Ephesians 4:15 calls Christians to speak the truth in love, balancing grace and honesty in a way that reflects the heart of Christ. In this devotional, Michelle Lazurek explores the challenging but necessary role of biblical accountability within Christian relationships. While our culture often discourages correction and equates love with acceptance alone, Scripture teaches that genuine love sometimes requires difficult conversations that encourage repentance, growth, and spiritual maturity. Highlights Ephesians 4:15 teaches believers to speak truth with love and grace. Biblical accountability helps Christians grow in spiritual maturity. Difficult conversations can reveal deeper heart issues that need healing. Jesus modeled both compassion and truth throughout His ministry. Loving correction is meant to restore, not condemn. The Holy Spirit often uses trusted believers to bring conviction and growth. Avoiding hard conversations can hinder spiritual development. Healthy Christian relationships require both honesty and humility. Join the Conversation Have you experienced a time when God reminded you that He saw your pain, needs, or circumstances? Full Transcript Below: Love Others, Speak TruthBy: Michelle Lazurek Bible Reading:“Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.” - Ephesians 4:15 Who are you to judge me? This question came from a loved one who felt convicted about an action she had taken. When this person posted social media pictures that depicted her in a less-than-flattering light, I boldly spoke truth into her life. I let her know that the way she portrayed herself on social media was the way people would categorize her, even if she didn't always behave that way. Additionally, as someone who claimed to be a Christian, she needed to be an example in every situation, including social situations where pictures could be taken. In response to the above question, she became defensive and began arguing. However, as we began to argue, I noticed her thinking began to change. At one point, she started crying. When I asked her what was making her cry, she told me what was really going on in her life. Social media posts are merely a symptom of a much deeper problem. Once she humbled herself, we prayed together. We were also able to brainstorm solutions to her problems. I gave her some concrete advice, then told her I would check in with her later. I didn't want to have to confront her about what I saw on social media. In fact, it would have been much easier for me to sweep it under the rug and pretend it didn't exist. But staying silent, rather than boldly challenging her to change her behavior, would have done her an injustice. While many people think of Jesus as a gentle, kind man who hugged everyone and gave them what they wanted, nothing could be further from the truth. He spoke harsh words to many people, most of whom were Pharisees, a religious group. For many years, I questioned why Jesus would say such harsh things, such as calling them a brood of vipers. I realized that Jesus, who was closely associated with the Holy Spirit, had to make an exception. Jesus did what was right for everyone and never put himself, or any desire for the approval of man, ahead of what he was called to do. Jesus used harsh words with the Pharisees, hoping that their hardened hearts would soften and they would turn back to God. Confession and repentance are key to changing our behavior. However, we can't always see the flaws in our character. We need other people, who know us better than we know ourselves, to speak hard truths into our lives. These hard truths, when we reflect and analyze them, come from a place of love. Even if a person doesn't want to hear what's being said, it doesn't mean it doesn't need to be said. It merely means that the person is feeling conviction of the Holy Spirit. In the verse above, Paul understood that speaking the truth in love to one another would help the body of Christ grow into mature believers. Sweeping things under the rug and avoiding hurt feelings led to immaturity and a failure to thrive spiritually. As brothers and sisters in Christ, we are called to speak hard truths in love to each other. Even in this culture where people don't want to be judged, that judgment, when properly placed, can lead someone to the cross. When someone is led to the cross and their heart is genuine, the Holy Spirit can convict them, and they can turn their lives back to him. Although it may seem better, and even easier, to be silent in the name of being kind, kindness isn’t always what people need. When people are blind to their own destructive behaviors, those who love them enough to speak hard truths into their lives will aid them in repentance and devotion to the Savior. Father, let us be people who speak the truth and love one another. Help us to do so with boldness and conviction. Let us not bind ourselves to the world’s ways so that we do not judge. Rather, we need to lovingly speak the truth to others in the hope that they will turn their lives back to you. Amen. In this episode of The Way We See It, Pastor Alex Bryant breaks down the latest assassination attempt involving President Trump, now believed to be the third. Alex briefly walks through what happened at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, but more importantly focuses on what it means. Beyond the headlines and political sides, this moment reveals something deeper about where we are as a culture. The rhetoric is out of control, the humanity is fading, and the stakes are getting dangerously high. Pastor Alex challenges Christians to rise above the noise, to think clearly, respond biblically, and lead the way in restoring dignity, respect, and truth in a divided world. The people and policies that control how humans treat the natural world are increasingly dominated by a small class of elite political entities and corporations, argues our guest, political ecologist Bram Buscher at Wageningen University in the Netherlands, on this week's Newscast. This power, he says, is concentrated on platforms that have no allegiance to fact or truth, but rather serve only what increases their bottom line. Understanding this power dynamic and speaking truth to it is essential for the environmental movement to succeed. "If you keep on doing the same kind of things and not take the root causes, the root structural forms of power into account, you may have nice terms like nature-based solutions, ecosystem services, natural capital, but they don't actually challenge the power structures to change," he says. That structure he refers to as "platform capitalism." Tasks humans used to do through various options