In this powerful Garage edition of The Court of Public Opinion, Jeremy Cordeaux unloads on the political chaos surrounding Australia’s net-zero debate, calling the policy “nonsense” and “unachievable”. He reflects on the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall and warns of socialism’s global resurgence — from New York electing a socialist mayor to Australia's own Labor leadership. Jeremy argues that history is repeating itself as governments expand, costs rise, and ideological movements overshadow common sense. He also critiques COP climate conferences, the first-home 5% deposit scheme pushing up house prices, and the decline of rational thinking, illustrated through the famous “Common Sense obituary”. Plus, Jeremy explores Soviet-era failures, property market distortion, global trivia, and historical events of November 13. A sharp, provocative commentary spanning politics, culture, and history. What do you do when your health changes and the business you've built can't keep up?In this episode of Business with Chronic Illness, I sit down with Jemi Crookes, founder of The Think Lab, to talk about what happens when a diagnosis forces you to redefine leadership, business, and success itself. After a misdiagnosis of Type 2 diabetes, Jemi discovered she was actually living with Type 1.5 (LADA)—a rare form of autoimmune diabetes that upended everything she knew about her body, her energy, and the way she worked. She left her corporate executive role and rebuilt her business from the ground up, using AI, authentic leadership positioning, and personal branding to create more freedom and less burnout. In This Episode You'll Learn:✅ How Jemi turned a life-changing diagnosis into a business that supports her health✅ The difference between corporate leadership and capacity-honoring leadership✅ Why "your job title is rented, but your leadership is forever"✅ How to use AI as a tool (not a replacement) for your positioning and time✅ What it really takes to build a brand rooted in your values and lived experience✅ The mindset shifts that allow you to keep growing—even when your energy fluctuates✅ Why you can't position yourself (even if you're a strategist) and who can help✅ How advocating for your health teaches you to advocate in businessYou'll hear how Jemi learned to trust her intuition when doctors got it wrong, design business models that flex with her energy, and help other women leaders build brands that can thrive, no matter what life brings next.A gift from Jemi, our guest - Custom GPT tool: SO FUN!!!! https://chatgpt.com/g/g-67d37e2edbf48191b062e108c6bb1994-tf-leadership-intro-ida

Dr. Sunil Gupta expressed concern over the growing incidence of diabetes in young Indians, noting that the unique “Indian phenotype” makes the population more prone to central obesity, insulin resistance, and early diabetes compared to Western countries. He explained that while diabetes was earlier common in people in their 50s–60s, it is now increasingly being seen in the 30s and 40s, even among lean or physically active individuals. Contributing factors include high-carb, low-protein diets, sedentary lifestyles, stress, genetic risk, and intrauterine influences on diabetes risk (“sitting is the new smoking” he added). The session further emphasized the need for annual check-ups after age 30–35, awareness of warning signs such as excessive thirst, frequent urination, fatigue, and vision changes, he stressed 150–250 minutes of exercise per week. He also explained different types of diabetes in youth—Type 1, Type 2, and LADA—stressing that early diagnosis and management are crucial. Concluding the talk, Dr. Gupta warned that diabetes is a “silent sweet killer” but can be prevented through timely tests, lifestyle changes, and medical supervision. Boxy Moskvitch and Lada cars, pastel-green concrete tiles, derelict playgrounds, intermittent hot water: these were the markers of Izidora Angel's childhood in 1980s Sofia. “Banana Yellow Trabants,” her essay for our Autumn 2025 issue, takes its name from the Duroplast car that her grandfather, and then her father, Solomon, drove in the 1980s. But bananas show up elsewhere, too: in the myths that young girls would tell each other about the diets of Bulgaria's famed rhythmic gymnastics team and once, miraculously, on her family's holiday table. The Angel family's antics suffuse the essay with warmth and humor, but churning beneath the surface is Solomon's ambition. “He would be the boss, the creative vision and force behind all his future endeavors,” Angel writes, “opening the hottest nightclub in the capital, running five restaurants, renovating city landmarks, building the first manufacturing plant in the country after communism, developing plans to build a whole city.” That city was never built, and Angel lives in Chicago today, sent here alone on a plane more than 20 years ago. ‘I'm ready to put more life back into my life.'Get ready for a beautiful bolt of warmth, wit and wisdom from today's guest, as we're digging into the twists and shifts of an adult diagnosis with Isla Munro.Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 43 in 2021, her insight into the realities of the emotional side of type 1 diabetes was already more extensive than most of us living with the thing.Exactly two years earlier, one of the participants of Isla's renowned art challenge 100 Days Project Scotland had taken up the challenge to work through her own adult diagnosis, creating a striking set of posters to raise awareness of the unseen sides of the type 1 diabetes. That participant is none other than former Type 1 on 1 guest, graphic designer, illustrator and incredibly talented human Alex Durussel-Baker, creator of Diabetes By Design.Art lecturer Isla talks through the insight she gained from Alex's project both pre and post diagnosis, and how she got to grips with what she calls ‘a shift into a different gear' when type 1 diabetes landed. From the stark contrast in energy levels to finding power in finding her voice, and the life-changing magic of being able to eat an apple for the first time in years - Isla has found her own rhythm in making the space that diabetes demands. We also talk about the next shift - into perimenopause, and how diabetes has also given her a different perspective on what her body can do. Discover the 100 Days Project Scotland.Read Isla's blog about her diagnosis - 100 Days-ish of Diabetes.Follow Isla on Instagram.DISCLAIMER Nothing you hear on Type 1 on 1 should be taken as medical advice. Please consult your healthcare team before making any changes to your diabetes or health management.JOIN THE TYPE 1 ON 1 COMMUNITY:Come and say hi @studiotype1on1 on Instagram.Visit the Type 1 on 1 website.Subscribe to the Type 1 on 1 newsletter.SPONSOR MESSAGE This episode of Type 1 on 1 is sponsored by Dexcom. Episode #213 In this Fasting Q&A episode, hosted by Coach Lisa Chance, Dr. Jason Fung answers questions from the TFM Community: Can you compare T1D, T2D, LADA, and MODY? [01:52] What are the best fasting protocols and diet for autoimmune conditions? [11:40] Is it possible to be successful if you eat mostly vegan/vegetarian, as I worry about the higher carbs with this type of eating? [13:44] Does each hour you fast have added benefits? [20:44] A recent study done by University of Colorado Boulder confirms that metabolically healthy women tend to experience menopause later, with the study linking later menopause (age 55+) to better vascular health and reduced heart disease risk. Could you discuss how this research connects metabolic health factors like mitochondrial function and insulin sensitivity to delayed menopause onset and improved cardiovascular outcomes?
