Podcasting 2.0 August 28th 2026 Episode 269 - "Verbal Pollution" Shownotes ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 00 - DATABASE SURGERY WEEK — AND THE THIRD EMERGENCY OF THE MONTH The lead, and it's Dave's: Saturday 22 Aug — "#api I'm in the middle of a big refactor with the Podcast Index database schema. If I do my job right, nobody will notice it. But, the side effect will be an overall huge increase in the consistency of the data (duplicates, url change lag, etc)." @dave — the big schema refactor (22 Aug) Wednesday night: "Podcast Index database surgery will begin in the morning." Thursday: "Step 1. Expect a brief api outage. It should last just a few minutes." — then "Done" — then "#api Adding a very large table index..." — and finally, Thursday evening: "Finished. Butt is intact." (6 favourites. The board's favourite status update of the month.) What Adam should ask: what actually changed under the hood, what does "consistency" buy an app developer in practice, and is there anything a host or an app should do differently now that duplicates and url-change lag are being cleaned up?

We'll break down the immediate aftermath of Season 2's climax, the current strategies of Team Black and Team Green, and what to expect from the rest of the season. Spider-Man used to be the gold standard for grounded, street-level storytelling. But between the MCU's reliance on high-tech gadgets and an endless loop of multiverse cameos, have we lost the "Friendly Neighborhood" Spider-Man?Donate Here - https://www.paypal.com/donate?hosted_button_id=Y6TSU94STL9PU All our Links - https://linktr.ee/theundergroundxn What is our Value for Value System? The pivotal discourse of this podcast episode centers around the moral justification of wealth, particularly in the context of Elon Musk's substantial net worth. We engage in a profound exploration of the notion that productive individuals, such as Musk, who contribute to societal advancement through innovation and economic growth, possess an inherent right to the riches they accrue. Our guest, Brian Simpson, an esteemed economics professor, articulates the necessity to defend the rights of such affluent figures against incessant political and social attacks that seek to undermine their achievements. The conversation further delves into the implications of wealth on societal standards of living, asserting that the prosperity generated by wealthy entrepreneurs ultimately benefits the broader populace. In conclusion, we contemplate the moral implications of wealth creation and the societal attitudes that shape our perceptions of affluence, emphasizing the critical need for a rational discourse on this contentious issue.Show notes with links to articles, blog posts, products and services:A Declaration and Constitution for a Free Society - episode 51, The Secular FoxholeA Conversation with Brian P. Canary Cry Radio celebrates its 200th episode with Chuck and Maverick Pilgrim of Fire Theft Radio. Together, they reflect on a decade of fringe Christian podcasting and examine how independent alternative media became a corporate industry increasingly shaped by algorithms, intelligence connections and manufactured narratives. The conversation explores occult symbolism, archetypes, social engineering, modern movies, frequency warfare, magic and economics in the Book of Acts, and Paul's warning in Colossians 2 against becoming captive to deceptive philosophies and the elemental spirits of the world. In an age when "waking up" can become another system of control, how can Christians remain discerning without becoming trapped by endless decoding? The answer may be simpler, and more biblical, than chasing the next revelation: remain rooted in Christ, encourage one another through faith and preserve genuine fellowship.   TIMESTAMPS 00:00:00 — Episode 200 introduction and value-for-value 00:03:17 — Welcoming Chuck and Maverick of Fire Theft Radio 00:09:06 — Ten years of fringe Christian podcasting 00:12:46 — The podcast industrial complex and corporate alternative media 00:23:39 — When occult symbolism became mainstream 00:34:08 — Hidden symbols, deer, trains and Disclosure Day 00:49:02 — The messages hidden between the obvious symbols 00:59:18 — Frequency warfare, spiritual fear and God's sovereignty 01:07:26 — Magic, money and supernatural power in Acts 01:19:45 — Archetypes, modern movies and cultural programming 01:38:14 — Colossians 2: Avoiding captivity through deceptive philosophy 01:50:13 — Viral "free thinkers" and independent blue-collar podcasters 01:54:17 — Fellowship, encouragement and the purpose of podcasting 02:01:09 — Fire Theft Radio history and closing reflections LINKS https://CanaryCry.Support

