In the second part of the series, Pastor Clare looks at the story of the leper who came to Jesus and asked to be made clean. Jesus could have just spoken a word, but He chose to touch the man to make him well! Are we bringing a touch of God to those who are furthest away from Him?
Pastor Derek kicks off our missions-focused month, and our new five part series, 'Mission Made Sense'.
Chris unpacks Ephesians 2:1-10 and asks: are you on the right path?
Lisa draws the series to a close by looking at the story of the Shunammite woman. Her promised son is born, but then tragedy strikes. What do you do when you feel disappointed with God? How do you respond when your experience falls short of your expectation? Continuing to make room for hope when you are heavy-hearted is a huge test of faith, but it is rooted in the belief that God can redeem any situation for his glory.
Life can be overwhelming at times, but 1 Peter 5:7 reminds us that we should “give all our worries and cares to God, for he cares about you”. Jesus promised rest to those who were weary from carrying heavy burdens (Matt 11:28) - but what does that mean? In part 3 of 'Make Room', Pastor Phil looks at these verses, and asks if we're prepared to put time aside to rest and wait on God.
How can we create space in our busy lives and make room to listen to God? In part two of this series, Pastor Ian looks at the story of Mary and Martha, and unpacks how the Holy Spirit might speak to us and our role in slowing down and being still enough to hear His voice, which could be one of the most profound spiritual disciplines we can get hold of. What role does Scripture play? What about our desires and emotions? And what about other people - can God speak through them too?
As we begin a new series, and our '21 Days of Prayer', Pastor Clare asks what resolutions could we make to ‘clear a way’ in our full and often very cluttered lives? Where have we lost our view of Jesus amongst the many competing voices in our world?
We can all lose things like our wallets and keys, or even our appetite, but what happens when we lose our joy and our peace and Where can we find those things? Pastor Derek looks at the truth behind Luke 19:10 - "For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
Have we promised to keep a resolution this new year? Have we been able to keep it? Probably not? There are many things in life that can dash our hopes and broken promises from others can hurt a great deal. Anyone can make a promise, but it takes incredible commitment and faithfulness to fulfil it. So in this tough world, who can we trust – really? In part two of the series, Nathan looks at three types of promiser, and shows who we can trust with confidence.
For our final Sunday of 2019, Pastor Phil begins a three part series based on the 'Way Maker' song. This week, we see how not many of us are as smart as a five year old, but more importantly, how God time and time again has made a way through tough circumstances.
Our Bolton Campus Pastor, Susie Islip, concludes our 'All' series.
Lisa brings part 2 of our 'ALL' series. This week, how can you live all out for Jesus?
Pastor Clare kicks off a new series - 'All'. In part one, we see that to be truly following Jesus, we need to be 'All IN' - living a surrendered, sacrificial and sold-out life.
In Luke 14, Jesus tells the story of a banquet where people have been invited but fail to turn up: they provide a number of excuses. In his message, Robert asks what excuses we're making when it comes to following Jesus.
Chris brings us a great message from John 2 and the Wedding at Cana.
On Vision Sunday 2019, reflecting on his and Pastor Clare's journey of 25 years, Pastor Phil brings a message on a verse that has been key. Psalm 127:1 says "Unless the Lord builds the House.." Who are you building your life with?
People often fail to see the unique role of spiritual leadership in their lives, but God sees it as an incredibly important, releasing role to help you realise your potential. With this in mind, our senior pastor, Georgina Smith, brings the 300 series to a close.
What might it have felt like to be part of the assembled army of Israel, gathering together in the face of the almighty Midianite army, only to see 31,700 of your fellow soldiers – your friends and fellow warriors – walk away or be sent home? What do you think that the remaining 300 men were thinking? In part 7 of the series, Pastor Clare talks about being in the core and the challenge that creates.
When God called Gideon and his 300 to take on the might of the Midian army with trumpets, jars and torches, they obeyed, but must have wondered how God was going to lead them to victory. In part six of the series, Pastor Phil asks if we're willing to submit to what we don't always understand.
The second half of our '300' series is here! Listen to part 5, preached by our senior pastor, Derek Smith.
Steve shares the key truths contained in Romans 12:2: "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."
Pastor Phil reflects on his lack of skill in all things art and pottery, but points to the skill of the potter in Jeremiah 18. In this week's message, we see that God is in the business of rebuilding and designing lives. Whose hands is your life in?
In our latest podcast, Chris takes us through David's most famous song: Psalm 23.
Lisa concludes our 'Secrets from the Storm' series by looking at the story of the wise and foolish builders.
It's part 4 of the series; this week Pastor Clare looks at the story of Jonah who tried to run away from God and was caught up in a storm as a result. How do we make sense of the storms that we face?
