CFB Week 5 Preview & Predictions - Kentucky vs Ole Miss, Alabama vs Arkansas, Oklahoma State vs Baylor, NC State vs Clemson

JT Sports Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Sep 28, 2022 43:05

JT Sports gives his College Football week 5 preview and predictions. Kentucky vs Ole Miss features two 4-0 SEC team's looking to stay undefeated. Kentucky has struggled to run the ball effectively averaging 2.8 yards per game and struggling to protect quarterback Will Levis. Ole Miss enters their first game of SEC play and currently has the second-best rushing attack in College Football averaging 296.7 rushing yards per game. Ole Miss has won 12 straight home games, will that streak continue? Can Kentucky slow down the Ole Miss run game? What if Ole Miss struggles to run the football successfully? Will USC transfer Jaxson Dart prove that he's the right QB for Ole Miss football? Alabama goes on the road to take on Arkansas. The Razorbacks are looking to bounce back from a 23-21 defeat by Texas A&M last week. If Arkansas is going to upset the Crimson Tide they need a big performance out of quarterback KJ Jefferson. Will Arkansas's defense slow down Alabama's passing attack? Alabama has struggled on the road, most recently a few weeks ago against Texas. Will Arkansas upset Alabama at home or will the Crimson Tide continue to roll? The last time when Oklahoma State played Baylor they were defeated 21-16 by Baylor Football in last year's BIG 12 Championship. Oklahoma State quarterback Spencer Sanders struggled against Baylor's defense last year throwing 1 touchdown and 7 interceptions, will Sanders's play improve? Baylor currently has the 7th best run defense in College Football but how will they hold up against Oklahoma State's run game? Will Oklahoma State suffer their first loss of the season? Or Will Baylor fall to 3-2 on the season? Clemson beat Wake Forest in overtime 51-45 in overtime last week. Can DJ Uiagalelei build off his best performance of the season? NCST held DJ Uiagalelei and the Clemson passing attack to a pedestrian performance. If Clemson wants to win this game they need better play from their wide receivers. Devin Leary torched Clemson's secondary last year and looks to do the same this year as the Tigers allowed 6 touchdowns to Wake Forest quarterback Sam Hartman. However how Will NCST handle the talented Clemson defensive line? Will the home-field advantage prove too much for NCST? Or will they beat Clemson for the second straight year? --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/jtsports/support

Week Zero Sports and Other Stuff

After an exciting first week of college football we are pumped about this loaded slate of week 2 games! Last week, traditional powers Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs flexed their muscles and a former power stirred in the swamp as the Florida Gators took down the top-10 ranked Utah Utes. This begged the question: is the SEC East more competitive than the SEC West in 2022? The Crimson Tide are prepping for a breakfast matchup with the Texas Longhorns, while the Tennessee Volunteers take a trip to face off against the Pittsburg Panthers. Our Kentucky Wildcats will also face their first real challenge of the year when they voyage to the swamp to face the upstart Gators. Several other exciting SEC matchups include our favorite Ole Miss Rebels, Mississippi State Bulldogs, and Auburn Tigers as big favorites. And of course, we make picks against the spread. Thanks for listening, and don't forget to SUBSCRIBE to Week Zero Sports & Other Stuff on your favorite podcast app and subscribe to our YouTube channel!Support the show

The Bears cruised to a 69-10 win against the Great Danes last Saturday in a nice tune up game before heading up to Provo, Utah this weekend. This Saturday's matchup versus BYU will feature 2 top 25 teams, and 2 of the best offensive lines in the nation. It will be a tough game for the Bears as BYU has the highest percentage of returning production from last year and certainly have circled this game on their calendars. Huge news in the college football world as it was announced last week the College Football Playoff will be expanded to 12 teams including automatic bids for 6 conference champions. Dave Aranda was asked about the expansion and that's exactly where this episode begins. We'll hear what Coach Aranda had to say and then Travis' reaction. Will this decrease the likelihood that we see 2 "superconferences" emerge and what does this mean for Baylor and the Big 12? Travis discusses. Travis recaps the game vs Albany last weekend and what impressed and didn't impress him. He wanted to see the offensive line get off to a better start, and the defense to contain the QB better.  Then Jarom Jordan Co-Host of BYU Sports Nation joins Please Bear with Me to discuss the matchup between Baylor and BYU amongst other things. Jarom explains how excited the BYU fanbase is to join the Big 12 and mentions what a positive experience it was for fans visiting Waco last year. Then they'll dive into the game this weekend and the expectations of both teams. Travis and Jarom will also discuss the multiple layers going on in this game from future Big 12 opponents, to Grimes and Mateos returning to BYU, and the Mormon vs Baptist budding rivalry. Travis wraps up with the "Bear Necessities" and his week 2 picks. Bear with us this week and let's get excited for the trip to Provo, this has the makings of a Baylor Football classic.  Pinecast - https://please-bear-with-me.pinecast.co/ Apple Podcasts - https://podcasts.apple.com/podcast/id1275909597?app=podcast&ls=1 Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/7gmHC6MmH3Zxd0CBfsqNIZ Twitter - https://twitter.com/pleasebearw_me?lang=en Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/PleaseBearWithMePodcast/ JOIN THE BANTER: Follow @PleaseBearW_Me on Twitter and Please Bear With Me on Facebook. The Baylor Bears under Dave Aranda will not go undefeated in 2022. It is nearly impossible for a team with Baylor's schedule to go undefeated in year three under any head coach. This slate is daunting. However, it is absolutely reasonable to think that Baylor will make it to Arlington. It's also not a bold claim to assert the Big 12 preseason favorites will win the conference all over again. On today's episode of Locked On Baylor, Cameron and Drake all but close the book on the offseason by predicting Baylor's football schedule in 2022. Let's say this, Cameron does not believe Baylor will lose a single game in conference play. Drake is of the idea the Bears will lose two games in Big 12 action alone.
