Queen C and Kahtja of Goddessa Entertainment join us for an interview about heir burlesque project that was performed on Saturday night at Astral Harvest 2019. Goddessa is a collective of singers, dancers, and healers harmonized by the calling of our hearts in the divine alignment of powerhouse female performers intent on breaking the mould. With over a collective 30 years’ experience on a variety of professional stages ranging from hip hop competitions, caribbean cruise lines, auditoriums, theatres & stages all over the world from Paris to australia, Goddessa is truly a force to be reckoned with! The group draws on its diversity of talents and brings live performance to a whole new level by incorporating elements of singing, dance, and storytelling. Our intent is to bring back the grace of seduction and sacredness of divine feminine sensuality though all forms of performance art. We create the space to behold all the faces of the Goddess - both light and dark - so that our bodies may no longer be viewed as a form of containment, rather as a vessel for authentic expression/empowerment. We offer performances of live music with original songs, covers, dynamic dance pieces and spoken word. Goddessa will tantalize the senses and stoke the fiery essence that unites us all! Rumpus sat down with Chandon Autumn after his set at Astral Harvest to talk about how he met Small Town DJ's while surfing, his inspirations and gives advice on how to get into performing at summertime music festivals. Rumpus, by definition, does in fact bring the noise – and the bodies – to dance floors and music festivals around the globe. Drumming since the age of 12 and growing up playing in punk rock bands, Rumpus has since evolved into a full-time touring DJ/Drummer and producer of high vibe, funky house music. Rumpus’ live drumming blended with a finely tuned DJ palette, serves up an irresistible feast for attuned music lovers and funky festival freaks alike. His visually captivating high-energy live show fuses his signature house sound with elements of other genres such as hip hop and experimental future bass. With releases on Westwood Recordings & Australia’s ‘Sweat it Out’ Club Sweat label, the Rumpus sound has been described as “what you get if funk house and bass house had a kid”. 2019 is on course to be another major year with lots of new music, a packed tour schedule, and a few other surprises up his sleeve. The Space Cowboys welcome producer and label boss at Homebreakin Records, Neighbour (a.k.a. Matt Dauncey) to the program this week. A very special thanks to our friends Melyss and Big Fat Frog of Homebreakin' for making Mr. Dauncey's RIPEcast appearance possible. And now a few words from Neighbour on this week's RIPEcast.... "Hello Space Cowboy-ites, Bay Area freaks, boogie lovers, and worldwide friends of West Coast-style dance pressure! This is a 120-min mix of electric-boogie-80s-boompty-house-german-afro-deep business that's been working for me at gigs through the winter, all through Brazil (twice this year!) and at festivals throughout Canada and the States. It's not what people might expect upon listening to my output on Homebreakin, Funkweapons and Jalapeno, but it's a wide musical world and this is just what came out of me at this point in time. Hope to catch you all at a gig sooner or later, either yours or mine!" - Neighbour Check out Neighbour's hot summer EP, "Toute Freak", on Homebreakin Records with remixes from DCUP and Bumper: http://bit.ly/toute-freak Also, be on the lookout for Neighbour's forthcoming release with MC Thinktank, "The Crusader", on Deekline's Rat Records. A little more background on Neighbour... One part sexy robot and one part aerobics instructor, 25-year old Matt Dauncey has managed to find the middle ground between music and athletics. By harnessing the power of wrestling suits, tennis sweatbands, vintage synthesizers, and electric guitar, Neighbour has tapped into an ancient power-source that has given him the capacity to conjure up frenzied dancefloors wherever he is needed. Through a mysterious process that involves not one, but TWO gigantic crystals, the Homebreakin Records co-owner has managed to combine the raw ecstacy of the early days of disco with razor-sharp futuristic production. His hybrid DJ-live performance tore across the continent this year, culminating in an incredible series of festival dates across western Canada, including headlining slots at Shambhala 2009, Soundwave, Bass Coast Project, Astral Harvest, and Summer Break. In addition to playing almost 100% original production and remixes, Neighbour plays live synthesizer and electric guitar alongside his legendary DJ sets, which range from no-nonsense electric funk bangers to gorgeous technicolor remixes of classic garage, disco, and house music. Not one to be pigeonholed, Neighbour has spent the better part of the last two years collaborating with everyone in sight. Upcoming dancehall tracks with Calgary's Ouda Ouda, boogie-raps with fellow performer MC ThinkTank, and an unbelieveable slate of remixes and original releases guarantee that as soon as you think you know that “Neighbour Sound”, it has grown into something completely different. Some people say that dance music isn't as fun as it used to be; then again, some people haven't seen a grown man in a unitard shoot lazers out of his guitar far away into the night sky.