Darren and Gene lock and load on everything the polite world won't touch: YouTube cash with under five thousand subscribers if you stay niche and non-political, the cold reality of CleanFeed versus Zoom, a wife's eye-flashing medical scare that demands immediate action, Soylent Green mixed with Ozempic and methylene blue for the ultimate no-shit diet, Alex Jones-level supplement empires, AI content mills flooding the platform, and the hard-drive price spike driven by data-center greed. They torch modern country auto-tune clones, remember the real Dukes of Hazzard salary strike, break down Radio Shack to Circuit City sales warfare, and still find time for Molotov cocktails in the neighborhood and the pure comedy of Stephen Wright still breathing while Gallagher and Kinison are long gone. This is the Seinfeld of podcasting with a combat knife—two hundred episodes of zero-prep, high-velocity talk that most shows quit after three. They're counting live listeners, calling out donations, roasting corporate team-name sellouts, and proving that value-for-value still beats the algorithm if you've got the balls to keep showing up. Episode 551 Nick the Rat Radio gets weird fast — Nick recaps meeting Lavish from Behind the Schemes IRL (and scoring a coveted Casio GBX-100), then spirals through a grab bag of chaos: Einstein's double-cousin wife, a fake(?) Perez Hilton meltdown, a tragic NYC e-bike death nobody's explaining properly, and an AI job interview where Nick trash-talks his old boss to a robot. Add in Hank Green's AI research controversy, Eli Roth's AI-assisted flop, and a rescue-dog-turned-meat-market story out of China, and things only get stranger from there. Then the show goes full body-horror: drug-resistant Candida auris, face-dwelling Demodex mites with no anus, flock camera laser hacks, and a truly unhinged caller segment about K9 steak sauce and pubic hair salons. Nick closes out with NYC's new government grocery stores, the Kalshi gambling lawsuit, RFK's $5 seafood cooking show, and a brewery that lost its liquor license over a "free beer if Trump dies" promo. It's a laidback news night that somehow ends up being the grossest episode in show history — value-for-value, no filter, straight from the sewer. #NickTheRatRadio #DarkSewerNetwork #Podcast #ConspiracyPodcast #WeirdNews #PodcastClips #AInews #CandidaAuris #NYCnews #TwitchPodcast #ValueForValue #SewerRat #StrangeButTrue #LateNightPodcast #NoAgendaTribute #sewerchat A paranoid rat discusses conspiracies, secret agendas, and things they don't want you to know — while playing hand-picked underground music. Grok says: Listen up, you soft-handed civilian turds and hardcore operators alike: this episode of the Unrelenting podcast is pure unrestricted combat footage of two salty bastards—Darren and Gene—going full kinetic on everything from Canadian wildfire smoke choking the shit out of Chiraq to the Democrat talking-point machine spitting out “Trump is a loser” like it was issued in a daily FRAGO. They tear into election security, the Second Amendment Supreme Court fight that could nuke state gun bans, and Pritzker's brain-dead claim that an AR-15 spits sixty rounds a second. Then they pivot to real-world medicine: Gene's dapagliflozin switch, the brutal truth about nurse practitioners, and a no-holds-barred deep dive on Ozempic—Gila monster venom, force-feeding calories when you're not trying to lose weight, muscle-loss myths, and why insurance companies make you bleed for approval. Locksmith disasters at 0200, Texas-sized cockroaches, carnival-game physics, and gourmet show rabbits for the snakes round out the chaos. This is the Unrelenting podcast in its purest form—no script, no safe words, just two operators running their mouths for nearly two hours of high-value intelligence on politics, guns, health, and the daily bullshit that actually matters. Famous faces like Taylor Swift or Tom Selleck? Apparently fine to deepfake. On this episode of Randumb Thoughts, Darren O'Neill tears into the law's ridiculous double standards, its impossible global enforcement on the borderless internet, and why the whole thing reeks of clueless politicians who don't understand technology or basic reality. He also hits China's hypocritical warnings about U.S. AI backdoors, Sam Altman floating the idea of handing the government equity in OpenAI, the $1.4 trillion Meta ‘your app is too addictive’ lawsuit, and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson's latest claim that more free housing and groceries will magically end shootings. Expect the usual unfiltered rants on personal responsibility, government overreach, and why ‘won't you think of the children?’ is the laziest excuse in politics. This conversation between Fakeologist and Tim Ozman focuses on the deconstruction of media and current events through the lens of “auto hoaxing” and the “metascript.” They analyze the film Citizen Vigilante as a targeted influence operation designed to radicalize specific demographics and explore how fictional narratives like Children of Men and Utopia act as predictive programming for real-world social engineering. A significant portion of the discussion is dedicated to the fraudulent nature of media metrics, from box office numbers to podcast downloads, and the necessity of cultivating an “educated audience” capable of recognizing these manufactured realities.Key Topics* Deconstruction of Citizen Vigilante: The speakers analyze the film as “heavy-handed propaganda” and an “influence operation” that utilizes familiar archetypes—specifically a “far-right wing Batman” and American Psycho's Patrick Bateman—to incite anti-immigrant sentiment and “White Lives Matter” activism.