In many ways this episode is one I really loved because it was like a homecoming of sorts as she had a journey into Boston as did I many decades earlier. Here was a woman who really knows jazz and how to sing it and has the deepest connections with some of the greats in the music. Hearing her stories about her many accomplishments (did I say she is also a therapist and psychologist?) and, above all, seeing and hearing the great achievement of her album, a simply beautiful work of art that literally appears to singlehandedly bring back the record album era made for an episode that was joyous.  This episode is what our podcast is all about.More about the magnificent Vivienne Aerts:Dutch New York-based vocalist, conductor, and composer with a focus on electronics, chocolate, and multi-sensory experience design, as well as a clinical psychologist and faculty at Berklee College of Music in Boston. ( Extended bio available on her beautiful website -www.vivienneaerts.com )Social Links to Ms. Aerts and her new album: www.vivienneaerts.nl/links The story of her new album Current The journey of this album started a couple of years ago. When the world ground to a halt in 2020, I bought a small 1951 mahogany sailboat to disappear into for a while. I renamed it 'De Vouw' which is Dutch for 'The Fold'; a nod to origami, but also to folding the water when it moves. During our early outings, I quickly found out that there is a stillness on the water that could be used as a living studio. There is a natural reverb that I found appealing - it gave a very vivid signature to a recording. In the summer of 2025, we set out to record this album on that same little sailboat. I grew up in this region of the Netherlands, and water has always been around us. My husband grew up on these waters and is an avid sailor, so he knows them like the back of his hand. During this two-week process, I got to use that natural reverb that started it all, but I also learned about the wind, the sun, reeds and all the different birds around me. I learned about my own country by returning to its root: the water. And, I got to know myself a little bit better in the process; who I am, what I need, how my creativity flows, and how much of it I can actually control. Just the two of us on a tiny boat in the middle of the lake, surrounded by nature, feeling both free and strangely stuck at the same time.We traveled from our hometown Leiden, to Lake Braassem, all the way up to Amsterdam and back. Along the way, we met up with saxophonist Susanne Alt on the side of Beatrix Park, and we recorded harmonica player Hermine Deurloo in a secret spot on the canals in the oldest part of Amsterdam. We carried Adinda Meertins' double bass onto De Vouw and drifted into the middle of the lake, where it also ended up serving as a wind blocker. We met friends and family at the small water lock in Roelofarendsveen, the mysterious photographer John Brussel, who lives hidden away in a little cabin on the shores of De Kaag, and we even found a few original Amsterdammers as well.I set out to make an album on the water, but in the end, I made an album with the water, guided by the current. Because when life becomes difficult, sometimes the only thing you can do is move with it. This album is a journey through where my music is right now, a love letter to Dutch waters, and the beginning of a new chapter in my artistry. This is me. R&B podcast, host Ian Von sits down with rising R&B/pop girl group 3Quency to talk about the modern resurgence of groups, building real sisterhood in the music industry, and carving out their own lane after their breakout on Netflix's Building the Band. They share how they formed “Love Is Blind–style” in pods without seeing each other, the pressure and beauty of carrying the legacy of 90s and 2000s girl groups, and how they navigate vocal health, touring, social media narratives, and independence as young artists. From stories of performing with lost voices and sprained ankles, to late-night “girls talk” that turned into a whole project, this conversation is a deep dive into authenticity, unity, and what it really takes to be a group in 2026. The ladies also perform a live a cappella snippet (Brandy's “Have You Ever”), talk through their creative process as songwriters, and reveal the powerful meaning behind their name, 3Quency.

