President/Founder, Leah V. Salmorin of PaddleForTheCure.nyc.org Leah hails from the Philippines and she comes from a medical family, background. She has a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and was awarded “outstanding employee” and “top financial consultant, at the Philippine National Bank' and ‘Marketing by Prulife-UK,' respectively. She is a member of various clubs: Toastmaster Club, Lions Club, and Kiwanis Club. Some of my other involvements include Cancer Care, Gilda's, Stupid Cancer, Young Survival Coalition, Livestrong, Casting for Recovery, Libby Ross Foundation, SASS Foundation, Stowe Weekend of Hope, and Pink Glove Dance. Leah V. Salmorin's journey as a breast cancer survivor is a primary motivator in her life. As part of her role as President/Founder, she frequently reaches out to other charitable organizations, government, and support groups to find ways of pooling resources and collaborating on projects. She is also a lector at St. Patrick's Cathedral and St. Joan of Arc Church. She is also a patient navigator for The American Cancer Society and volunteers at Elmhurst Hospital in New York, New York. ‘Pfcnyc' - Paddle for the Cure is a special support organization for breast cancer survivors /supporters. They offer a unique survivorship program that uses recreational dragon boat paddling to manage the side effects of treatment for breast cancer survivors and promotes a positive and healthy lifestyle. It is organized by survivors that paddle their way to recovery with each other and a tremendous group of supporters and paddling enthusiasts alongside. Their on-water season is May through October. Off-season indoor practice is available from November through April. They are planning to practice weekly in the World's Fair Marina during the warm weather and participate in the dragon boat races along the East Coast. Their team events are open to all and promote a healthy lifestyle, and a way of getting life and movement back through exercise, as well as emotional support and team spirit.
