Each week we will watch a popular movie that the co-host, Gerry, has never seen. Then we will discuss what each of us thought of the movie. Giving the listener the views of someone who has seen the movie and someone who just saw it for the first time.
Crimes Against Pop CultureHappy Boovember! We only recorded one episode for the month of October so we decided to carry the scary over to November and then we said that we might as well come up with a cool sounding name and Boovember was born. Although I'm not sure if anyone else has thought of it so let's just say we are borrowing it for now. On this Episode of CAPC, Gerry and I watch, "The Fly". A horror classic with some very disturbing imagery. If you have a weak constitution then I suggest maybe just listening to the episode and skip the movie. Let's just say that if watching a person transform for a normal human being into a insect like creature is not your thing, then this isn't the movie for you. You should definitely still listen because we are far from disgusting. Listen Here!Subscribe Here!
Crimes Against Pop CultureHappy Halloween! Well not for another few days but it still is October and in honor of this horror filled month, we decided that we should watch some scary movies. We start it off with a bang and watch "Carrie" from 1976. This hour (?) classic comes from the twisted mind of Stephen King and is directed by Brian De Palma. This is another classic that passed Gerry by and apparently myself as well because I did not remember anything about this movie. I could have sworn that I had seen it before. Take a listen as we discuss how I think this shouldn't be classified as a horror movie. Find out what we do think it should be classified as. Enjoy the episode and we here at CAPC hope you have a spook filled Halloween!Listen Here!Subscribe Here!
Crimes Against Pop CultureOn this episode of CAPC, Gerry steps out of his comfort zone and chose a musical to watch. Although he did chose a classic, I don't know if it will be enough to change his mind on the art of musicals. We go on to have a meaningful conversation about the darker side of the world's history and get a little emotional. Then we get Gerry's take and opinions on our one and probably only musical. Crimes Against Pop CultureLet's get ready to jibber-jabber! On this week's episode, Gerry and I watch and discuss "Rocky V." I have to say that I have watched some shitty movies in my day, but this comes really close to winning the WME (Worst Movie Ever) title belt. Listen as we rant about the plot holes, the aging of a favorite son and why one character looks older than when he was killed off. We also contemplate the Latin translation of a certain spherical body part. As with all the other movies we have watched, Gerry and I spoil the shit out of this one. So if you haven't seen it, watch the movie first or we will ruin the ending for you. ROCKY WINS!!! There, now you don't have to watch this shitty movie.Listen Here!Subscribe to iTunes!
Crimes Against Pop CultureAnother week, another "Rocky" movie. The showdown is here! USA vs Russia, Rocky vs Drago! This week Gerry and I take a look at "Rocky IV". The cold war is in full swing and so is Pro-USA propaganda. Find out which one of our lovable characters doesn't make it to the end of this Boxing Drama. Crimes Against Pop CultureOn today's episode of CAPC, we watch a 70's classic, "The French Connection". With one of the best car chases of all time, this Gene Hackman classic wrestles with the age old question, how many kilos of coke can you hide in a 1970 Lincoln Continental Mark III? The answer to that question and so many others aren't answered here but you should still take a listen.

Crimes Against Pop Culture This is it. The very first episode back from our long hiatus. After Gerry nagged and nagged, day and night, day in and day out, week after week and month after month. We sat down and recorded a new episode. If you didn't read the subtitle, the movie we discuss on this episode, is "Citizen Kane". The movie that is considered the granddaddy to all of the movies. The number one film on all of the lists, or at least it was until an old, negative review dethroned it from Rotten Tomatoes' top spot. Take a listen and find out what we both though of this 80 year old movie that neither of us had seen. Subscribe Here!Listen Here!

On todays episode, we discuss our plans for our triumphant comeback and what you can expect from us going forward. We had recorded 104 episodes but only about 100 of those will be re-uploaded. Happy Halloween! On this special episode of Crimes Against Pop Culture we watch Candy Man in honor of one of my favorite days of the year. Yes, I know that Halloween was six months ago but we are ahead of the curve. No one is releasing Halloween episodes in January, except us. We are cleaver. Ok, not really. I've just been to lazy to edit the podcast.Anyway, I hope you enjoy this episode as mush as we enjoyed making it.RickyListen Here!Subscribe to iTunes!
