Hope Darst has been leading worship – both in her home church and on stages around the world for decades, although unlike most artists she signed her first record deal at the age of 39 in 2019. Since then, she's penned several singles that have blessed millions of believers including Peace Be Still, Come Alive, and If the Lord Builds the House. Tasha Layton's vocational and life experience is crazy colorful – before coming to faith in Jesus Christ, she studied Buddhism and spent four years touring all over the world as a back-up vocalist for pop superstar Katy Perry. She's now a Christian music favorite and her latest single – Worship Through It – which is especially pertinent for today's conversation – was number one on the charts recently. Our third worship tutor today is Hillary Scott. If you're a country music fan, you're familiar with my dear friend Hillary because she's part of the platinum selling, multiple Grammy and CMA award-winning band, Lady A. What you might not know is that Hillary began her storied musical career as a worship leader and has never stopped using her pipes to point people to Jesus. Rounding out this fabulous foursome of guests on the porch today is Rita Springer. If you mention the name Rita Springer in the company of young worship leaders, it's likely one or two will involuntarily gasp because she's sort of like the Michael Jordan of worship leading. In addition to writing and recording songs for the church at large for the past 30+ years, Rita has also mentored hundreds of Christian artists and worship leaders around the world. Having Hope, Tasha, Hillary and Rita here together to dive into the theology of worship is the equivalent of having Muttiah Muralitharan and Richard Hadlee here to dive into the subject of bowling because they are two of the greatest professional bowlers the world has ever seen. Okay, maybe that wasn't the best analogy since bowling does seem to be more of a niche sport, but the bottom line is we've got a few of the most experienced and humble worship leaders of this generation gathered on the porch today to help us lean more fully into the embrace of Jesus, which is what shapes how we live and lead as Christ followers. I'm so excited about how God is going to reveal Himself to us today so please grab your Bible and your favorite beverage and your most comfortable chair and pull it up close to ours on the porch because believe me, you're going to want to hear every single word these saints share today. Life without the Lord looks like seizing control. Life with the Lord means surrendering control, in our work, in our world, releasing our worry to Christ.

This week at our Perdido Key Campus Senior Pastor Kyle Valaer, continues the series ‘Stay Focused.' This journey through select Psalms aims to encourage us to remain faithful to Christ in a world vying for our attention. We hope this resource is a blessing to you. For more information about the Point Church, please visit us online at www.tothepoint.church. Take Aways: Whatever we do, we do in vain if the Lord is not in it. Because you're not the all-knowing, all-seeing, all-powerful God of the universe, it's an empty hope to believe you can perfectly protect whatever is precious in your life. The Lord wants you to trust Him enough to close your eyes and rest. The answer to our limitations is building and working and living while trusting that in the end, your life and the lives of those around you depend upon the Lord. Only as we rely on Christ will we see the church built. Only as we rely on Christ will we see the church protected Only as we rely on Christ will we see the church expanded.
Today is day twenty-seven out of thirty in our journey through the Book of Psalms in thirty days. Today is going to be amazing. We will get through twelve psalms in one day. They are all short psalms, a collection of wonderful psalms. We will start with Psalm 120 and finish with 131. Is the Lord part of your home? Are you building “your house” or do you reach to the Lord to build it?
Unless the LORD Builds the House
Join us as we chat with Andrew Kern about his new book, Unless the Lord Builds the House, a treatise on how the temple is the pattern for learning. We discuss how the temple and its parts: the Holy of Holies, the Holy Place, the Courtyard and the Camp are patterns of us as humans and of the world around us and how that makes a difference in how we see our children and the glory to be found in every lesson. As I mentioned in the last couple of episodes, we're in the home stretch (at least for now) of the Raised Catholic podcast. Today I'll tell the story of the podcast through the lens of the Notre Dame Cathedral fire as an allegory for the state of the Church and as a model for how an unlikely ministry sometimes finds us. If you'd like to connect with me, find me on Instagram, at my website, or on Substack. If you'd like to help support this podcast financially, there's a way to do just that on my page at buymeacoffee.com! Of Solomon. 1 Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. 2 It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep. 3 Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. 4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one's youth. 5 Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate. The Holy Bible: English Standard Version
The blessed man is the one who fully trusts in the providence of God for success in life. Psalm 127 is a pilgrim song about divine providence in domestic activities. The passage focuses on the hidden activity of the LORD in building a house, protecting a city, prospering one's labor, and providing children…
St. Luke 5:1-11. In today's homily, Fr Anthony stresses the importance of building in God's name. Using marriage as an example, he speaks on how we must strive to have Christ as the foundation for all we do; and we must build marriages that produce joy, not just endure to the end. He reminds us that we should never think we could build anything worthwhile without Christ. Enjoy the show!