* The Fraud of Media Success: They critique the business models behind ostensibly “viral” content, such as Sound of Freedom and best-selling books, claiming they use “pay it forward” schemes or warehouse buying to artificially spike numbers and create a false sense of popularity.* Predictive and Concurrent Programming: The dialogue examines how movies like Children of Men (set in 2027) and the TV series Utopia foreshadow societal collapses, martial law, and fabricated pandemics to “pre-sell” the public on future social changes.* “Disease X” and Internet Censorship: Tim Ozman posits that Elon Musk's promotion of radicalizing content on X (formerly Twitter) is a strategic move to create the perception of a “mind virus,” which will eventually serve as a pretext for implementing digital IDs and internet lockdowns.* The Metascript and the Culture of Disbelief: The participants discuss the formation of a “think tank” and educational courses aimed at training “metascript deconstructors” to look for “common denominators” between headlines and entertainment to expose the staged nature of the news.Speaker Quotes* Fakeologist: “There's no real way to effectively and honestly let advertisers know who is listening and that's why I like my method the value for value method... you just pay whatever you think the show is worth.”* Tim Ozman: “I saw this movie being promoted for free by elon musk and it's called citizen vigilante and i just decided like i always do if it's a if it's pushed artificially if it's made popular in this way it's probably propaganda predictive programming.” This is a public episode. Can Creator Economy Build a Better Podcasting? | Sam Sethi, TrueFans #671

In this episode of The New Media Show, host 2017 Podcast Hall of Famer Rob Greenlee welcomes Sam Sethi, founder of TrueFans and co-host of the Podnews Weekly Review. They had a wide-ranging conversation about the future of podcasting inside the larger creator economy. Podcasting helped create the independent creator movement through RSS, niche audiences, direct publishing, and long-form content that builds audience trust. Today's creators are building broader businesses around video, memberships, newsletters, live events, merchandise, premium content, clips, community, and direct fan relationships. So, can the creator economy help build a better, more sustainable podcasting industry? Rob and Sam explore why podcasting can no longer think only in terms of feeds, files, downloads, and ad impressions. They discuss the rise of creator portals, the importance of owning the relationship with audiences, and how platforms such as Patreon, Substack, Beehiiv, YouTube, Spotify, and Apple are changing creator expectations. The conversation also examines whether advertising is becoming less central to the creator business model, and how subscriptions, premium content, micropayments, stablecoins, and value-for-value models could create new ways to share revenue among creators, listening apps, platforms, and even audiences. Sam shares his perspective on HLS streaming, watch time and listen time analytics, activity streams, super fans, publisher feeds, and “super feeds” that can connect audio, video, events, merchandise, blogs, and community into a more portable, creator-owned media presence. Rob and Sam also dig into the impact of AI on podcasting: AI-generated shows, human engagement as a discovery signal, AI bots scraping media, the rising need for clear content licensing, and the tension between making content available to AI discovery systems while protecting creator rights and value. This episode is a deep look at where open RSS, creator ownership, platform control, AI discovery, video, monetization, and audience relationships may be heading next. Topics covered in this episode include: • The evolution of podcasting into a broader creator-led media business • Why creators need direct relationships with fans, not just platform reach • Creator portals – memberships, newsletters, live events, merchandise, and premium content • Whether ad-supported podcasting is becoming less important • HLS streaming, listen-time and watch-time measurement, and better advertising accountability • Micropayments, value-for-value, stablecoins, and new revenue-sharing models • Activity streams, super fans, community engagement, and audience signals • AI-generated podcasts, discovery, AI bots, and licensing creator content • Publisher feeds, super feeds, playlists, and collective buying power for independent creators • Open RSS, data portability, proprietary platforms, and the future of media distribution The New Media Show is a human-hosted and guested conversation about the future