Sports Podcast Network at Megaphone.fm. Kansas State's Will Howard stole the show on homecoming as the backup signal-caller tossed four touchdown passes in the Wildcats dominant 48-0 triumph over the 9th-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. K-State head coach Chris Klieman cleared a huge hurdle in defeating Mike Gundy after falling in the three previous head-to-head matchups. The win proved to be the most lopsided defeat of a top 10 team by a lower-ranked team in college football HISTORY. In this game recap, Jeff Burkhart @jeff_burkhart contextualizes the Wildcats' decisive win over the Pokes, grades out the three units, and sets the stage for K-State's upcoming home date against Texas. Untimely injuries and special teams miscues proved too much to overcome for Kansas State as the Wildcats squandered a three-score lead in what ended up being a 38-28 setback to 8th-ranked TCU at Amon G. NFL Week 3 overreaction or proper reaction l AFC West has been disappointing l Chris Klieman, Kansas State head football coach
The Nebraska fan base seemed to be a lot less stressed this past week. Maybe the week off was as much needed for the fan base as it was for the players? In this week's Doc Talk Podcast presented by BetFred Sportsbook, Dr. Rob Zatechka and Travis Justice discuss if a week off can fix all the problems the Nebraska football team faces. Up next for Nebraska is Indiana. The Hoosiers are coming off their first season loss, falling to Cincinnati. Indiana didn't do itself any favors by turning the ball over three times and allowing the Bearcats to score 14-points in a time span of 10-seconds. All part of a 28-point 2nd quarter for Cincinnati. The rumor mill was running a full speed during the off week. Many stories, podcasts, and videos discuss who would be the ideal candidate for the Nebraska job. Dr. Rob and Travis don't have a strong opinion one way or another as they both agree it's a crap shoot on whether or not one coach succeeds and one doesn't. Many people are watching Dave Aranda at Baylor, Matt Campbell at Iowa State, Lance Liepold at Kansas, Chris Klieman at Kansas State, and Troy Calhoun at Air Force. There are a lot of reasons to take the Nebraska job if you are one of these coaches. However, with other jobs opening up, one big reason NOT to move to Lincoln could be living up to expectations. Sure, most coaches want a challenge, but Nebraska has had three head coaches in the last ten years, and many could argue that the expectations of success or the time given to get there are unrealistic. It was a crazy weekend of football culminating with a complete train wreck by the Chiefs at Indy. Let's count the ways KC handed this win to the Colts. Kansas State is sending Oklahoma out of this conference with some real butt whippings... this is getting routine for Chris Klieman's Cats. Stan Weber joins us to touch on all the college games. KU has a star quarterback on their hands as Jalon Daniels is the best player in America nobody's heard of yet. What a show he put on as KU beats Duke to go 4-0. And you can't write the scripts for some Mizzou football and basketball game endings... Saturday at Auburn joins the list of all timers.

We've reached week nine of the Texas Longhorns' 2022 season, bringing us to the Kansas State Wildcats. It's year four of the Chris Klieman era and KSU has high hopes after its second 8-5 season of the post-Bill Snyder era. They bring in Nebraska transfer Adrian Martinez, who will operate the offense under new offensive coordinator Collin Klien. As an interim, Klien led the Wildcats to a massive 42-20 win over the LSU Tigers in the Texas Bowl, averaging 7.13 yards per play to close the season. Running back Deuce Vaughn, one of two unanimous preseason All-Conference players, returns for another year to hopefully ease the tension on his OC and quarterback, while trying to notch another 2,000-yard season. Defensively, the Wildcats bring back six starters from a defense that allowed 21 points per game and 5.37 yards per play but must replace two key pieces in Cody Fletcher and Ross Elder, who finished second and third on the team in tackles. Who will replace that production and how can the defense take a step forward in 2022?
