What are some joys you feel in our life in this present moment? What are some things that make you happy, even small things that you can do now to bring a little more joy into your day? In talking about St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Andrea brought up how at some point in her life, St. Elizabeth came to a place of acceptance and found the strength to persevere through her pain. Have you been able to “sit in a place of ‘it just is what it is'” as Andrea mentioned? Is this something you currently struggle with in your own journey?Have you ever had any times in your life when you found it difficult to trust God because you were in a season of darkness? What helped bring you out of it? What is your relationship like in terms of trusting God now?  It's easy to get caught up in the busyness of life and allow that to affect our prayer lives. How do you feel about your prayer life right now?  Take some time to explore that. When was the last time you took time to rest, to really withdraw in silence for God to meet you where you are? What is your mourning glory? Are you new to the podcast? In this episode I present a feature length sound magazine, put together with audio from a field recording project  carried out at Sandemar Reserve in Sweden. In May 2025, I decided to concentrate heavily on this incredible site, using both active and passive methods of recording. A great deal of time was spent at the site at a time when the reserve is at it's busiest. Sandemar Reserve is an area that I have become extremely familiar with over the years and I have now birded regularly at the site for over twenty years. Over that entire period, the site has continually thrown up  surprises. From my experiences here, I knew that a focused field recording project though the month of May would result in a large amount of remarkable audio.  Over the course of a month I visited the reserve many times, greatly enjoying the sounds of this incredible area, which is blessed with a multitude of different habitats. As migrants began to stream through the area and breeding species began to take up territories, the soundscape became more and more varied. Some rather special local species were among them, along with a few surprises. The more I drilled down, the more I uncovered...Leave a comment here....Support the showSubscibe to Wild Bird Acoustics here;https://wildbirdacoustics.buzzsprout.comLots more audio related material here at my long running website;https://blogbirder.blogspot.com/

My dad used to call it being a sissy pup.Not willing to get dirty.Sugarcoating the world instead of feeling it.Animals get eaten alive. People get shot. Nature is brutal. But spring happens, blossoms smell amazing, you get new puppies. That's the duality—simultaneously beautiful and terribly brutal. True expansion comes from feeling the depths, not numbing them. You can't pour from an empty cup, so you need to be selfish to a paradoxical degree. Make sure you're charged. Try this: walk for 5 minutes, write how you feel. Then watch the news for 5 minutes, write how you feel. Notice the difference. When you carry light into darkness, the dark becomes light. Failure is a propelling force. Even when you're bloody, sweaty, smelly, broke—you still got it. The snake sheds its skin. You go through the mud, clean off, go through again. It changes you. And here's the paradox: you have to be willing to live without your desires to know what you actually care about. This episode reveals why sugarcoating prevents expansion, how to neutralize your perspective to see power in failure, and the intricate complexity that's both brutal and magnificent. Life is hard. Feel it.