This is episode 103 and The Crow is on the menu. On yet another impromptu recording. Gerry and I get together to watch a cult classic. Also one of Hollywood's most tainted movies, for the death of Brandon Lee (son of Bruce Lee). Check it out and leave us some feedback. We've been tweaking the podcast so let us know what you like or what you don't like. RickyListen here!Subscribe to iTunes!
Welcome to the Electric Fan Cave! I'm Corrigan... Wait a minute! This is Crimes Against Pop Culture. I guess I haven't recovered from having our friends from the Electric Fan Cave over to record. Those ladies were a handful, but we had a blast recording with them. Listen to this episode and then head on over to their website, www.electricfeast.com, to check out their show. Or you can just go to iTunes and search Electric Fan Cave or YouTube. I'm sure you can find them on other podcasting sites, I just can't remember them right now.As for this episode, Gerry is treated to a great movie. Maybe one of Lindsay Lohan's greatest films of all time. So sit back, stop trying to make "fetch" a thing and enjoy.RickyListen Here!Subscribe to iTunes!

Good afternoon everybody. This is a special episode of Crimes Against Pop Culture. After recording episode 100, a friend of the podcast, Kevin Cable (who has been on a couple of previous episodes) wanted to throw in his two cents. Kevin was unable to join us for the original recording of episode 100 or the trip down to Zensinitas but he wanted to share his thoughts on the awesomeness that is the Rocky Horror Picture Show. So that does it for me. Take a listen and enjoy.RickyListen Here!Subscribe to iTunes!
Today, Crimes Against Pop Culture reaches a very important milestone: 100 episodes! That's right, we have hit the century mark! It only took us well over a year to complete this momentous occasion. It also took Gerry and I some planning but we were able to set a goal and accomplish it. For those of you who have stuck around, thank you! I know our fan base is very small but we hope that we have provided some hours of fun while at the same time sprinkling some knowledge of movies into your brains. This particular movie even had us venture out of the RRR Studios and into sunny Zenzinitas (Encinitas) to partake in a popular cult adventure. We actually went to see "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" at a midnight show with a shadow cast! What's a shadow cast? Well, pop in those ear buds and take a listen! You might learn something.A special thanks to all of you who were brave enough to join us on our trip down south. Just a quick warning about this episode: it's our longest episode ever. Clocking in at just under 2 hours. Yes, that's T-W-O! So listen for a few minutes, take a break or a nap and then come back for more. You know you want to. RickyListen Here!Subscribe to iTunes!
This is episode 99. Only one more and we reach 100. I can't believe it's almost been 100 episodes. We probably could have gotten here a little sooner but I've been lazy and not wanting to record. On this episode, Gerry gets in touch with his inner athlete. It took us a while but we finally found it. Cause if there is one thing Gerry and I aren't, it's athletic. So sit back, relax and listen as Gerry and I run some patterns.RickySubscribe to iTunes!Listen here!
Phew! I'm tired after watching this movie. Just watching all those people running made my heart want to stop.On this weeks episode, Gerry finally watches the "classic" The Running Man and finds out why Arnold Schwarzenegger is so damned awesome. Keeping the post short and sweet.RickyListen here!Subscribe to iTunes!
Howdy, pardners! We're back with another root in', tootin', gun-shootin' episode! We go back to the well a little bit with this one, as it's another in the series of Sergio Leone-Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns. I gotta say, though, I think this one's my favorite of the bunch, and I believe Ricardo conquers. We enjoyed watching this movie and yappin' about it, so take a listen, won't you? Furthermore, I really enjoyed editing this episode, so much so that I got a little creative with the ending. Admittedly, it is a bit of payback for one of Ricky's recent endings that used some of my outtakes, so listen with your headphones so you can pick up all the furry goodness! Please remember to rate us on iTunes and drop us a line through any of our various means of communication to let us know how we're doing. We are getting closer and closer to that elusive episode 100. Once we hit that mark, we become syndicated and that's where the money is. Wait, what? That's only for TV shows? What the fu....Welcome back everybody! This is Crimes Against Pop Culture and this is episode 96! On this special episode Gerry gets to watch a British classic. Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels! A Guy Richie fan favorite from 1998.Listen up real close. Some of the segment bumps have been updated. Ok, all of them have. And we say goodbye to a segment, but I'm not going to tell you which one. You will have to listen to find out. Please enjoy.RickyListen here!Subscribe to iTunes!
