For today's premiere we have the return of the poison dart frog aka GIFKIKKER, the Belgian imprint with whom we spoke a few months ago for our Label Spotlight series. Known for having a razor sharp, psychedelic edge as well as a deep connection to the natural world, they takes things in a softer direction this time with some light & airy drum & bass. You never quite know what to expect from the collective but they work hard to create a common thread of atmospheric consistency which really shows. They're also committed to showcasing local talent bubbling within the Belgian scene. The 4-track EP is the debut from Belgian newcomer Blossoms Overnight. The first track on the release, ‘Aumira', is a beautiful deep breath of ambience with sparse, floaty breakbeats peppered throughout & a steady dubby groove. It's a track for those moments when the sun just starts to come up over the horizon in the early hours of the morning, ushering in warmth & the promise of a new day. The EP includes a remix from a fellow Belgian artist a.brehme which was premiered recently by our friends over at Oslated. ‘GIFKIKKER011' is set to release digitally on November 14th. @blossomsovernight @gifkikker-bxl https://www.instagram.com/gifkikker_bxl/ Write up by @aspetuckmusic Follow us on social media: @itsdelayed linktr.ee/delayed www.delayed.nyc www.facebook.com/itsdelayed www.instagram.com/_____delayed www.youtube.com/@_____delayed Contact us: info@delayed.nyc

The Crystals hit number one with their version of Gene Pitney's ‘He's a Rebel' on 3rd November, 1962, but it was actually another of Phil Spector's girl-groups, The Blossoms, who had recorded the song. The two groups never even met, until awkwardly posing together for Spector's iconic Christmas album cover. Lead singer Darlene Love, realising her $5,000 fee was a fraction of what the song had made, demanded royalties - leading Spector to turn his attention to The Ronettes instead… Arion, Rebecca and Olly discover how the success of He's A Rebel led to Spector's absurd 10-minute “swan song” Let's Do the Screw, a parting blow to his business partners; explain why Love changed her name by deed poll; and consider how Spector's “Wall of Sound” Spector created a major impact, but at the expense of his artists' well-being… Further Reading: • 'Darlene Love Remembers Phil Spector, Their Thorny Relationship' (Billboard, 2021): https://www.billboard.com/music/music-news/darlene-love-remembers-phil-spector-9512712/ • ‘The Voices Of Black Women Were Essential To Phil Spector's Wall Of Sound' (NPR, 2021): https://www.npr.org/2021/01/21/959057719/the-voices-of-black-women-were-essential-to-phil-spectors-wall-of-sound • ‘The Crystals - He's a Rebel' (Philles, 1962): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waRbcqP4cUI Love the show? Song of Solomon 1:1-17: Love Blossoms

The Song of Solomon was likely written by King Solomon early in his reign. Despite the way his wives multiplied later in life, Solomon's song speaks of the joy of marriage between one man and one woman. As the bride and the bridegroom speak to one another, they await with joy their coming marriage and praise the excellent qualities of each other. Throughout the Song, the love between Solomon and his bride provides a picture of the love that exists between Christ and His Church.  Rev. David Boisclair, pastor at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Overland, MO, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study Song of Solomon 1:1-17.  To learn more about Our Redeemer Lutheran, visit ourredeemerstl.org. “God's Gift of Marriage” is a mini-series on Sharper Iron that studies the Song of Solomon and other key texts from the Bible concerning marriage. Although the world is terribly confused concerning what marriage is, God's Word reveals how good a gift marriage truly is and points us to the relationship between Christ, the Bridegroom, and His Church, the Bride.  Sharper Iron, hosted by Rev. Timothy Appel, looks at the text of Holy Scripture both in its broad context and its narrow detail, all for the sake of proclaiming Christ crucified and risen for sinners. Two pastors engage with God's Word to sharpen not only their own faith and knowledge, but the faith and knowledge of all who listen. Submit comments or questions to: listener@kfuo.org

Back in 2017, the Bad Decision Dinosaur was particularly busy in Riverdale Chapter 10: The Lost Weekend, and Carrie decided to stage a friendtervention with her cohost Jake about it. What is Betty's least favorite word? Can Archie manage to throw a worse party than the Blossoms? Why does Jughead make our hearts hurt? Just how great is the democratic process? Old secrets are revealed, and new secrets made up, in this week's episode of 'Cheryl-y You're Joking', in which we learn that you can take a snake out of the South Side, but you can't make it drink. The theme song is "JOSIE HAS THE UPPER HAND" by Josh Woodward. Free download: http://joshwoodward.com/

