Dedicated in April 1981, the 1.3 acre garden was built through the generosity of Mrs. Loraine Miller Collins in memory of her late husband, Earl Burns Miller. Following three years of planning, in cooperation with California State University Long Beach, landscape architect Edward R. Lovell was chosen to oversee its creation. The resulting garden reflects the university’s continued interest in international education, student and community engagement, as well as the Miller's interests in nature and wellness.  The university is delighted to share this educational, cultural, and aesthetic resource with you. – CSULB

Consecrated in 1824, as part of the major construction programme initiated by Governor Lachlan Macquarie, St James' Church is now the oldest existing church building in the City of Sydney. It has been the venue for many historic events including the enthronement of the first, and only, Bishop of Australia, William Grant Broughton (for whom the church became his cathedral). Through history, St James has been a place of ministry to a diversity of people ranging from the Governor, military personnel and convicts at its beginnings to the great array of people who work and live in the city today and those who come from the wider metropolitan area for Sunday worship. In textual studies, a palimpsest (/ˈpælɪmpsɛst/) is a manuscript page, either from a scroll or a book, from which the text has been scraped or washed off in preparation for reuse[1] in the form of another document.[2] Parchment was made of lamb, calf, or goat skin and was expensive and not readily available, so, in the interest of economy, a page was often re-used by scraping off the previous writing. Formerly the ‘Rum Hospital' – oldest surviving public building in Sydney's CBDBuilt for a cost of 45,000 gallons of rum, The Mint is rich in history. It was originally part of Governor Macquarie's ‘Rum' hospital for convicts and later became the first branch of the Royal Mint outside London.