This is it! Our last old episode before we get back to recording new ones! I'm stoked. A lot has happened since we last recorded and we can't wait to tell you all about it... if we remember. But, for now, here's this episode. It's "Despicable Me" and, guess what? We have guests! We chose to watch this because we wanted to see it before we went to watch Part 2. Yeah, that's how old this episode is. Anyway, we had a great time recording it, so we hope you enjoy it just as much. Stay tuned for new content... and maybe even some changes! Until then, "papoy."GerryListen here!Subscribe on iTunes!
Discount impunity! Wait that doesn't seem right. It's been a while since I've written one of these blugs. Damn, I did it again. I meant "blog". Anyway, episode 94 is here and it's getting too old for this stuff. The last time we dropped in on our intrepid duo, they were shooting shit up and catching bad guys. This time around the dynamic duo is shooting shit up and catching international bad guys. Aha. In case you haven't guessed or didn't bother reading the title, we are watching "Lethal Weapon 2".Shit gets real on this episode as I find out what "apartheid" means, brings a whole new political view to this film that had been previously missing. At least for me. We also discuss the amount of back story J.K. Rowlings has on her Harry Potter characters, but that is neither here nor there. Luckily Gerry and I seem to keep some semblance of a podcast and reach the end unscathed. Diplomatic immunity!! There it is. I knew it come to me.RickyListen here!Subscribe on iTunes!
"Dead or alive, you're listening to this episode!" Uh... wait a minute... On second thought, let's just stick to "alive." Hello, everyone! Gerry once again. We're slowly (very slowly) getting back on track, and here's the next episode we had in the works. This time, it's "RoboCop" from 1987. Now, this episode is a little different in that I wasn't sure if it was this film or its sequel that I had already seen. As such, it turns out that this is the unofficial debut of an idea Ricky and I had a while back, something we like to call "Re-Views." That's where we would use certain special episodes of CAPC to watch movies that we'd both seen, but that we hold near and dear to our hearts, and give them the ol' CAPC treatment. We felt it was still appropriate since it had been a long time since either of us had seen the film and, after so much time, watching something like this again can be like watching it with fresh eyes. We had fun on this episode and with this movie, so we hope you'll consider re-watching it with us; the movie's worth another look, if for nothing else, for nostalgia. Also, on a related note, we hope you're as excited as we are for the "RoboCop" reboot later this year! We haven't necessarily been the biggest fans of reboots over the years (read: we usually fucking HATE them) but this particular one looks pretty good. And, hey, if MGM et al. wants to throw us a few bucks for pimpin' their shit, we're not gonna say "no!" "I'll buy that for a dollar!" Enjoy!-GerryListen here!Subscribe to iTunes!
Whattup, peeps? Gerry here. We're really cookin' now! New episodes coming out fast and furious! Ummm… no, that doesn't mean we watched "The Fast and the Furious" for this episode. Anyway, Ricky finished putting this one together and I'm posting it. Yes, a collaborative effort. Sometimes, we're able to put our differences aside and work together for the common good. No, that's not a lofty claim; WE'RE CHANGING THE WORLD HERE!!!On this episode, we watched one of those rare movies that I had seen and Ricky hadn't, "American History X." Good one, right? Carolyn kinda likes it too… but saying that is like saying that a curb stomp gives you slight toothache. However, because of some slight… shall we say, lack of preparedness (on Ricky's part; YES, I'm completely throwing him under the bus!), I don't host this episode as I have in the past with movies like these. Less work for me! So let's all grab the clippers, shave our heads and roll on down to the rally as we take it to the hoop with "American History X." Click below and enjoy!-GerryListen Here!Subscribe to iTunes!
