Happy Thanksgiving, Pixie Dusters! This week's episode is filled with double the trouble as your favorite hosts chat about The Parent Trap - both from 1961 with Hayley Mills and 1998 starring Lindsay Lohan. Today we're tackling Mean Girls, the generation-defining cult classic from the early 2000s. It's pretty clear from the first two minutes that Samuel was not gonna be a fan, but we still get some good discussion about social anxiety, the two terrific lead performances, and lots of arguing over what it's like to be a teenager. Also, why we hate bad skylight layouts. (Recorded November 12th, 2023.)

TarantiNovember aka NovUMAber continues this week with Volume 2 of Beatrix Kiddo's quest to Kill Bill. The frenetic violence of the first movie gives way to a more plaintive western, but we still get the Texas funeral, Beatrix's training montage with Pai Mei, the Budd and Elle one act play in a trailer in the middle of the desert, Daryl Hannah serving hysterical blindness, a potential “Hysterical Blindness” reference, and also have you seen “Hysterical Blindness”? Uma Thurma gives a similarly emotional performance here, especially in the final chapter with Bill and B.B., to say nothing of the bathroom floor catharsis. Will there be a Volume 3? Who would play B.B.? And is there a role for Lindsay Lohan? What a CreepSeason 22, Episode 6TMZJust in case you don't know what TMZ is: It's a tabloid news organization. They have a website, a TV show, and a webcast. It's known for breaking celebrity gossip like Mel Gibson's antisemitic rant during his drunk-driving arrest, the death of Heath Ledger, all the stories about Britney Spears, detailing every little thing about Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan back in the day, and the death of Michael Jackson. The biggest story that TMZ refuses to cover is that they're a garbage gossip site with a history of misogyny, harassment, racism, and abuse toward the celebrities they cover and their own employees.Sources for this episode:BuzzfeedBuzzfeedThe CutThe Daily BeastThe Daily BeastThe GuardianJezebelLainey GossipThe New YorkerPajibaThinkProgressWikipediaTrigger warnings: Sexism, sexual abuse, and suicideBe sure to follow us on social media. The latest episode of Girls Gone Hallmark is all about Hallmark Channel's newest original movie "3 Bed, 2 Bath, 1 Ghost." It's a hauntingly good episode where Megan and Wendy talk about Hallmark's new era, the charming Madeleine Arthur, and a few 'Did You See That' moments. Don't be scared to give it a listen – it's a real "spirited" discussion! If you enjoy listening to Girls Gone Hallmark, we could definitely use your 5-star ratings and written reviews on your preferred podcast platform. Apple Podcast listeners: Use your phone's podcast app -> find the Girls Gone Hallmark show -> scroll all the way down to the review section -> tap 5 stars and tell listeners why Girls Gone Hallmark is your favorite Hallmark podcast. Hallmark News - October 2023 TMZ reported that the Queen of Christmas Lacey Chabert recently reunited with Mean Girls co-stars Lindsay Lohan and Amanda Seyfried to film a Pepsi ad. Me thinks this might be a Super Bowl ad, maybe? Brant Daughtery announced that he and his wife, Kimberly, are expecting a second baby in early 2024. Daughtery will next be seen in this year's hardest to pronounce title “Joyeux Noel” on October 29th. We're starting to see posters for the Countdown to Christmas movies emerge! And commercials on Hallmark Channel. What do you think of the "Christmas on Cherry Lane" poster? About "3 Bed, 2 Bath, 1 Ghost" Stars Julie Gonzalo and Chris McNally. These two are a real life couple - though I'm not sure if they are married. Seems like they are super private. They did have a baby in June 2022. Gonzalo plays Anna. She has 48 acting credits including Cut, Color, Murder from 2022. We last reviewed her for fan-favorite movie Pumpkin Pie Wars. Chris McNally plays Elliott. Chris is known for his role as Lucas on When Call the Heart. He has 40 acting credits. Outside of Hallmark, he was seen in Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies and Firefly Lane - both from 2023. Madeleine Arthur plays ghost Ruby. She was a regular in the now canceled series "Blockbuster," she played Mae in "Devil in Ohio," and she played Chris in all three “To All the Boys I've Loved” movies. The story is by Gregg Rossen & Brian Sawyer. The teleplay included both Gregg Rossen, Brian Sawyer, and Joie Botkin. Gregg Rossen has written a TON of Hallmark movies including The Professional Bridesmaid, The Winter Palace, The Santa Stakeout and more. In fact, his IMDB reads like he's only written Hallmark movies. Brian Sawyer resume reads almost identical to Gregg Rossen. Joie Botkin is one of our favorite Hallmark writers. Her next Hallmark film