Issue #1 comes out December 6th and you're in for a real treat. This is a good old-fashioned creature feature but with a modern sensibility. Every week is shark week for Walter Ostlie and Bob Frantz of "Metalshark Bro"! This comic (co-written by Frantz and Kevin Cuffe) is a joyful, insane romp about a laid back shark forced to do the dirty work of Satan's nephew so he can just get back to his life in the sea. These two bring just as much fun and electricity to the conversation as they discuss everything from what type of hat a flying eyeball would wear, to which Jack Nicholson character GI Joe's "Shipwreck" is based on, and ponder if Jabberjaw was really a good drummer. You can donate now to the kickstarter for Metalshark Bro vol. 2 at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/637571649/metalshark-bro Don't forget you can buy some super cool "Double Page Spread" merch with the Lil Cappy or Lil Dreddy logos at www.doublepagespread.threadless.com Brought to you by www.blackphoenixalchemylab.com where you can dabble in their new beard oils based on "Hellboy"! We’re talking sharks, metal music and a plethora of pies! Co-creators Kevin Cuffe and Bob Frantz join me along with artist Walt Ostile to present Metal Shark Bro! How did Kevin and Bob cook up the idea of an anthropomorphic shark that is hell bent on killing sell-you-soul contact breakers on behalf of Satan’s nephew, Beelzebra? How is AC/DC connected to Metal Shark Bro’s origin? We have a lot more to sink your teeth into this installment of Creator Talks. What tips does Kevin offer single parents? Just what is Pie-fest for the Frantz family? What is the best heavy metal band according to each of my guests? I share my experience of going to my first metal concert featuring Stone Sour and Ozzy Osbourne. What is Kevin’s connection with an Ozzy band member? What was it like when Kevin met Jason Newsted, former bass player of Ozzy’s Band and Metallica? Bob expounds on the powerful and lasting effect of Led Zeppelin. Plus: more fun questions for all my guests. Bonus: Bob ad-libs a theme song for the segment! At least 88 pages of story and a slew of pinups from some of the most metal talent in the comic bizness. There will be cursing, violence…oh sweet, bloody violence, but there will be no nudity or sex, maybe innuendo. Like Deadpool, if he was eaten by a shark and it was all scored by shredding guitars. This week's guests are writer Kevin Cuffe and artist Paul Gori. Kevin and Paul are the creators of the comic book Oathbound, presented by Loophole Comics, which combines the elements of fantasy epics and spaghetti westerns to tell a tale of family and redemption. Kevin and Paul tell the story of their close friendship which started on twitter despite being on opposite sides of the United States, not to mention the rest of the crew, which is located internationally. Though well-versed in comics, the two creators expressed the challenges in learning how to effectively market themselves during the Kickstarter campaign. We also discuss favorite fantasy movies from the 1980's, great spaghetti western moments and the frustrating-yet-hilarious difficulties we've faced in regarding out last names.