Huzzah! Another fun filled episode with your hosts Gerry and Ricky! It's only been like 9 years since our last post. Ok, maybe not that long but we have been on one heck of a hiatus. Most of you didn't notice but there was one lone voice that requested more episodes. Starting with this episode, most of what you will be hearing will be pre-recorded and yes most of it will be prior to 2013. So there may be some dated references but hey at least it's new content. Soon Gerry and I will up and running with new 2013 content. Even though the year is almost over. Oh, well! Let's get this barrel rollin'!!On this episode of Crimes Against Pop Culture, Gerry get's to experience one of mankind's greatest gifts. At least that is what I though when I watched this 20 years ago. Let's just say that some movies just don't hold up. So, hike up your kilt and get ready for some new CAPC.RickyListen here!Subscribe to iTunes!
Summer's winding down, people are returning to work after vacations, the kids are going back to school... What better way to get back into the swing of things than with a brand new episode? This week, we lay out the blueprints and explore the inner workings of "Ocean's 11." Now, we're saving the original for a future date, since neither Ricky nor I have seen that one, so no Frank Sinatra impressions quite yet. I know, I know... try to contain your disappointment. Anyway, we'll watch that one at a future date and compare and contrast then. This episode's all about the 2001 remake, so listen to us salivate over the ridiculously hunky men in this flick. Which one is Ricky's favorite? Which one is my favorite? You'll just have to listen to find out! A-ring-a-ding-ding!- GerryListen here!Subscribe to iTunes!
Wow. Seriously... how could a movie franchise go so wrong on the second installment? Oh, wait... I guess that's not that uncommon... Or perhaps "Conan the Barbarian" (which I have seen, BTW) wasn't all that great to begin with? No, that can't be true; I will not allow my precious childhood memories to be dashed upon the rocks in such a fashion. Either way, we consider this one a must-see, if for nothing else than to round out your "Conan" experience. Worth it? You be the judge! If not, you could always draw your mighty sword and strike it down. That's right... STRIKE A MOVIE DOWN WITH YOUR SWORD!!! Okay, I'm sorry, it's late and I'm getting loopy. Hope you enjoy the episode more than this intro...And, yes, in case you didn't previously notice, this is your second episode posted in one night! How you like us NOW?!? :D- GerryListen here!Subscribe to iTunes!
What was I going to do here...? Oh, yeah! I'm supposed to world-premiere an all-new episode of "Crimes Against Pop Culture!" This week's episode is "Memento," a film about a guy with short-term memory problems. That's right, Ricky got his own movie! Bazinga! Seriously, though, this is one honked up movie and I'm still not sure whodunit or what really happened... but who cares? Both Trinity and Cypher are in this flick, and this one doesn't suck! Don't forget to send us some feedback; I mean, tattoo it on yourself if you have to... Enjoy!- GerryListen here!Subscribe to iTunes!
Get ready to turn it up to ELEVEN!!! [cue electric guitar wail]Gerry here. Hey, have you missed us? It's been a while but now we're BACK! Yes, we've been on a bit of a sabbatical (again) from recording and (apparently) from editing and posting. ;) Love ya, Rick! In actuality, we have several episodes "in the can," as they say, and we'll get them out... eventually. However, we are pleased to announce the debut of Episode 87... "THIS... IS... SPINAL TAP!"As a self-professed music-phile, the fact that I hadn't seen this one prior to the recording of this episode of our podcast now pains me to no end. A brilliant mockumentary on the rock music scene of the late 70's/early 80's, this film is smart, hilarious and a loving tribute to something near and dear to my heart (and, I would guess, yours as well) ROCK AND ROLL!!! So grab your axe, get ready to shred, and don't get lost on your way to the stage as we delve into the world of SPINAL TAP!!!- GerryListen here!Subscribe to iTunes!
Sound the alarms, the prisoners have escaped! Ricky and Gerry are on the lamb and attempting to podcast! So a quarter of the year is almost over and here you are about to listen to yet another gem of an episode. On this episode of CAPC, Gerry and I watch "The Natural" starring the dreamy Robert Redford.
