Just as the month of Iyar is a month for renewal of trees flowers and all growing things, it's also a time of rejuvenation and renewal for animals and man, this is way the acronym of Iyar is I am G-d who heals you. G-d's healing is unique, G-d's healing isלא אשים עליך, I will protect you from being unwell in the first place. The Talmud says that a doctor functions as a conduit to G-d's healing, and therefore not only heals but prescribes behavior that will ensure good health, so there is no need for healing. Because the doctor is merely a channel for G-d's healing there are two things doctors must remember to be that appropriate vessel. Number one, a doctor must put all kinds of bias and selfish motives out of the picture and merely focus on the benefit of the patient. This is a standard customary precept that doctors vow to uphold. A doctor also needs to pray to G-d to be have that clarity and perform medicine appropriately. The perfect approach to medical care has to be predicated on the following paradigm, "I am only doing a mission for the true healer of all flesh." The second thing that a doctor must be conscious of is the spiritual welfare of his patients. Although the patient has merely requested for assistance with his body, a doctor must endeavor to heal the soul as well, as this will enhance the health of the body too. This is obvious in certain circumstances, like when a doctor prescribes a diet of what a patient should or shouldn't eat, the doctor must empower the patient to overcome the urge of his palate. So the bottom line is that in medical care, the theme of this month, a Jew must connect to G-d, and the doctor feels that he's merely an emissary of G-d and that the healing of the body is connected to the enhanced health of the soul.Support the show (https://www.paypal.me/BaisBezalel)

What's happening Next? The name of this week's Torah portion is אחרי, Acharay can be translates as next or afterwards. They say that hindsight is 20/20 Vision, but how does that help me now when I can only see what's on the table today?Good morning!A Russian immigrant to the United States in the 70s had never had a bar mitzvah and had never before put on Tefilin. There was a piece of advice the Rebbe gave him that I think we all need to pay attention to.In the back and forth in the conversation, the man was resistant to accepting to commit to put on Tefilin every day. The Rebbe told him (more or less), "You can not know now for certain how you will feel in twenty years from now.If you put on Tefilin every day for the next twenty years and you regret it, you're regretting a loss of time of five minutes per day.But if you look back at your life in twenty years and say I should have put on Tefilin twenty years ago! You're regretting twenty years of life lost!"THIS man took this to heart and never missed a day of Tefilin for the rest of his life. If we slow down long enough to think about what the impact of a few minutes devoted to prayer Torah and kindness will have in our lives over time, it puts the effort and the commensurate gain into perspective. If you slow down long enough to enhance your relationship with your spouse, siblings, parents or your children, and give them five more minutes than you do now, you will gain so many more real years of life. After Moshiach comes, we will get the real perspective of what we should be doing, let's try to look through the rear view mirror, and remember: objects in the mirror are a lot closer than they appear.Support the show (https://www.paypal.me/BaisBezalel)

When you are eating the same thing for a week, even if it's your favorite food you aren't that excited to have any more of it..What's the first thing you're in the mood of after Passover? More matza? Probably not. Yet the Torah says that new food is prohibited. Only old food is good. What does that mean? Good morning! Have you heard of the prohibition of "chadash"? It's prohibited to eat from any grain that is "new". Every year on the second day of Passover, a barley offering was offered to G-d in the Temple. That offering was meant to be the very first usage of the new harvest. So it's forbidden to eat from the new harvest until a offering is made to G-d. This offering is called the "Omer", that's a Torah measurement. The amount of barley used weighed about 1.770kg. The Talmud states in Rosh Hashanah page 16a that Passover is a time of harvest for grain, and by giving the first gift to G-d, all the produce in the fields are blessed. There's a message here: Put G-d first. Want to see blessing in whatever you're doing, make sure whatever you do is old. That it's not the first thing you do. The first step of the day is to give to G-d, to pray, to study to give charity. Once that's in place, there's a blessing in what ever you do. So by making all the physical our old and always step two, we open the heavens for G-d's bountiful blessing.Support the show (https://www.paypal.me/BaisBezalel)

Four Questions About The Big Shabbat Why is it called the Big Shabbat? What does that name mean? All other holidays are associated with the day in the month when the celebratory event first transpired, but this is not about the day of the month, it's about the day of the week. Why are the events that happened on this Shabbat so significant that they're uniquely distinguished with a celebratory day? Many many miracles happened before the exodus, we don't celebrate the day that the water turned into blood? The days the other plagues happened, what is so unique about this Shabbat? Some write that this is the beginning of the miracles that happened but..I don't understand, don't the plagues rate for anything?? Good Morning! On the tenth of Nissan we were told by Moses to offer a sacrifice to G-d. We were told to offer a sheep as a sacrifice. The sheep was the deity of the Egyptians, and they asked us, what's our god doing in your house? When we responded that G-d is about to kill the Egyptian first born, the first born Egyptians were so frightened that they began a war with Egypt demanding that we be freed. That's why this miracle is so significant. It is not just about the victory of good over evil, and it's total destruction. It's about the greatest force of Egypt, of evil, represented by their first born sons, turning around to destroy itself. This is something that didn't happen before, and connected to Moshiach, who will cause darkness and evil to be transformed to light & goodness. And that's why it's celebrated on Shabbat specifically and not on the day of the month, the tenth of Nissan, this is because every Shabbat is a small taste of the coming of Moshiach Tzidkeinu, when impurity will be removed from the world, may we see this happen now!Support the show (https://www.paypal.me/BaisBezalel)

Before Passover it's customary to give charity specifically to help people celebrate Passover, which has considerably great expenses. This fund has throughout history been knows as "Maos Chitim" wheat money, because, among other things, the funds assist families in need to buy matzos, whichb consist of wheat flower and water.Technically, any of five kinds of grain are kosher to be used for matzos, wheat spelt rye oat or barley. The reason we specifically classify the fund as wheat money, is because when it comes to the holiday of freedom, we are meant to give the best. Not merely barley, but wheat.Similarly, the fund is not ONLY meant to help people buy matzos but to have all of the clothing and other delicacies needed to celebrate Passover in style. The tears of those in need and the spirit of those who have been humbled to ask for help is where gd rests. "You are high and holy and yet you rest on those who are humble" Isaiah 57.14. So a gift to a Jew in need is REALLY a gift to G-d. The title wheat money is not ONLY a message of what generosity means towards the needy, to give others the best, it's also a message we need to take home. When you're busy preparing for Passover and you're children ask for your attention for something SO unimportant, instead of getting annoyed, and do the Jewish guilt thing, "don't you know Passover is coming?"We have to remember that now is not the time to ask what is important and to get annoyed, now is the time to give children toys and treats and "wheat moments" if you will, that they will cherish and remember.Support the show (https://www.paypal.me/BaisBezalel)