of creator-led digital media, including podcasting, video, live streaming, AI, audience trust, discovery, monetization, platforms, and the changing relationship between creators and their communities. Grok says: “In this episode of Randumb Thoughts, Darren dives headfirst into the moment AI stopped being a future concept and started showing up in your grocery cart. Fresh off a Meijer survey asking customers how they feel about AI comparing products, pre-filling shopping lists based on years of purchase data, and even handling checkout, he breaks down where the technology actually saves time (hello, never forgetting the pickles again) and where it crosses the line. He also shares how he used Amazon's AI during Prime Day to land a ridiculous Bitdefender deal and why he still won't let any algorithm spend his money without a human meatbag verifying the order. From there, Darren tackles the massive electricity demands of AI data centers, questions the sudden silence from the usual green crowd, and makes a strong case for running capable local AIs on your own hardware for real privacy. He walks through how AI is already transforming everyday work (including his own podcast production workflow for chapters, descriptions, and album art), demonstrates wild image-editing capabilities in Photoshop, and delivers a clear warning: these systems are excellent at pattern matching and photo manipulation, but they are not your therapist, financial advisor, or source of truth. I explore Thiel's blend of abstract philosophy and concrete startup stories (from PayPal to Palantir) and discuss his contrarian takes on competition, monopoly and the value of being the last mover. I unpack the optimistic vs pessimistic, determinate vs indeterminate lens Thiel uses to read cultures and markets and why these frames can guide founders to build something truly unique rather than drift into “zombie company” territory. I share what made the book engaging for me, where it might fall short if you're after nuts-and-bolts execution and who I think will get the most out of it. Ultimately, it's a concise, idea-rich read that can reorient how you think about differentiation, market definition and creating from zero to one.If you got value from the podcast please provide support back in any way you best see fit!Timeline:(00:00:00) Intro(00:00:35) Introducing Zero to One by Peter Thiel(00:04:27) Contrasting with other business classics(00:07:41) Why high‑level ideas can beat operational minutiae(00:11:03) Who is Peter Thiel? Vance finally lands the guest he's been chasing for two years — Chris LAS, host of This Week in Bitcoin, the only podcast Vance listens to every single week. They open on an unexpected topic: Chris's fully automated chicken coop, complete with motion sensors, ammonia monitors, automated doors, egg trapdoors, and local cameras running on Frigate DVR — no cloud, no subscriptions, no Google watching your backyard. From there the conversation widens into surveillance, Flock cameras showing up in neighborhoods without public votes, and why the data being collected today may be the most dangerous in 2035 when AI is powerful enough to mine it retroactively. The heart of the episode is Bitcoin — Chris's origin story through the 2008 financial crisis, losing what would now be generational wealth in the Mt. Gox hack, and why he stayed convicted anyway. He breaks down why Bitcoin is a money protocol the same way HTTP is a web protocol, explains the Lightning Network in plain language, and makes the case that the generational divide between boomers and millennials is really an asset-ownership divide: inflation has been great if you owned a house, catastrophic if you didn't. He also walks through his value-for-value podcast model — no advertisers, audience as the customer, splits paid automatically over Lightning — and why transparency about how much each episode earns keeps him honest and keeps the show free from capture. The episode closes on the Clarity Act, Jamie Dimon's very loud objections to Coinbase, AI IPO mania as the biggest financial gamble of the decade, and what question to actually ask a Bitcoiner instead of "what's the price going to be?"Articulate.Ventures/IBCLegacyInterviews.com

This podcast episode features a compelling dialogue with the esteemed returning guest, Ray Niles, who elucidates the intricate themes surrounding his recent articles published in his Substack newsletter, "Capital Thoughts." We delve deeply into the nuanced concepts of cronyism and the fallacy of perfect competition, both of which serve as critical analyses of fundamental economic principles. Niles draws a striking analogy between the First Amendment and economic liberty, advocating for a separation of state and economics to mitigate the pervasive issue of cronyism. Additionally, he critiques the traditional economic model of perfect competition, arguing that it overlooks the essential dynamics of market discovery and the role of entrepreneurial innovation. Through this discourse, we aim to