India's locker economy is booming — and buckling. Bank vaults remain the default choice for storing gold, heirlooms and family documents, but chronic shortages, inheritance disputes and a trust deficit are cracking the system open. Private vault operators are muscling in with biometric access and extended hours. Home-safe manufacturers are selling the idea of keeping wealth closer. And regulators are struggling to keep pace. As gold prices soar and household wealth rises, the question of who safeguards India's physical assets has never been more urgent — or more contested. This is the story of India's locker economy, and the battle to control it. Lijee Philip reports, Anirban Chowdhury narrates. Listen in:See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
A new podcast episode of "Sound Speed Action," a review episode on the movie "In The Grey" (2026), is now available everywhere you get your podcasts!Episode 68 – Review: In The Grey (2026)Guy Ritchie movies are special. There is always something fun about them. I got hooked with the one-two punch that opened his career, "Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" and "Snatch", and I have followed him ever since. The phases of Ritchie:The amazing start: "Lock Stock" and "Snatch".Veering off course (the Madonna era): "Swept Away" (yikes, not Ritchie).Finding his way back: "Revolver" and "Rocknrolla".There he is!: "Sherlock Holmes", "Aladdin", and "The Gentlemen". Now he is everywhere, also making shows like "MobLand" and "Young Sherlock". But spreading himself thin has recently produced fun yet troubled movies."In The Grey"Pros: Eiza Gonzalez is the most fun thing here, full of charisma, not phoning it in. The action and that kinetic, slapstick Ritchie energy are intact. The understated Chris Benstead score adds to it, and the locations are fantastic.Cons: Gyllenhaal and Cavill are dialed way down, so the tough guys never feel human. That ties into the bigger problem: the protagonists never feel in real danger, the third straight Ritchie film with that issue. The courts get manipulated so easily that nothing pushes back, so there are no stakes. The on-screen scribble text is overused to hide the gaps, and the ending, hurt by reshoots that never happened, just abruptly drops."In The Grey" hits rental everywhere June 2nd (it was in theaters May 15...

Darren Ward makes great, gory, grimy low budget thrillers set in Southampton. With the aid of SFX artists from Game of Thrones and Lock Stock... Darren crafts absolutely brutal crime movies. In this interview with John 'Tiberius' Kirk - the Blu-Ray Bloodhound - and Shameful Steve, Darren tells us how he convinced David Warbeck to star in his movie, why it's not a brilliant idea to set off pyrotechnics right next to an army base, and why exactly he has a prosthetic p*nis on his desk.Get your copy of Darren's 'Gialli, Guns and Gore' box set from our pals at Treasured Films: https://www.treasuredfilms.co.uk/gialli-guns-and-gore-the-brutal-films-of-darren-ward-blu-ray-boxset#gialli #darrenward #treasuredfilms Hosted on Acast. All of these examples are what are called Irreversible Binomials & Trinomials. The cute phrases or names that ALWAYS appear in the same order. That sound really stupid if switched–”Jelly and peanut butter anyone?” Jon and Kurt, feeling this is truly excellent smart drivel, delve into the world of irreversible binomials and trinomials. Some they think have it wrong, others they agree are culturally accepted, while still others just seem right to our co-hosts. Yet, as always, they also disagree on a few. After a week off for Easter, the Film Stories podcast is back with more behind the scenes movie stories. It's going all gangster this time too, with the tale of how Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels had to scale down from a very expensive film to a very cheap one. And the moment when Tom Cruise lent it a helping hand too. Then it's 1993's Alive, telling a difficult true story on film, and as it turns out, a story that involved around 18 different scripts across a decade or so. The turning point? It might just have been a car bumper sticker! Stories of both are told in this episode... Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

In this episode of The Rewatch Party, Nick, Anthony, Elise, and Dan dive into the gritty, fast-paced world of Guy Ritchie's Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels. This 1998 cult classic, known for its stylish cinematography, sharp dialogue, and intricate plot, sparks a lively discussion among the hosts about its charm and rewatchability. Nick sets the tone, highlighting how the film's intertwining storylines and colorful cast of characters create a unique cinematic experience that's hard to forget. Anthony enthusiastically praises the movie's dark humor and razor-sharp wit, calling it a masterclass in balancing chaos and comedy. He points to standout characters like Bacon, Soap, and the intimidating Big Chris, portrayed memorably by Vinnie Jones, as key to the film's enduring appeal. Elise, however, notes that the densely packed narrative can be overwhelming on a first watch, requiring a keen eye to keep track of the various subplots. Despite this, she admires Ritchie's ability to maintain a frenetic pace without losing the audience entirely. Dan takes a moment to spotlight the film's iconic soundtrack, a blend of gritty rock and soulful tunes that perfectly complements the movie's British gangster aesthetic. The group discusses how Lock, Stock helped define a new era of crime films with its unique editing style and cheeky tone, which influenced countless movies to follow. While Dan appreciates the film's originality, he also raises questions about whether its distinct style might overshadow its substance on repeat viewings. As the hosts wrap up their discussion, they weigh in on the film's rewatchability. Nick and Anthony agree that Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels is endlessly enjoyable, with new details to catch on every viewing. Elise feels it's a must-revisit for fans of clever dialogue and intricate storytelling, though she admits it might not suit everyone's taste. Dan concludes that the movie's boldness and charm make it a standout, cementing its place as a rewatchable gem in the crime genre. The episode ends with a unanimous appreciation for the film's impact on modern filmmaking, solidifying its spot on the must-watch list. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120735/

We're on a brief hiatus this week, so we've plundered the Legends Vault for some appropriate loot to tide you over. Before we score Guy Ritchie's second film, Snatch, we're giving you our review of his first. This week we're talking about Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, also one of our Legends of ‘99, the movie that launched the acting careers of Jason Statham and Vinnie Jones, began the directing careers of Guy Ritchie and Matthew Vaughn, spawned a short-lived TV series, and, along with The Limey, is the second Legend of ‘99 to heavily employ Cockney rhyming slang. Join us as we have a butcher's at this farcical tale of four friends, two guns, and a whole lot of mistaken identity.