is the Tyler Hynes movie "Never Been Chris'd." Filmed in and around Vancouver, British Columbia, in Canada — more precisely in Burnaby, which is located about 15 to 20 minutes outside of Vancouver. The movie was filmed from June 12 to June 30, 2023. The rural estate used is known as Copper Stone mansion located in Langley. Other television shows like "Riverdale," "Bates Motel," and "Supernatural" have also used the property. Welcome back to Not A Bomb Presents: Breaking Brad. The premise is simple. Troy, Sammy from GGTMC, and Jose from Watch/Skip+ pick some of the worst films imaginable to see if they can break Brad. In this episode, the gang “delivers” a discussion on 2009's Labor Pains. Starring the infamous Lindsay Lohan, Labor Pains finds Lindsay faking a pregnancy to keep her job. Yep, that's the premise. The 94-minute runtime is plagued with unfunny jokes, a bratty little sister, Chris Parnell belittling himself, lame dog jokes, smoking in the girls room, and some of the worst music ever created. This may be the film that ends these little experiements!Make sure to stick around after the discussion to hear the winners of the listener requests for October!Be sure to subscribe to the Gentlemen's Guide to Midnite Cinema to hear more of Sammy. Mean Girls is a 2004 Teen Romantic Comedy directed by Mark Waters, Mark Waters also directed Just Like Heaven, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Freaky Friday. This movie is also written by Tina Fey and produced by Lorne Michaels. Mean Girls is the story of Cady Heron played by Lindsay Lohan. Cady was homeschooled and lived in Africa for 12 years and she is finally going to highschool for the first time… she has no idea what she is in for. Cady quickly meets the school rejects Janis Ian played by Lizzy Caplan and Damian played by Daniel Franzese. She also meets the ‘plastics' or the MEAN GIRLS, Regina George, Karen Smith and Gretchen Wieners, played by Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert respectively. Really this movie is just the story of Cady navigating through having no experience with North American highschool and being THRUST into a friendship with Regina George… and all the comedy that comes with that. Also, Jonathan Bennett plays our love interest Aaron Samuels.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Yes, we are still on our journey through Mary-Kate and Ashley's 2001 cartoon, Mary-Kate and Ashley in Action. We did not intend to do more than a single episode on this show. This is what Mary-Kate and Ashley do to us.Today, we talk about episodes 7-12, but instead of us both watching every episode, we decided to tag-team it. Lani took the odd numbers and Becca took the even, and we take turns describing each episode to each other. We ended up having WAY more fun telling the stories of these episodes to each other than we did actually watching the show, and only get through four of the ten episodes we had planned on talking about. This has been the most bizarre turn in our Mary-Kate and Ashley deep dive, and we wouldn't have it any other way. We are also joined by our "producer*" Celey Schumer who listens from the peanut gallery and adds incredibly valuable information, like informing us that New Zealand actually gets cold, and the title of Lindsay Lohan's 2002 spy movie. We hope you enjoy listening to these bizarre cartoon plots SO much more than we enjoyed watching them. If you still insist on watching the full MK&A in Action series, you can do so by clicking the link in SimplyOlsen's Instagram bio (which we are forever grateful for). You can also watch the video version of this ep by subscribing to our Patreon here.Find us on Social Media!Instagram: @theythoughtiwasyouTikTok: @theythoughtiwasyouBecca: @beccarothLani: @laniharmsDid you work on this show and want to tell us some hot BTS goss? Since 1929, Hollywood's brightest stars have flocked to the Chateau Marmont as if it were a second home. An apartment building-turned-hotel, the Chateau has been the backdrop for generations of gossip and folklore: where director Nicholas Ray slept with his 16-year-old Rebel Without a Cause star Natalie Wood; Jim Morrison swung from the balconies; John Belushi suffered a fatal overdose; and Lindsay Lohan got the boot after racking up nearly $50,000 in charges in less than two months. But despite its mythic reputation, much of what has happened inside the Chateau's walls has eluded the public eye - until now. With wit and insight, Shawn Levy recounts the wild revelries and scandalous liaisons, the creative breakthroughs and marital breakdowns, the births and deaths to which the hotel has been a party. Vivid, salacious, and richly informed, The Castle on Sunset is a glittering tribute to Hollywood as seen from inside the walls of its most hallowed hotel.

