Hey Friend! I got so excited a couple weeks ago when I realized that today's episode would land EXACTLY one year from when I FIRST launched this podcast. I cannot believe it's already been a whole year!! As I raise a glass to the bittersweet symphony of the past year, "So Funny It Hurts" turns one! I'm Mikalah Gordon, and I'm taking you on an intimate journey through the stitches of laughter and the stitches of life that have shaped our collective experience. Reflecting on candid conversations with guests like the ever-controversial Perez Hilton, the charmingly humorous Pinky Patel, the versatile Jamie Kennedy, and the insightful Luenell, I peel away the layers of my own story. We've laughed through the chaos, embraced the gluten and dairy-free life, and together, tackled the challenging path toward sobriety with determination and a smile. This past year has been a relentless teacher, showing us the resilience nestled within our vulnerabilities. As I step into the familiar yet exciting role of co-hosting the morning show on 98.5 KLUC, I carry with me the lessons and laughs from "So Funny It Hurts." It's here we've cultivated a sanctuary for authenticity, a place to be seen, heard, and loved, through the highs and lows, the depression and anxiety. And as we embark on another year of real, unfiltered, and empowering dialogue, let's continue to celebrate self-acceptance and the unwavering strength of our community. Join me as I take a reflective journey down memory lane, recounting the origins of this podcast, born from a desire to connect authentically and serve a community of visionary women. From the humble beginnings of voice memos sent out to a small circle of friends and family, to the robust, twice-monthly musings that reach an ever-growing audience, this journey has been one of learning, growth, and unwavering commitment to my vision. I delve into five key lessons learned along the way, from embracing imperfection to tuning into the data, and the importance of meeting ourselves where we are.As we step into the next year of the show, I invite you to celebrate the milestones we've reached together and the space we've created for daring questions and honest answers. Whether you've been with me from the start or have recently joined our community, I hope you find inspiration in the realization that ambition does not have to be compromised when we listen, adapt, and serve with heart. In honor of our anniversary, I ask for the gift of your feedback. Your engagement fuels this journey, and I can't wait to hear from you.MENTIONED13 | Re-Mothering OurselvesGEMS DROPPED“Perfection is not required to do the next thing that you're trying to do. I just want to remind you, if you don't already know, or if you know, that you're placing this undue pressure on yourself, that perfection is not required.”“Sometimes it's not about you having said the perfect thing, crafted the perfect positioning, and language, and put all of this thought and science and art just melding together into this gorgeous piece of work. Sometimes it's just the way you naturally say things. Someone else out in the world needed to hear it in that way. Someone's looking for YOU.”“Sometimes we think we need to over prepare when it's like you are enough as you are, that your rawness is actually the best gift you can give people, for people to get a real taste of the essence of you.”“You have everything you need to start, you just need to be creative. Just allow yourself to have the freedom to have like, a quick and easeful creative exploration. If you give yourself permission to be where you are and to listen to what exactly it is that you want.”“Listen to the data to block out distraction. Most of the time, I think the distractions are like our insecurities, fears or doubts.”STAY IN TOUCHCome and follow me on Instagram @moniquershields and I would love your feedback so send an email to ambition@moniquershields.com.

Many people romanticize success. You see stories of dream lifestyles, sales figures, homes, cars, traveling the world, etc. It can be inspiring, but there is also the dark side of discouragement. And it is where the "It Doesn't Matter How" mindset becomes crucial - an approach that isn't about dismissing the achievements of others but about shifting your focus from the "how" of success (the specific numbers, strategies, or timelines) to the "what": consistent, focused action. That is because these successful people reach their goals through hard work, and believing you can do that is more important than thinking it is impossible to achieve those numbers. Imagine that happening after eleven years as Balazs W Kardos celebrates his double anniversary in Enagic and The Diamond Life Mentor podcast! From starting with 80 sales in the first year, he increased it to 46,000 in five years, joined the ranks, bought his dream home, and crossed the exponential growth curve because of the sequence of leadership, sales team, and overall collective effort that he established. In February 2024, he made 270,785 high-ticket product sales in the Global Prosperity Movement, 1,446 people in his community ranked 6A, 78k unique listeners, and 128k podcast downloads. His secret was to focus on the data and not how long it took him. That is why his vision finally happened and continued to grow because everybody was duplicating - he did not celebrate success alone because he helped more people create expansion. And that is what makes the Diamond Life happen. "There is no ceiling on your potential. The growth never stops. So even though we always think like when we're here, we're done, no. You're there, but you get to go to the next part of the journey." - Balazs W KardosTune into this episode to focus on taking action, learning from mistakes, and not letting the gap between you and those success stories hold you back. Hey Guys - Chris Blair here and I am SO excited for this episode because today marks one year of Stories Behind the Songs! We have loved getting to sit down with so many incredible songwriters, artists, and industry icons. We can't wait to see what this next year holds... Today, to help celebrate our 1 year anniversary, we've got Hannah Ellis with us! Hannah started songwriting after she listened to Taylor Swift, looked up the song credits, and learned that she writes her own music. Inspired to pick up the pen herself, Hannah quickly found out that she had that passion for songwriting and eventually made the move to Nashville from Campbellsville, Kentucky. Hannah's first big cut was “Would You Love Me” on Russell Dickerson's 2017 record, Yours. Since this cut, Hannah has toured with Carly Pearce, Gavin DeGraw, and Brett Young, performed at the Opry 8 times, and achieved her first top 50 single in 2023 with “Wine Country.” That Girl, Hannah's 2024 release through Curb Records, is her first full-length album, and it has already racked up millions of Spotify streams. She talks about how playing on The Listening Room stage (which she first visited back in her college days) helped her choose the songs for that very album. Her hope for this record is that it introduces listeners to the authentic Hannah Ellis and that they walk away feeling like old friends. It has been such a joy to witness the growth of Hannah's career here on the TLR stage, and it is even more fitting that she is the guest on our one year anniversary release! If you enjoyed this episode, give us a follow and check out Hannah's socials to see what she's got coming up and stream "That Girl" anywhere you find your music.
