This may not be the podcast or post for those whose job relies on perfection if you are make semi-conductors, are an engineer, chemist, surgeon, architect, etc. Perfection and precision are required. However if you are a creative, a writer, a musician, a songwriter, or an artist. If you discover new ideas, or market a product or invent and design, perfection may be a procrastination technique that is preventing you from finishing. Maybe you can't silence the voice that says this isn't done, or maybe you are scared to release your idea and afraid of criticism. Deliver your idea in your style, with your voice!

Crown Guitar Festival, just celebrated it’s sixth year. This is a week long workshop and festival held at the Flathead Lake Lodge in Bigfork, MT. Every night there is a performance by leading guitarists in their genre. During the day students attend classes taught by experienced and skilled guitar instructors. In the afternoon you can find one of the performers giving a master class. The meals are exceptional and are great way to collaborate, meet and celebrate with the participants, their families, special guests, board members, sponsors, donors, bass and drum players and all the others that make the week go so smooth. The idea was conceived by David Feffer who loved guitar and wanted to create something amazing in his home area. Crown of the Continent Guitar Foundation was born with the concept to “promote the artistry of the guitar across all genres in a non-competitive community environment” and to provide a place for guitarists to be creativley inspired from the beauty here in northwestern Montana. I am ever thankful that they also have an incredible scholarship program, through generous donors and sponsors 15 people from our local area were able to attend. Through Crown Guitar Fellowships 13 other students were able to attend, which included three international students. The recap of the performances by LA Guitar Quartet, Jon Herrington, Madeleine Peyroux, Lee Ritenour, Dave Grusin, Brett Dennen, David Grissom, Dweezil Zappaand Romero Lubambo. This was an incredible week of guitar music, of talent and performers.
Ep7 Judge Not -Songs Inside This podcast is about judging people when we know nothing about them. Don't be fool enough to think you can know a person's character after a few moments of observation. You can't. You have no idea where his life began or how his saga has unfolded thus far. Only his present state can you witness. To judge him at a glance is like reading one page in an open book, believing it's enough to confidently recite the story from beginning to end. True, one page may tell you much, but not nearly enough to accurately critique a book or evaluate a life. So, either become his friend and learn his entire story, or refrain from commenting on a tale you know nothing about.” ― Richelle E. Goodrich Today I listenend to Marcy Langlois on Risk episode titled Surrender they did such a good job with her story. I encourage you all to listen to it after this one. Her story fits in so well this episode, it makes not doubt how some things are meant to be. I had been struggling to find the right story for this episode, I went through bad metaphors , scientific backgrounds and studies on the human brain about why we judge. But I was really looking for a personal story about someone being judged and who also judged themselves. My personal story with the song You Don't Know Me seemed trivial and contrite because it was more about the incident that got me to write the song more than the feeling I was trying to convey. But Marcy's story is amazing for transformation she has gone through, for the trauma she has endured, for the self hatred she lashed upon herself. Marcy's story works within this episode because we all want to feel connected and have the basic need to feel accepted and valued for who we are. Our traumas, struggles and heartaches are not bumper stickered to our faces. Before you judge someone reflect on the Golden Rule " Do unto others as you would have them do unto you Norman Rockwell painted a nice visual for this one. If you have something to share about being judged or just want to comment on the podcast you can leave me a review like Kip did , go to itunes in your desktop or laptop and find the Songs Inside podcast then hit Suscribe, then you will see the Rating and Review box, click that and leave your comment and a five star rating if you think I deserve it. Thanks for sticking around, I'll talk to you next week. Kate does not have nearly the attention she deserves. In these early episodes her passion, talent and drive are both impressive and evident. She does a wonderful job as a solo host and keeps her audience engaged and informed. As others have said, she has a marvelous voice which is a pleasure to hear. The knowledge and variety she brings to each episode is also thoroughly entertaining. Finally, Kate keeps each episode interesting without dragging anything out. This is truly a lovely show! Kip Clark of Stride and Saunter Lyrics You Don't Know Me I have taken the sword from my side I have loosened the noose from where it was tied You don’t know me yet you judge me all the same You don't know me you throw stones to ease their pain Chorus No you don’t know you don’t know you don't don’t know me You don’t know what I don’t show I come from the ashes of a burned out flame Don’t recognize myself in my own name I try to tell myself there should be no shame Done what I;ve done, there’s no one to blame. Bridge I can hear things you don't want me to see I see you laughing and pointing at nothing funny You think I'm a tender rosebud I'm a Dire Wolf! Chorus
This novel was written in 1899 it shares the struggle of a woman coming into herself, her mistakes and her passions. The song I share was created on Abelton and also titled The Awakening and was inspired in part by this book. Here are some quotes from the book: She was becoming herself and daily casting aside that fictitious self which we assume like a garment with which to appear before the world. She had all her life long been accustomed to harbor thoughts and emotions which never voiced themselves. It was not despair, but it seemed to her as if life were passing by, leaving its promises broken and unfulfilled. Yet there were other days when she listened, was led on and deceived by fresh promises which her youth had held out to her. One of these days, she said, I'm going to pull myself together for a while and think - try to determine what character of a woman I am, for, candidly, I do not know. By all the codes which I am acquainted with, I am a devilishly wicked specimen of the sex. But some way I can't convince myself that I am. I must think about it. First lady Michelle Obama discussed the challenges she faced as a working mother and the importance of employers putting their employee’s families first with Robin Roberts. She talked about having her daughter work minimum wage jobs to understand working America. In addition, she stressed the importance of putting pressures on politicians to change the public discussion. This was the closing session of the first-ever White House Summit on Working Families was held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel by the White House Council on Women and Girls, the Labor Department Women’s Bureau, and the Center for America Progress to focus on creating a 21st century workplace that works for all Americans. This summit brought together businesses, economists, labor leaders, legislators, advocates, and working citizens to talk through the very real issues facing the full spectrum of working families — from low-wage workers to executives. "This is a movement, not a moment." said, Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett .
