Today's 2 topics: - Astronomers have yet to discover any long lasting natural object, beside our Moon, which orbits the Earth, however, occasionally, a small space rock enters into a temporary dance with our home planet.   - My Catalina Sky Survey teammate Greg Leonard was asteroid hunting in the constellation of Hydra with our Schmidt telescope on Mt. Bigelow, Arizona when a fast moving unknown point of light passed through a set of his images. After Greg reported his observations to the Minor Planet Center for the next 10 days it was tracked by observatories in Arizona, Italy, Hawaii, Australia, and Argentina.  Citizen scientist H. A. Güler analyzed these data. The Minor Planet Center published the discovery of the near Earth asteroid 2018 CN41. Przyspieszanie - jeden objaw, wiele historii.Przyspieszanie to moment, w którym koń sam zmienia chód na wyższy albo zaczyna dodawać energii w tym, w którym już się porusza. Na pierwszy rzut oka wygląda to zawsze podobnie, ale w rzeczywistości bardzo rzadko oznacza to samo. Przyspieszanie jest objawem, a nie problemem samym w sobie. I dopóki będziemy traktować je jak główny kłopot do „opanowania”, dopóty będziemy z nim walczyć bez trwałego efektu. Ten sam objaw może wynikać z zupełnie różnych powodów. Z osobowości konia, z jego wcześniejszych doświadczeń, z relacji z człowiekiem, z niezrozumienia sygnałów, z napięcia emocjonalnego, z braku równowagi albo z bólu. Dlatego jedna technika na przyspieszanie nie istnieje. Można ją powtarzać latami i wciąż wracać do tego samego punktu, bo technika co najwyżej wyłącza objaw, a nie usuwa przyczyny, która za nim stoi.Najczęściej walczymy z przyspieszaniem dlatego, że nie rozumiemy jego przyczyny. Stosujemy rozwiązania przypadkowe albo zapożyczone, niepasujące do konkretnego konia i do naszej relacji. Tymczasem korekty w przejściach w dół mają sens tylko wtedy, gdy są elementem większej całości. Zasada trzech próśb i korekt, pyknięcia na linie, działania batem w strefie pierwszej, zmiany kierunku z ziemi czy z siodła pyknięcia na wodzy wznoszącej, zgięcia boczne i odangażowania zadu są narzędziami mechanicznymi. Działają jak wyłącznik objawu. Pomagają zwolnić, ale same w sobie nie rozwiązują problemu.

Comet COMET 240P/NEAT with a small version of itself cruising along beside it.It is virtually impossible to predict if Vivian's fragment 240P-B will survive to make another approach to the Sun in 2033 or so.

Well, we thought about AI again. This time Andy joined us. Jake, as promised, went Marx Grudge. He read from Marx's "Fragment of Machines," and listed the many lawsuits currently levied against "AI vendors." That said, he also couldn't help thinking about the future of porn. Sagi spoke about the metaphysical utilitarian progress underpinning AI, certain that the only real thing AI can do is solve the stupid analytic philosophy trolley problem. Oh, that and get a high score on an IQ test. Andy introduced the Tower of Babel and helped us think about how concrete thinking is overtaking the younger generation. AI, entirely focused on space, and against time, leaves no room for ethics, for thought, for enjoying petites madeleines. Listen past the end, for a Proustian surprise.