In the third part of our series, Rachel looks at the story of Peter walking on the water to Jesus.
Our Senior Pastor, Derek Smith, continues our series by looking at the story of Jesus calming the storm. We see that Jesus spoke to the storm, not about it, and Derek points out how important a cushion can be!
Pastor Phil kicks off a new series 'Secrets in the Storm'. When we're faced with a storm, where do we find strength to tough it out?
Chris wraps up our series by asking: in what ways can we be distracted and waste our potential? How can we distract others from serving God? How do we overcome distraction?
Luke brings a great message this week on the subject of thankfulness.
In a brand new series, we look at the little foxes found in Song of Songs 2:15. These animals are a parallel with the kinds of problems that can disturb or destroy your relationship with God and who you are called to be. Apathetic means to have a lack of interest, enthusiasm or concern. This week, Lisa looks at ways we can show apathy: in church, jobs, families or our relationships. What do we need to do to make sure that apathy doesn’t creep in? How do we recognise it?
Being in alignment is not about us all having to be the same - a diverse organisation does not have to be divided. It's not even about agreeing on every little thing either. But it is about having a shared identity, common values and a deep purpose. In part four of the series, Pastor Tina shows us that our strength is in our alignment.
God has put into us everything we need to fulfil what He has called us to do. He has called us and empowered us to "go in the strength we have." What has God given us that could be 'our strength'? Chris explores all this in this week's message.
In Judges 6, the angel comes to Gideon, hiding in a winepress from the Midianites, and declares him to be a "mighty warrior". Gideon's initial response is one of surprise; he looks at his past and present circumstances, and tells the angel that he is the weakest person in Israel! In Part 2 of our 300 series, Pastor Phil looks at where we find our identity; for us to step out for God, it's more about knowing whose we are than who we are.
Pastor Adam kicks off a brand new series on Gideon's 300. When God called Gideon, Gideon's initial response was hardly enthusiastic as his environment was one of fear, doubt and disillusionment. In this message, Pastor Adam asks: what is the environment around you producing in you?
God speaks to Samuel! When Samuel realises that it is God, he is ready to listen. In the final part of this series, Pastor Clare asks: are you attentive, available and active?
God says He will honour those who honour Him. To honour is to show respect, or to esteem, while to dishonour is to treat something as common or ordinary. Through the story of Eli's sons, Hophni and Phinehas, Robert shows that we can treat God with dishonour.
Romans 8:28 is familiar to many Christians, but do we really believe that God can work in ALL things? Pastor Derek unpacks this famous verse.
Samuel is born, and Hannah knows that she has to be true to her promise and give him back to God. Does she react bitterly? No - she sings a song of worship. In this week's message, Pastor Phil looks at how we should look up and sing when we're in our lowest valley. (Apologies for the poor sound quality)
Pastor Clare kicks off this new series by looking at the lead-up to the birth of Samuel. We see how his mother, Hannah, prayed for a miracle as she walked, wept and waited.
Faye brings a great message on the things that can hold us back in our relationship with God.
Jude urges his readers to "contend for the faith". On Easter Day, when Jesus rose to bring life and freedom, Pastor Phil examines what contending for our faith looks like in 2019.
Phil concludes our 'Cross Carriers' series by looking at 'Resources'. One of the most difficult things to learn to do as a Christian is to trust God with our resources, whether it's possessions, money or time, we can all struggle to let go. Generosity is not a one-off moment but a lifestyle choice, so how can we learn to trust God more with our things, and how do we balance the tension of being a good steward and being generous?
How does taking up your cross affect the relationships in your world? How can people learn to cope when relationships, like marriage and family, become difficult? How can we press into God at our most vulnerable times? Steve looks at these issues in the third part of the series.
This week, Ps Clare continues our 'Cross Carriers' series by looking at the flesh. What do you do when you know what you SHOULD do but everything in you wants to do the opposite? Should this happen to a Christian and why? How do we deal with our desires and emotions in light of our faith, and what do we do if we have failed in these areas?
Jesus said "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me." As we start this series, and our build-up to Easter, Phil looks at how we can carry our cross in terms of how we deal with things in our mind.
Chris concludes our series on the book of Ruth.
As Lisa continues our series, we see how Ruth encounters Boaz ...and a love story begins.
Following the death of her husband and two sons, Naomi decided to leave Moab and return home to Bethlehem. One daughter-in-law, Orpah, kissed Naomi goodbye and went back to her family, while the other, Ruth, clung to Naomi and promised to be faithful to her. In the first message of this series, Clare asks: are you a kisser or a clinger?
This week, Clare looks at the lessons we can learn from the life of Deborah.
Luke wraps up our '21 Days' series by looking at how we can approach God with confidence. How do we pray confident prayers? What does praying confidently produce in us?
