It is no secret that many around the world are speaking and acting out for justice in a number of areas. But what does God have to say about justice? And what does that mean for those of us who call ourselves Christians? When are we supposed to act out? What do we do? In this episode, I share what I'm learning with the hope of helping you discern how to navigate these times.
In this episode, I share a prayer that Jesus prays before he goes to the cross. This prayer is for all of his followers to be one, and he and the Father are one. I believe this prayer is something that God is calling the church of today to listen to, and this episode explores what true Christian unity looks like and how we can create an environment of unity that glorifies God and attracts others to Him.
In this episode, I have a conversation with my 7 year old son, Noah. He has been very interested in the podcast and when he grows up he wants to be a preacher, so I invited him to record an episode with me. I hope you enjoy it! He would LOVE to receive a message from you - so please email me at thetalkinglifepodcast@gmail.com, and I will pass it on to him.
In this episode, I chat with Adem Guneyi, a man who experienced a radical transformation from a life of drugs and following Islam to a life of Jesus. Adem is now a pastor of Inner Life Church in Tauranga, New Zealand and is passionate about helping others experience the same transforming power that only Jesus can offer. Adem shares his story in a very open and honest way.
There are so many doom and gloom reports circulating regarding the global economy. While I don't know what the future holds, I do know that for followers of Jesus, we are left with some promises, as well as some ways that we can posture ourselves to receive God's provision. I believe these promises remain no matter what the economy says. My hope is that this podcast can encourage you in these times.
Approximately 1 in 10 couples experience infertility issues, but it also seems to be a topic that is rarely talked about. In this episode, I have a conversation with Tim and Vanessa Millar, who share a very open and honest account of their journey of struggling to conceive and IVF treatment. My hope is that this episode can help couples on that journey, or give you an idea of how to support couples you might know who are.
There are always a lot of voices that are clamouring for our attention. Today, more than ever, we need to learn to discover which voices are worth listening to, and which voices we need to discard. I would suggest that the ONLY voice that we should listen to is the voice of Jesus, and this podcast discusses that thought by exploring a Scripture in John 10.
There is no denying that we are living in times that the world has not experienced in a very long while. But what is God up to in all of this? In this podcast, I share some thoughts that above the awful reality of COVID-19, God is preparing His church and the world for some incredible moments. I hope this can encourage you.
Our world is changing rapidly with everything going on with the outbreak of the Corona Virus. In this episode, I briefly discuss how those of us who call ourselves Christian can respond, with the hope of you being encouraged and not frightened!
I have heard many teachings regarding the issue of giving and tithing - some churches don't talk about it at all, and others say that we are required biblically to give 10% of our income to our local church. I decided to research for myself about this, and in this episode I answer this question based on what I discovered.**This is a repost of the episode I released in February, 2020, but I have moved to a new podcast host and so had to repost it.
In this episode, I share a some words of encouragement that is resonating with not just me, but I believe many in the body of Christ for both 2020 and this upcoming decade. **This is a repost of the episode I released in January, 2020, but I have moved to a new podcast host and so had to repost it.
I’m sure you are already aware of this, but life is very unpredictable, and this world is also very messed up. And it can be easy in the mess and the challenges and the injustices of life to become overwhelmed with that, and to either ask God, “where are you? When will you act?” Or to just stop praying altogether. We can also come to that same place when we’re praying for and believing God for something in our own lives…and the answer doesn’t come, and we’re waiting, and waiting and waiting. In this episode. I want to speak into this, particularly about the importance of persevering in prayer and not giving up. The episode focuses on a parable that Jesus talks about in Luke chapter 18 about this very topic.
It has been a few weeks since I released an episode! In the first few minutes, I explain why, and then we explore the issue of forgive someone. This is something that every one of us will have to do in our lives, and when we understand the power of forgiveness and how to really forgive others, it will bring so much freedom to our lives. I have journeyed forgiveness on many occasions and in many ways, so I am sharing honestly and as someone who knows how hard it is. I hope it can help you!
Today I decided to speak into an issue that I didn't think I would speak into - climate change. I am no expert in the issue, but I do believe there are some ways that followers of Jesus should respond to the issue, especially with all of the strikes and activism going on around the world and young leaders like Greta Thunberg speaking out. Here are my thoughts.
Lately, I have been challenged to change the way I pray, and so in this episode I start to unpack what I have been learning about this in the Bible to help you to know how God thinks we should pray.

Recently I had the opportunity to preach a text of Scripture at a local church that was given to me, and as I was preparing this message, I found this passage very sobering and was confronted with how relevant this message is to the church today, particularly in the Western world. So as a result, I am sharing this message today. I hope and pray that you find it helpful.
In this 2 part series, I have a raw and honest conversation with Mark Davies - a man who loves and follows Jesus, and also experiences same sex attraction. We explore his journey of how he discovered this, how the church has handled it in the past, how this has shaped him today, and he offers suggestions and advice for others on how to handle and navigate this situation themselves.

In today's episode, I sit down with Kelci Merrick, a Christian who is also a yoga instructor. During this time we hear her story and also discuss why she believes Christians can engage with yoga.
