The MindTime Podcast is a Christian podcast for the growing believer. We ask, we challenge, and we encourage believers to intentionally think about their Christian lives in order to facilitate spiritual growth.
S4:E6- This prayer is our heart's cry for our children. If you need to be encouraged that others are covering you and your child(ren) our hope is that this prayer encourages you.
We are 3/4 of the way through another year and it feels like it has been grueling. If you need a reminder of the promises of God concerning strength and prayer for God's strength in your life, this prayer is for you.
S4:E4- This prayer for those in new seasons is for anyone who may be in a season of abundance and new opportunities to those who may be in seasons of grief and loss. We pray and ask God to help us adjust. God's word tells us to weep with those who weep and rejoice with those who are rejoicing and also that we should pray without ceasing.
S4:E3- This prayer is for those who are faced with tough choices and you feel like God hasn't shown you what to do and which way to go. Hopefully, this prayer will encourage you, strengthen you and give you the confidence you need to know God is working in all of your choices.
S4E2: This prayer is for those who need to be reminded to slow down and stop rushing through life. Patience is all about God so when the enemy can keep us busy, he simultaneously keeps us from enjoying God.
S4:E1- Siri or Alexa can give you directions to a place but once you get there you need a different kind of guide to lead you around the venue you are at. In this prayer, we ask God for guidance in the season we are currently in. We have a tendency to always ask God for direction to the next place, but this prayer is for help at this place. (Prayer starts at 4:46)
It's time to pray. In this preview, I share how we got to the place of devoting a whole season to praying and what you can expect from the upcoming episodes this season. If you need prayer in this season of your life, season 4 of the MindTime Podcast is for you!
S3:E9-The temptation to quick package what God has been marinating for centuries is great in our culture, but in this episode, we talk about the temptations we as believers and content creators face in holding to the fullness of a hearty Gospel in the midst of the happy meal world.
Part 4: You cannot be standing with the crowds at the wide gate and seeking after God at the narrow gate at the same time. In this episode, we discuss the 2 most concerning passages of scripture in Jesus' sermon on the mount. Matthew 7:13-14 and Matthew 7:21-23.Part 4 of the series: Is My Sin a Big Deal If I'm Already Saved?
Part 3 of: Is My Sin a Big Deal if I'm Already Saved? Whether or not your sin is a big deal depends on who you ask. In this episode, we talk about the 5 people or groups of people who may indeed think your sin is a big deal and why.
When you order groceries for curbside pickup, if you request something the store doesn't have, they will suggest a substitution but you have to sign off on it. Well, you have to do this same thing with Jesus. When you don't have what God requires, you can sign off on Jesus being your substitution. This is Part 2 of the series: Is My Sin a Big Deal if I'm Already Saved? In this episode, we talk about what all Jesus actually accomplished on the Cross and what it means to be saved.
What's with all the "better" post-pandemic language? Do we ask trauma survivors if their trauma made them better or do we simply acknowledge that trauma makes people different? In this anniversary episode, we reflect on our very first episode of The MindTime Podcast and revisit the need for post-pandemic re-introductions because some of us are just simply different people. And that's ok.
There is one sin that every single person commits every single day. This is Part 1 of the series: Is My Sin a Big Deal if I'm Already Saved? Before we can understand if our sin is a big deal or how it may be a big deal, we first need to establish what sin is.
S3:E4- Is God Listening and what to do when you feel like He's not. In this episode, we take a look at what it means to lean, live and look in those moments when you feel like God is not listening. I've coined the term "Strugglesode," as I talk about what I've learned through my struggle with God to just be faithful and consistent with getting these episodes out on time and how these same 3 steps can help you too.
S3:E3- I could have easily titled this episode "How I used God to make me more ungodly." When pride is your motivator and your hustle is exhausting, sometimes the progress and success you're looking for is on the other side of, "Whatever you want to do God." This is the only reason why this episode even exists. A testimony.
S3:E2- We ask questions like is God good? We ask is the Bible true? We ask did the cross really happen? But when have we ever asked is Jesus valuable? We know a lot of facts about Jesus. We can quote a lot of scriptures about Jesus. But until what we know translates into actual value, many of us will never really move from just being saved to being an actual disciple of Christ.
S3:E1- There are 3 reasons why your God may be in pieces that we discuss on this first episode of Season 3. The year 2020 was rough for many of us, and the truth is, your God may in fact be in pieces. If that seems like an impossibility, stay tuned and find out how.
