GLORIA MADDEN A Life Remembered by Gloria MaddenDuring my youth, I had the loving guidance of my whole family, especially my mother. My children married and were blessed with their children and my great-grandchildren. One of my hobbies was crocheting Afghans for my family. After my career years, my loving husband and I retired to Florida, where I became involved with the Senior Citizen's Club of Dania, Florida, and the Lioness Club of Florida, earning the Golden Chain Award. Since then I have enjoyed many hours writing children's stories as a hobby. Two of the books published are titled Grandmother's Bedtime Stories, in addition to this family-oriented novel.Gloria M. Madden, author of A Life Remembered, has always been inspired by the beauty and simplicity of everyday moments. Shortly after retiring, she found joy in quiet mornings with a warm cup of tea, watching Robin's lively antics at the birdbath. Day by day, she took notes on the bird's habits, sparking an idea to turn these observations into a story for children. This small, delightful project was the beginning of her journey as an author, proving that inspiration often comes from the most unexpected places.Over the years, Gloria's passion for writing has blossomed into nine published books that grace the shelves of her library. Her creative energy doesn't stop there. Gloria has been deeply involved in her community, from earning the prestigious Golden Chain Award with the Lions Club of Dania, Florida, to painting and showcasing her artwork with the Senior Citizen Club. These experiences have enriched her stories, offering readers a glimpse into a life brimming with curiosity and engagement. Whether it's crafting tales or leading group activities, Gloria's knack for storytelling extends beyond the written page. Now settled in Spring Hill, Florida, Gloria continues to lead an active and creative life. She cherishes her time crocheting afghans for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, a testament to her love for family and tradition. Between games of Pinochle, Dominos, and Canasta at her local senior club, Gloria reflects on her rich tapestry of experiences. A Life Remembered is her latest work, a heartfelt story that encapsulates her journey and the memories she holds dear. With every book she writes, Gloria invites readers to pause and find inspiration in their own lives, just as she has in hers.AMAZONhttps://authorgloriamadden.com/https://wellshamilton.com/http://www.bluefunkbroadcasting.com/root/twia/5825gmwh.mp3

The county commissioners requested reconsideration of a Homestead Option Sales Tax (HOST) to reduce property taxes, projecting significant savings for homeowners. They also proposed increasing the hotel/motel tax to fund tourism and infrastructure projects. Additionally, $9.1 million in state funding was requested for the Technology Ridge Parkway project. District Attorney Susan Treadaway advocated for stricter bond restrictions for illegal immigrants and longer probation for sexual offenders. STORY 7: What's Next for the Old Tippens School Site in Canton? Canton leaders are considering renovations to the former Tippens Elementary School gymnasium, with plans to award an $18,850 contract to Keck and Wood for designing two site plans. The gym, built in the 1930s, remains after the main building's demolition. One plan focuses on parks and recreation, while the other includes affordable housing. The design phase will take 4-6 weeks, with concepts expected by February. Mayor Bill Grant supports incorporating housing to meet city needs. The site, valued at $850,000, was allocated funds for development, but a grant for transitional housing was declined by MUST Ministries due to insufficient funding. We’ll have closing comments after this. COMMERCIAL: Ingles Markets (Laura Lynn Products) 3 SIGN OFF – Thanks again for hanging out with us on today’s Cherokee Tribune Ledger Podcast. On today's show: 9am-10am Lions Club Auction We'll hear from a carer who benefitted from respite thanks to the Lions Club
In this video tutorial, I share how I use a notebook to keep myself grounded when things feel chaotic and unpredictable. It's Election Day - this feels needed!I address the following aspects of my notebook system:* Keeping a weekly intentions list to come back to when considering next actions* Dating the daily log and setting up your productivity dashboard* Starting your daily log with critical tasks to accomplish that day* Documenting notes, events, and tasks as the day progresses* Brainstorming ideas with text and sketches* Reviewing the day, noting wins, insights, and gratitudesTake care,MattTranscriptHi, this is Matt. I'm sharing how I ground myself with a notebook, both as a coach and as an individual. It's a space for personal and professional reflections, which is especially helpful during unpredictable times, like today—Election Day, 2024. I thought it'd be appropriate to share this process. This approach is adapted from the *Bullet Journal Method* by Ryder Carroll, with a few tweaks for my needs. Let's start with my weekly intentions. I date the week, then list all I want to accomplish. There's usually more than I can get done, but if something doesn't get completed, I simply move it to the next week. This becomes my weekly log.My daily log captures each day's priorities. Here's yesterday's log. First, I date it—November 4th, a Monday. Then I create a dashboard. This idea comes from the Bullet Journal community; I highlight boxes and draw icons representing productive actions. Not productivity in a “getting things done” sense, but actions aligned with the person I want to become. For example, my dashboard includes icons for writing, meditating, pet care, budgeting, and exercise. Exercise doesn't have to mean lifting weights; yesterday, I did Tai Chi and went for a walk. There's also an icon for a fun activity and another for “unhooking” from unproductive thoughts—using self-talk or breathing techniques to steer clear of unhealthy thinking. It's a valuable habit, especially with the uncertainty around the election. Each day, I identify two or three critical tasks, such as drafting a newsletter or inviting a friend for an event. Throughout the day, I add tasks as they come up—like reserving rooms for next week or picking up cat food. I use different symbols: a dot for tasks and a circle for events. Yesterday, we had a staff meeting to discuss our strategic plan. I like using paper for brainstorming; it helps me play with ideas creatively. For example, I sketched a diagram that a colleague suggested I share on our Padlet. At the end of the day, I log any other thoughts or tasks. For instance, I agreed to be secretary for the Lions Club. I also like to reflect on something successful, an insight, and what I'm grateful for. Last night, I noted “saying yes to what I can,” sharing my drafty thinking, and appreciating the chance to contribute.Today, I'll start with my productivity dashboard again. I use a Leuchtturm B5 notebook, but any notebook works fine, especially when you're starting. You don't need anything fancy. You can also replace icons with initials if you prefer.I've already voted, so I don't need to worry about that. Throughout the day, when I feel stressed or tempted to check election news, I can return to my notebook. For instance, I need to finalize the writing workshop PD and plan for my kids' birthdays. Writing these tasks down increases my commitment to them.Today is open-ended but grounded by this structure. I can even note it's Election Day as an event. This notebook helps me stay focused on the day-to-day and acts as a place for journaling. My wife will vote before work, and I remind myself that we probably won't know results right away.Putting my thoughts and worries on paper keeps me grounded. If I feel restless, I can take the dog for a walk to release energy, then return to my list. I aim to calm myself by being intentional and purposeful with my time.Best wishes, and stay calm in these unpredictable times. Take care. This is a public episode.