In The Past: Garage Rock Podcast

Each version of Jackie DeShannon's "Each Time" is a treasure! We start with Jackie's original 1964 demo, which swerves from the Spectorian template and adds Mexican mariachi horns ... with backing vocals by The Blossoms, it's a winner! The same year, The Bon Bon's made the song a proper Girl Group Great with some nice doo-wop touches and cash register percussion!(?)! The Searchers brought their 12-strings and harmonizing to the song and it's especially heartbreaking in the outro. Argentina's Grupo Uno translated the song into Spanish ("Vuelvete") and their intro really wows us - the whole song is velvety! In the early 80s, Seattle's new wave chick Leslee Swanson made a nice kitchen-sink version that follows the Searcher's recipe closely. Finally, in '88 Marti Jones came out with a rockin' version that cuts away a lot of the melancholy, to great effect! Always good, it's with us you belong!

Some stories crack you open—in the best possible way. In this moving episode, Lyndsay Soprano sits down with Julie Barth to talk about what it really takes to keep going when life keeps hitting hard. From surviving domestic violence to caring for her special needs daughter and losing her husband to cancer, Julie's story is one of pain, yes—but also one of grit, grace, and quiet strength.Together, she and Lyndsay talk about the layered reality of motherhood, the exhaustion of caregiving, and the way grief can stretch far beyond a single moment of loss. But this isn't a story about defeat. It's about choosing to get back up. Julie shares how advocacy became her purpose, how community gave her strength, and how art became a powerful outlet for healing. This conversation is a reminder that resilience isn't something you're born with—it's something you build. And even in the darkest seasons, there is light to be found when women show up for each other.Tune in if you need a reminder that pain can shape purpose—and that you don't have to walk through it alone.Find Julie Barth Online Here:Instagram: @julie_barth_authorFacebook: Julie BarthLinkedIn: Julie BarthWebsite: juliebarthauthor.comTikTok: Julie Barth AuthorFind The Pain Game Podcast Online Here:Website: thepaingamepodcast.comInstagram: @thepaingamepodcastFacebook: The Pain Game PodcastLinkedIn: Lyndsay SopranoYouTube: The Pain Game PodcastEpisode Highlights:(00:00) Introduction to Chronic Pain and Trauma(02:13) Resilience Through Personal Struggles(03:50) Julie Barth's Journey with Tatum(10:19) Facing Loss and Caregiving Challenges(17:36) Navigating New Relationships and Challenges(21:32) The Impact of Domestic Violence(33:40) From Pain to Purpose: Julie's Books and Outreach

Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. US bureau chief Jacob Magid joins host Amanda Borschel-Dan for today's episode. US President Donald Trump on Thursday demanded the end of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s ongoing criminal trial. Netanyahu is on trial in three corruption cases, facing charges of bribery, fraud and breach of trust. Among other comments, Trump wrote, “It was the United States of America that saved Israel, and now it is going to be the United States of America that saves Bibi Netanyahu. THIS TRAVESTY OF ‘JUSTICE’ CAN NOT BE ALLOWED!” Magid weighs in. Yesterday, it was announced that US and Iranian officials will hold nuclear talks next week, even as Tehran insisted it will not give up its nuclear program and the US has claimed the program was "obliterated." Magid breaks down some of the conflicting information and offers insight into what kind of deal may take shape following the Israel-Iran war. Israel reportedly halted aid deliveries into Gaza after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced that he ordered the military to present a plan within the next two days on how to keep Hamas from stealing humanitarian assistance. Magid tries to makes sense of what is reportedly taking place on the ground. Families of hostages held in Gaza hope the ceasefire with Iran, which went into effect on Tuesday will mark a turning point — one that could lead to a truce with Hamas and finally bring their loved ones home. “Those who are capable of reaching a ceasefire with Iran can also put an end to the war in Gaza,” the Hostages and Missing Families Forum said in a statement. “Ending the operation in Iran without using it to return all the hostages would be a grave diplomatic failure.” Magid has some optimism for more talks and explains why.