Jessica Bennett has spent her award-winning journalism career focusing a gender lens on social issues and culture — from the persistence of workplace inequality, to cultural trends like Playboy magazine to rebrand and the evolution of Miss America, to the ripple effects of #MeToo. She was the first-ever gender editor of The New York Times and is the author of two bestselling books, Feminist Fight Club: A Survival Manual for a Sexist Workplace (HarperCollins) and This Is 18: Girls' Lives Through Girls' Eyes (Abrams). She is an adjunct professor of journalism at NYU. Fun fact: She once wrote a viral piece about her Resting Bitch Face. In 2021 Jessica wrote a piece that I have been thinking about since then. It was title, Speaking of Britney … What About All Those Other Women? Monica Lewinsky. Janet Jackson. Lindsay Lohan. Whitney Houston. We are living in an era of reappraisals. It questioned if we were rethinking how we treated the the “wild" girls of the 90's and 2000's—Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Pamela Anderson, Monica Lewinsky. We break it down and discuss how we are treating women in the media today and what that means for how we see ourselves and each other. Originally aired 6/10/22 In the early 2000s, a group of teenagers collectively known as "The Bling Ring" reportedly stole over $3 million dollar's worth of possessions from celebrities like Orlando Bloom, Paris Hilton, Rachel Bilson, Megan Fox, Lindsay Lohan and more. Over a decade later, a viral Vanity Fair article and a subsequent film still control the narrative of this story— not the people involved. If you watched the film, you might think that Alexis Haines (née Neiers) was the ringleader of the Bling Ring. So it might surprise you to learn that she was actually only at one of the break-ins, and at the time, she was addicted to heroin and dealing with the aftermath of abuse. Alexis will be the first one to tell you that stealing is always wrong. Full stop. But so long as her story is still being told in the media, she should be the one to tell it. Nick is joined by music journalist Jim Ryan, from Forbes & The Daily Herald, to talk about: Bob Mould, Lin Brehmer, Andy Summers, Bruce Springsteen, SAGA, Rock and Roll Jeopardy, and Bret Michaels' Party Gras! Nick and Jim also compare notes about the ridiculous Foreigner concerts they've each attended. Then, Esmeralda Leon and Nick discuss crazy celebrity rumors and urban legends like, Nic Cage is actually a vampire, Lindsay Lohan has a dead twin sister, Cher has had several ribs removed and Stevie Wonder isn't really blind. "Darling. Could you, like, chill for a sec?" We watched "Freaky Friday" (2003) with friend of the pod Devin Lotfi and we want to get a little ear-stud right... there. Man oh man, this movie is fun! Lindsay Lohan and Queen Jamie Lee Curtis are having a blast and it shows on screen - the two are at their best in scenes with each other. We spend some time talking about the 1976 original with Jodie Foster and Barbara Harris, and even the oft forgotten Disney Channel Original Movie (or DCOM if you're nasty) from 1995 with Shelley Long and Gabby Hoffman, but this Mark Waters classic is really the one that has aged like fine wine. Will we ever get a "re-quel" with Jamie Lee and Lindsay? We can only hope. Did Chad Michael Murray's career come to an all-too-abrupt halt? Maybe. Are the early-aughts fashions both great and terrible? Absolutely. Listen, Lindsay is showing that early promise everyone always talked about, Jamie Lee is swinging for the fences with her comedic choices and director Mark Waters would team up again with Linds the following year to give us the utterly homosexual classic "Mean Girls." You're welcome! Now excuse us, we have to apply a hydrating face mask - we look like the Crypt Keeper!!