foster a richer understanding of these significant economic challenges and their implications for contemporary society.Show notes with links to articles, blog posts, products and services:OUR "GROUNDBREAKING" 50TH EPISODE! - The Secular Foxhole podcastCapital Thoughts by Raymond Niles - SubstackHow to End Cronyism“Perfect” Competition Is Worse Than ImperfectRaymond Niles dot comBecome a fan of The Secular Foxhole podcast on TrueFans.fmSupport page for The Secular FoxholeEpisode 111 (54 minutes) was recorded at 2000 Central European Time, on May 31, 2026, with Alitu's recording feature. He breaks down Fox News' bold claim of “one in four adults” hit by these cons, reveals exactly how scammers only need three seconds of audio plus data broker info to steal your money, and shares practical ways to protect yourself and your family — including the smart family password trick and why you should always call back. Darren also rants about why you should assume everything online is fake — from ESPN's disastrous AI-generated NBA videos and brain-melting social media shorts to propaganda clips, fake dashcam accidents, and selective outrage over current events like Trump at the NBA Finals, the Karmelo Anthony case, and rising tensions in Belfast. He explores the powerful new Ideogram v4 image model that gives creators insane canvas-style control, making it even harder to tell reality from AI. I stood up at the Minnesota Republican state convention and spoke on behalf of Lisa Demuth — the candidate for governor my party didn't end up endorsing. This is my honest account of why, and the bigger problem it exposes.I'm not here to relitigate the count or the chaos. I'm here to ask the question conservatives keep refusing to ask: if we believe in value for value, what value does the MNGOP endorsement actually provide? Because we haven't won a statewide general election in twenty years — the longest active losing streak of any state Republican party in the country.Maybe the candidates running past the endorsement aren't dishonorable. I was wrong and I admit it .... this is the real OG self help book.Today I dive into James Allen's 'As a Man Thinketh' (paired in my edition with From Poverty to Power) and it still lands today. It's short, punchy and refreshingly non-woo-woo with clear calls to personal responsibility, character-building and right thought leading to right outcomes. I read standout quotes, reflect on how its agnostic tone (with light biblical echoes) keeps the focus on self-mastery and share how it inspired me to become better. I also highlight where From Poverty to Power lost me (preachier with some outlandish claims about illness and sin) while acknowledging Allen's hard-earned optimism given his tough life story. Overall verdict: skip Poverty To Power, but As a Man Thinketh is a timeless, motivating read that influenced Hill, Peale and Carnegie. Stijn Schmitz welcomes Luke Gromen to the show. Luke Gromen is President and Founder of Forest For The Trees. Luke explores unprecedented global economic and geopolitical shifts, focusing on massive commodity supply disruptions and transforming monetary systems. He highlights several critical trends: the largest commodity supply flow disruption in history, unprecedented levels of globalization, sovereign debt, and market valuations. He argues that current global tensions, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz, could trigger significant economic challenges. The potential closure of strategic maritime routes could lead to dramatic supply chain breakdowns, potentially causing localized famines and massive economic disruptions. Gromen suggests that while the US dollar will remain widely used, it will no longer be the primary wealth storage mechanism. China is strategically positioning itself by establishing yuan-gold settlement systems and offshore clearing banks, effectively creating a multi-currency framework with gold as the pivotal settlement asset. Geographically, Gromen sees varied outcomes for different regions. He believes the United States has geographical advantages but warns against urban living during this transition. Europe appears most vulnerable, while Asian countries like China, Japan, and South Korea are potentially well-positioned to benefit from these shifts, particularly given their engineering capabilities and demographic dynamics. Regarding commodities, Gromen anticipates a generational trend favoring strategic metals like copper, silver, nickel, rare earths, and uranium. He predicts that future commodity trades will increasingly require value-for-value exchanges, moving away from paper-based transactions. The underlying theme is a fundamental restructuring of global economic systems, driven by supply chain fragilities, geopolitical tensions, and the need for more resilient, productivity-focused economic models. Gromen suggests this transition will likely involve significant inflation and economic recalibration, with gold playing a central role in the emerging monetary landscape.