Sunday Service - August 18, 2024 - Jeremiah Gonda
In this sermon, we explore the profound question from Ecclesiastes 1:2-3: "Vanity of vanities! All is vanity. What does man gain by all the toil at which he toils under the sun?" As we celebrate moving into our new worship space, we reflect on the importance of inviting God to build our house and give meaning to our efforts. Join us as we recount the journey from meeting in a paintball event center to this new sanctuary, recognizing God's provision and guidance every step of the way. Learn how Psalm 127 and the New Testament answer the existential questions of life's meaning and purpose: Eternal Perspective: Setting our minds on things above (Colossians 3:1-2) Purpose in Christ: Knowing our labor in the Lord is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58) Abundant Life: Experiencing the life Jesus offers (John 10:10) Reflecting on our journey, we see that without God's blessing, our efforts are in vain. As we dedicate our new space, we seek His presence and guidance, trusting Him to build His house through us. God has Hope for you here. “A Wisdom Psalm: Unless the Lord Builds” July 28, 2024 Psalm 127 Pastor John Choi ----more---- Psalm 127:1 Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. [2] It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep. [3] Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. [4] Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one's youth. [5] Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate. There is true rest in our work when God's providential hand is in it and when we work diligently for His glory. • God in the building and guarding of our lives • God in the building and guarding of our families • Christ who builds and guards His beloved
Psalm 127, one of the Psalms of Ascents, warns us to avoid vanity by participating in God's work and reaping the fruitfulness of it. Producing fruit that aligns with God's creative, sustaining, and redeeming work, however, poses a challenge to our sinful tendency to follow worldly patterns. This message is meant to encourage the church in godly fruitfulness. Our message notes can be found here http://www.gatheringcafe.com/thewestsidegathering/podcasts/WSGmsg20240721_JohnW.pdf

This psalm addresses two aspects of human life that people have always cared about: work and family. It shows us that, without God, those things end up being pointless and fruitless.
Songs of Ascent (Psalm 127) - Cody Averett
Bobby McFerrin, in his 1988 hit “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” tells us to just stop worrying. It is a very catchy tune with a great “hook” that will stay in your mind for days. But he doesn’t tell us HOW to stop worrying. For that answer we turn to King Solomon, one of the wisest men to ever live. In one of only two Psalms attributed to him, Solomon teaches us that self-reliance and the unavoidable worrying that comes with it leads to vanity. But reliance on God’s provision and protection, acknowledging that HE is in control of everything, is the only way to build anything of lasting value and the only way to achieve true rest and security. Come along with us as we learn the only way to “Don’t Worry, Be Happy.”

I think we've all purchased something that we had to assemble. Now if we are wise we use the instructions given us by the creator of the product. But I'm sure some of you are like me and have thought, “who needs instructions, I can do this.” Only to end up with extra parts and some frustration. My point is, wisdom says, that I heed the instructions of the maker. So too with family. To operate correctly we heed the instructions of the maker/God. So, during this message in our family series we will do just that, heed the instructions of the Maker/God. ———————————————————————————————Connect with us on Social Media:Website: nbcc.com/Facebook: facebook.com/nbccnorcoInstagram: instagram.com/nbccnorcoYouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6S-3n9PVnXm8zSPHAYVyGw----------------------------------------If you have any prayer requests or questions, please message us on our social media or send us an email at hello@nbcc.com.