#429 In this podcast episode, Guy talked with Viola Rose about the collective sense of change happening in the world and why she believed people were being called to live more from the heart. Viola explained how the mind often created reality through duality, while the heart offered a path toward unity, love, and deeper inner peace. She shared practices for moving awareness from the head into the heart and described how this helped people heal trauma, quiet the mind, and live with more ease.  They also discussed the Merkaba, sound healing, the power of the voice, and how nature, vibration, and frequency supported personal transformation.  By the end, Viola reflected that while she did not claim to know all the answers, she had chosen to live with love, service, joy, and trust in the mystery of life. About Viola: I am a "Transformational Sound Artist" and have been combining Music and Healing as "Sound-Healing" in my own inspired way for over 25 years. A Multi-Instrumentalist and inspired Vocalist, I enjoy playing Handpan, Gong, various Flutes, Shamanic drum, Sansula, Didgeridoo, and more. Yet, for sure, my favorite instrument is my voice.  I am a facilitator for Drunvalo Melchizedek's "School of Remembering". I completed my Teacher training with Drunvalo in 2012. Since then I have taught about 100 4-day Awakening The Illuminated Heart workshops to well over 1000 people all over the West coast and Hawaii, and over the last 3 years online as well. I have also shared this information at many transformational festivals and events.  I am also a Certified Gong Practitioner - through Gong Master Metab Benton's school. A Certified Holistic Health Coach - through the Institute of Integrated Nutrition, and a Certified Laughter Yoga teacher - through Laughter Yoga International. GRAMMY® Balloted Club Nouveau, Timex Social ClubGrammy Award Balloted singer and music label executive, Jay King, was elected CEO/President of the California Black Chamber of Commerce (CBCC) in June of 2019.GRAMMY® Award Balloted Jay King/Club Nouveau's music & samples have been featured in many TV & Film Soundtracks including the #1 Hit Movie "US" by Director Jordan Peele! "Jealousy" also made an appearance on the soundtrack for the film Modern Girls. "Why You Treat Me So Bad" was interpolated by the hip-hop duo Luniz, on its hit single "I Got 5 on It", and subsequently by rapper/record producer Puff Daddy on his #1 R&B single "Satisfy You".This week, I look at how a brand can stay relevant decade after decade. As a veteran mogul Jay King brings as much humility to the field as he does what has been called his genius. With three decades of continuous achievements in music, management, film/TV/radio, consulting and publishing; King has made an indelible impression. He claims Northern California in general as his hometown due to a nomadic youth spent between many of the Bay Area's cities; as well as Alaska for birthing his career. There was a deep musical undercurrent added to his early years by a clan which boasted a number of ministers, extending from his great-grandfather through a number of cousins, who all played instruments as well. His great uncle, Saunders King, a respected jazz/blues guitarist, offered the West Coast the first family hit in the 1940's—‘The S.K. Blues'—adding to the musical backdrop of King's childhood. In 1986, King starting the independent record label JAY Records to release the Timex Social Club hit ‘Rumors' and ushered in the biggest selling single of 1986 (3.5 million copies) and becoming the #1 R&B single on the Billboard Charts. With a Top 10 single on the Billboard Pop charts for over 56 weeks, King watched his life change as his music became an unprecedented hit. What he'd produced was history-making, as nobody had before taken an R&B song from an indie label to such heights. Although having independently produced, pressed and marketed his own music King was without the money to compete at radio plays and had to be creative with promoting. “There were challenges. You couldn't reach out to stores, and social media didn't exist then so you couldn't let people know with a click of a button that you had something out. You had to get out and hustle. People were making fun of me and laughing because I was out hustling records.” Bypassing traditional methods, King utilized Macola Records because of its position as an indie manufacturer with no association to a major label.Club Nouveau's music is in heavy demand commercially in movies and is sampled in many of today's artists hit makers like Ashanti, Chris Brown and many more. The group is STILL on the scene, performing hundreds of LIVE concert a year & recording NEW music!© 2026 All Rights Reserved© 2026  Building Abundant Success!!Join Me on ~ iHeart Media @ https://tinyurl.com/iHeartBASSpot Me on Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/yxuy23baAmazon Music ~ https://tinyurl.com/AmzBASAudacy:  https://tinyurl.com/BASAud

In 1997, during Styx's tour, Lawrence Gowan's band performed as a supporting act for Styx at Montreal's Molson Center and Quebec City's Colisee. Tommty Shaw admired his talent and vibrant stage charisma and called him in May 1999 asking him to tour with them for 53 dates, temporarily replacing their lead singer, Dennis DeYoung who had fallen ill. Lawrence permaentaly replaced the lead singer after the tour.  Styx had long been plagued by differences in artistic inclination. DeYoung's absence created an opportunity for a more premanent restructuring of Styx. Lawrence subsequently became the band's permanent vocalist. This year, Styx' current tour includes Cheap Trick and later this summer, the "Windy Cities" tour begins with Chicago and Styx.  As always for our show notes, please visit our website: www.rockandrollconfessional.rocks Also we ask that you rate and subscribe the podcast where ever you can.
