There are a lot of nostalgic shows getting remade, rebooted, revisited, re-everything. We decided to take a lot at what's out there, what's been working, and what we don't want touched at all. Join Sarah, Keith and Travis as they discuss what works and doesn't work when it comes to a good reboot. Did you see that Disney Pixar bracket going around this week? Well, Myles decided it was a horrible bracket and made us an all new one to discuss with. It got heated tonight. Words were said, tears were shed, and friendships were threatened. NCAA's March Madness has nothing on the madness that happened with this bracket. Listen to hear which Disney or Pixar movie won. We were very lucky to have Whitney and Patrick from Naro Video hang out with us. We talked about their highly successful Kickstarter campaign, how the shelves are doing, and what Naro Video has coming out besides just new releases. Our local video store, Naro Video, has the biggest collection of videos on the east coast. We supported their Kickstarter recently and pledged at a level that gave us a shelf for a whole month. We got the month of April, so it's time to start discussing which 12-15 movies we want on that shelf. We have a lot of favorite movies, so how do we decide? We let you all help us, that's how! We want to hear your top 5 selections and your suggestions for how we should choose our movies. We had a lot of good feedback in this episode, so check it out now! We didn't want to watch the State of the Union tonight (not that we ever do anyways). We know you weren't too keen on the idea either. So we decided to use the theme of the night and discuss our favorite speeches, rants, and monologues from pop culture. What are some of your favorites? We had a topic all planned out for today's show, then we heard the news that Ryan Reynolds and the Deadpool writers were working on a Clue remake. Who knows if it'll be a remake of the 1985 classic or a whole new take, either way, we're excited! So we decided to cast the movie before they do. Maybe they'll listen to our suggestions. Join us as we cast the movie, and let us know who you would've cast in the roles! This is an exciting episode for us. We got to interview Eric and Julia Lewald, former show runner and writer for one of our favorite 90's show, X-Men the Animated Series! They recently wrote a book, "Previously on X-Men", about how the show got put together and how it all ran behind the scenes. The book is awesome and so was the interview! We hope you enjoy it as much as we did. We're back and we're excited for the new year! We've had a few weeks off, so we decided to catch up and take a look at all the amazing stuff we have to look forward to in 2018. Before that though, we discussed the Golden Globes with Henry and new releases in comics this week with Greg of Local Heroes. Of course all of this wouldn't be complete without a total sidetrack and trip down memory lane discussing "Hey Dude" and old Nickelodeon shows. Okay, so we're not going over EVERY movie that came out in December. We mainly wanted to talk about The Disaster Artist and Star Wars Episode VIII The Last Jedi. Sarah wanted to discuss her obsession with The Christmas Prince too! Dean joined us tonight to talk about them. We've had one heck of a year. It's been a busy year! We've played, watched, and enjoyed A LOT of things. We didn't even get to all of what we wanted to. We decided to at least list our top comics, video games, tv shows, and movies for 2017. What were yours? Sarah and Keith went to see Coco. They loved it enough that we had to spend this episode talking about it. Tears may have resulted because it's just that darn good. It gets pretty heavy in this episode. You've been warned. We also touched on our Black Friday purchases too. It's Thanksgiving week! We were going to do a short show because of the holiday, but once we got talking, we couldn't stop. Too much to discuss! We all saw Justice League and really enjoyed it. We got in-depth with the Andy Kaufman/Jim Carrey documentary. And we all started The Punisher. Plenty to talk about, not enough time. Don't forget to join us live every Tuesday night at 8 PM EST at www.facebook.com/poppedshow. www.poppedshow.com
EA and Battlefront 2 have been making the news lately for the high cost and time needed to unlock playable heroes. They have reduced the costs for these heroes before we had our show, but we decided it was worth it (no pun intended) to discuss gaming and how these microtransactions have affected the industry and our playing and spending habits. We had Myles join us in Sarah's absence, and we had contributor to the show Travis jump in to give his thoughts too. Don't forget to join us LIVE every Tuesday night at 8 PM EST at www.facebook.com/poppedshow. www.poppedshow.com
Even though all three of us are here tonight, Sarah spends the last third of the show trying to figure out a generic white guy who's short and wears a pork pie hat. Easy right? While she tries to figure out who she's thinking of, Matt and Keith discuss with the audience if Disney buying 20th Century Fox is a good thing. Is it? Maybe, maybe not. Don't forget to join us LIVE every Tuesday night at 8 PM EST at www.facebook.com/poppedshow. www.poppedshow.com
We weren't going to do a Halloween show, but we decided we had too much to talk about not to do a small show at the very least. We talked about Matt's recent trip to Universal Halloween Horror Nights (complete with video of the event) and the debut of Stranger Things 2. Don't forget to join us live every Tuesday night at 8 PM EST at www.facebook.com/poppedshow. www.poppedshow.com
We've lost Matt to Disney, so Dean filled in this week for him. There are a lot of "classic" movies out there. So many that we haven't seen all of them. We decide to discuss which ones we haven't seen but want to. Maybe there are some we haven't seen but don't really need to based on viewer input. Don't forget to join us live every Tuesday night at 8 PM EST at www.facebook.com/poppedshow. www.poppedshow.com
Tonight was a show of firsts (and possibly lasts). We had a live studio audience, we drank before the show, we didn't have Sarah. We talked with Henry about TV. We showed off the video where Matt and Keith hung out outside an old life saving station. Eventually, the dudes got around to the topic of fictional character deaths. Which deaths did we hope more from? Which characters do we wish stayed dead? Listen and find out! Don't forget to join us LIVE every Tuesday night at 8 PM EST at www.facebook.com/poppedshow. www.poppedshow.com
No Sarah tonight, so Matt and Keith had to hold it down by themselves. Nothing got burned down. The new Star Wars trailer dropped the night before, so we discuss that at the end of the show. Before we get to that though, we talk about what's going on in the pop culture world and plenty of retro stuff too like the N64. Don't forget to join us LIVE every Tuesday night at 8 PM EST at www.facebook.com/poppedshow. www.poppedshow.com
Matt couldn't make it tonight, so Sarah and Keith hold it down in the Popped Cave. We've got Greg talking comics, Henry talking TV, and we wrap it up with a discussion about pop culture conspiracy theories. Which is your favorite? Don't forget to join us live every Tuesday night at 8 PM EST at www.facebook.com/poppedshow. www.poppedshow.com
The gang tries to decide which actors could play the Avengers if they casted an old person version of The Avengers today. Listen now and see who we cast in Avengers: Age of Senility! Don't forget to join us live every Tuesday night at 8 PM EST at www.facebook.com/poppedshow. www.poppedshow.com
Matt and Keith are joined by Dean to talk film and television critics. Are they still relevant in today's social media driven pop landscape? All that plus news and Comics w/Greg. Don't forget to join us live every Tuesday night at 8 PM EST at www.facebook.com/poppedshow. www.poppedshow.com
Keith is out but don't worry, because Myles is sitting in with Matt and Sarah. We talk to some of the peeps from the play Neverwhere, based on the Neil Gaiman book, and then talk some social media and its affect on movie openings. All that plus Comics with Juan, News and of course Star Corn. Don't forget to join us live every Tuesday night at 8 PM EST at www.facebook.com/poppedshow. www.poppedshow.com
While perusing the news, the Popped crew found out you could be cremated and your ashes could be pressed into vinyl. So naturally this led to a discussion on which album exactly do you get pressed into. Is it even an album you get pressed into? Maybe we want to be pressed into a classic video game cartridge. Don't forget to join us LIVE every Tuesday night at 8 PM EST at www.facebook.com/poppedshow. www.poppedshow.com
We love our local pop culture scene. It's why we have Greg from Local Heroes on every week! Today though, we're supporting another local Hampton Roads institution, Naro Video. They have been around for over 20 years serving all our home video needs. Yes, streaming services are convenient, but they don't have the library that Naro Video has. Naro Video has over 42,000 titles! We supported their Kickstarter (which got fully funded and then some), and hear us talk about ways to integrate Naro Video into the modern era of streaming services. Don't forget to join us LIVE every Tuesday night at 8 PM EST at www.facebook.com/poppedshow. www.poppedshow.com
Technology is amazing. It makes things easier in our life and allows us access to things we would not be usually able to obtain. However, with many of us cutting the cable and shifting to streaming, EVERYONE wants to have their own streaming service. Instead of having one or two easy apps on our devices, we have 20. Are we reaching a saturation point where we are missing quality shows because we don't feel like downloading an extra app? We discuss it and what our personal preferences are. Don't forget to join us LIVE every Tuesday night at 8 PM EST at www.facebook.com/poppedshow. www.poppedshow.com
Trailers either get you hyped for a movie or scare you away. We discuss some of the worst, some of the best, and what made them really enjoyable (sometimes more enjoyable than the movie itself)? It's been a full summer with movies galore. We decide to take these movies and play a little game with them by remixing some of the plot lines, actors, and whatever else we feel like. Don't forget to join us LIVE every Tuesday night at 8 PM EST at www.facebook.com/poppedshow. www.poppedshow.com