Do you know whether the business you started or the project you've been working on or if your "side hustle" is actually a divine assignment? If not, this knowledge is important to know because otherwise, you may find yourself discouraged when success doesn't look like success as the world defines it. In this episode, I wrap up my 2nd season with thanks to those who have been with me on this journey this year, the lessons I learned (like this podcast doesn't really belong to me), and what to know about being on a divine assignment. Scripture reference: Zechariah 4: 4-10 (ESV)
Comedian Steve Harvey challenges people to write down 300 things they want from God. Should we? In this video, we tackle Steve Harvey's "300 List." Not only that, we discuss the scripture he references behind it and the 4 reasons why I believe everyone should give it a try. S2E9: In this episode, I talk with my big sister about some of the challenges and tips for dealing with struggle, transition, grief, and knowing what God wants in new seasons. She has traveled and relocated several times including living in a communist country for over a year. She now is planning a wedding in the midst of a pandemic and getting ready to relocate again. You can watch our full conversation online at https://youtu.be/gDJ8NitNjps. Overview: 1. Seeing God in the SUDDEN Struggle2. Trusting God in the Transition3. Being Thankful for the Tragedies 4. Knowing what God wants in the New Season
S2E8: In this episode, we give you the Cliffs Notes version of The Great Exchange Series: Six Ways to Know if God Really has Your Heart. We summarize the last 6 episodes and discuss some lessons learned now that the season is over like the fact that it's easy to mistake communication as commitment, Jesus requires all true disciples move from communication to cancellation and some Christians are committed but still have no confidence.
Strong and healthy relationships should give you confidence in yourself, your partner, and your future. In this last installment of The Great Exchange Series: 6 Ways to Know if God REALLY has your heart, we end the series talking about confidence. If you have solidified your relationship with God through conversation, cancellation, confession, commitment, and navigating compromise and control, you should now be able to confidently move forward with your eye on your forever life, forever love, and forever future.
The same spirit that causes people to overlook news story after news story, tweet after tweet and rally after rally to be able to say they want Donald Trump as their leader anyway, is the same spirit that is prevalent in each of lives where God gives us multiple warnings about the cost of our choices and we still say, “but we want it anyway.”
S3E5: Part #4 of The Great Exchange Series: 6 Ways to Know if God really has your heart deals with commitment. Going to church should teach you how to be a good partner to God. Reading your Bible should teach you about who God is as a partner, and praying is how you keep your communication open with God. While those are important things, they shouldn't be the only elements of your relationship. Being committed to God is a higher calling that can be scary at times and require cost and consistency. But committing to God on that level is so worth it.
S2E4: Part #3 of this Great Exchange Series: 6 Ways to Know if God really has your heart deals with confession because nothing builds trust in relationships like being able to trust someone with the things we confess. There is the confession of truth and then the confession of trust. Most of us have made confessions of truth and obtained salvation, but have you made concessions of trust? But first, we talk about the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Black Panther in honor of the life of Chadwick Boseman.
S2E3: Part #2 of this Great Exchange Series tackles the need for EX-Change. How can you be committed to God but have no exes? Every commitment requires an ex of some kind. Every committed yes requires a sacrificial no. Who and what became your exes when you got committed to God?
S2:E2-The Great Exchange Series: 6 Ways to Know if God really has your heart starts with Part 1: Conversation. God is out here shooting shots and sliding into DM's. But some of us just leave God on read and then claim to be in relationship with God. Every relationship starts with an encounter and a conversation. Have you moved passed the initial encounter and actually had an exchange with God?
S2:E1- How you perceive God determines how you respond to God. In this episode, we discuss the potential pitfalls of seeing God and responding to God as a Father using the actions and attitude of the younger brother in the story of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32). After presenting the potential pitfalls, we also lay a foundational argument for viewing God as a committed partner.
What good is it for God to roll back the waters if you could still get stuck in the mud? God takes care of all the details. In this episode I recap my journey to episode 7 and how God has used this little podcast to cross me over big fears, insecurities, and the need to ask permission to do what God has called me to do.
Would Jesus condone the Black Lives Matter Movement and what does real change look like? Answering a listener's question in the first segment of Questions for Quay.
They say that the 3 things you shouldn't really talk about are race, politics and religion and with race and politics front and center in headline news, is this time to be talking about Jesus? Following the trail of thought that started with whether or not Jesus is a threat to national unity, in this episode we talk about the times when I feel its not a good time to talk about Jesus and what you should do before talking about Jesus in times like these.
In this episode, we present the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the lens of social unrest and the life of George Floyd. As an African American, I am excited to see so many come together to fight for equality on our behalf. As a Christian, the thought that someone could risk their life on the front line without the security of knowing like I do that their soul is secure reminds me that it's our job to share the life-giving Gospel of Jesus Christ.
In Episode #3 (which I call my best worst episode) we tackle 2 questions: Is this the best you can do? What do you have in your hand? The answers for me are yes and grief. I'm podcasting through the grief of my grandmother because sometimes you just have to push through.
What does "opening up" church look like? A lot of conversation about whether churches should begin opening up their doors again or remain closed has been going on but in this episode, we talk about why that's not the right question.
What questions do you have before going back to church? In this episode, we posit some pertinent questions about preparing to go back to church as many stay-at-home orders are being lifted. Will the ushers be passing out masks? Do we need to start making reservations? What about testimonial time limits?
Why don't we do re-introductions anymore? We say all the time that people grow and change, but when was the last time you were formally reintroduced to someone or formally reintroduced yourself? While the government is coming up with plans to re-start the economy, in this episode we'll be talking about the need to re-introduce people back into communities.
Who are you gonna be when you get free? Free from mandated social distancing that is. We always say people change, but when was the last time you re-introduced yourself to someone?
Growing up my mother limited me to 7 questions a day. Rude! I guess she went with what Christians is the number of completion. But what she didn't know was God started early sharpening my gifts. So welcome! The thought-provoking questions here are endless.