or pathways are now gate-kept by tech companies. These companies have monopolized these platforms, including social media, generative artificial intelligence, and search engines that prioritize data collection over sincere citizen engagement. This makes it difficult for the environmental movement's message to find an open audience. In some cases, people cannot tell the difference between what is real and what is not anymore. Buscher has written his thoughts in his book The Truth About Nature: Environmentalism in the Era of Post-Truth Politics and Platform Capitalism, which explains why "speaking facts to power" does not fundamentally change the policies currently failing the environment. Speaking truth to power, Buscher argues, is the only way to truly address the root causes of environmental destruction. "Unless we understand how power works … also authoritarian power … we can't go beyond it and or speak truth to it. To do something deliberately and consciously different." In this episode of The Way We See It, Pastor Alex Bryant takes a sobering look at what real authoritarianism actually looks like. When members of the Iranian women's national soccer team refused to sing their national anthem during the Women's Asian Cup, it was not a loud protest. It was silence. But that silence carried enormous risk. These athletes knew that speaking out against the regime could cost them their careers, their freedom, and possibly their lives. As several players sought asylum in Australia, the Iranian government reportedly began pressuring their families back home, threatening relatives and detaining loved ones. One by one, many of the players chose to return to Iran anyway, not because they trusted the regime, but because their families were now in danger. Pastor Alex uses this story to challenge the way Americans casually throw around words like tyranny and fascism. In many parts of the world, dissent is not debated. It is punished. This episode is a powerful reminder that freedom is messy, but it is also precious, and there are people across the globe risking everything just to experience a fraction of it. #TWWSI, #FreedomMatters, #IranProtests, #Authoritarianism, #ValueFreedom, #SpeakTruth, #GlobalPerspective, #PastorAlexBryant, #RealTalkFaith, #TheWayWeSeeIt Alex Bryant Ministries is focused on helping people be reconciled to God, then within one's own self, and finally being reconciled to our fellow man in order to become disciples. In today’s culture, fear often keeps us from speaking truth—even when someone’s actions are harmful to themselves or others. Aaron D’Anthony Brown encourages believers to confront sin with courage, clarity, and love, following the example of Jesus. Speaking truth doesn’t require aggression; it requires wisdom, discernment, and a heart aligned with God. Honest, righteous communication strengthens relationships and fosters spiritual growth in ourselves and others. Highlights Fear of confrontation can keep truth unspoken, enabling harm to continue. Jesus was not afraid to call out sin, yet He did so with purpose and discernment. Speaking truth effectively does not require anger; it requires wisdom and courage. Honest confrontation helps others grow spiritually, just as we rely on accountability to grow. Let your words be clear, consistent, and aligned with God’s righteousness. In our modern culture, telling someone anything remotely offensive has become taboo, even if they’re hurting us or hurting themselves. The thought of having any sort of confrontation proves too much. We become paralyzed before finding some justification to simply let things be. Yet at the same time, we continue to complain about said things. Recently, a friend of mine was sharing with me about someone in his friend group who was dabbling in transgenderism. My friend was afraid to share his thoughts on the issue with this person and instead remained silent, even though he was clearly concerned about his friend. There are so many people who feel like this today. Rather than tell people the truth, we tell them lies, or nothing at all, which they then interpret as affirmation, even though we know it to be sin. The solution is simple - put yourself in their shoes. What would we want people to do for us if we were sinning? Call us out? Leave us be? We ourselves know the right thing to do, but are not doing it. Jesus says to let our “yes” and “no” be clear. Let’s talk about how to do that. Intersecting Faith & Life: Recognize that Christ was offensive. Some of us in the modern church have started believing that Jesus got along perfectly with everybody all the time, but that just wasn’t the case. Jesus called people out on their sin. He wasn’t afraid to go against the culture. Why do you think there were so many who rallied against Him and were bent on having Him killed? Certainly, Christ did not offend for the sake of hurting others. There was truth that they needed to hear, and oftentimes they didn’t want to hear it. Nonetheless, what mattered most was the truth. The same applies to us today. Understand that the truth doesn’t have to be offensive. We often grow squeamish at the thought of treating sin with aggression. But here’s the reality: you don’t have to be aggressive. There is such a thing as righteous anger, but calling someone out for bad behavior doesn’t require you to be angry. As discussed, Jesus was not the pacifist we often make Him out to be, but He also didn’t go around yelling at everyone He caught misbehaving. Effective communication requires wisdom, something we can attain by first stepping out of our comfort zones and having these tough conversations. We need one another to grow. We’re no different from the people we complain about. Our struggles may differ. Some are certainly more severe than others. However, like the people we are afraid to confront, we have struggles we don’t realize ourselves. You’re hopefully not the same person you were a year ago, or five years ago. Why? You’ve learned more about yourself in that time. Some of which you learned on your own, but other things were brought to your attention. We need God and fellow believers to give us the wisdom to become aware. Likewise, we need to use the wisdom we’ve been blessed with and admonish those around us - effectively, honestly, and righteously. Truth in heart ensures fulfilled words and divine closeness._____________This Podcast Series is Generously Underwritten by Peter & Becky BotvinRecorded at TORCH Centre in the Levin Family Studios (B) to a live audience on July 21, 2025, in Houston, Texas.Released as Podcast on February 9, 2026_____________This series on Orchos Tzadikim/Ways of the Righteous is produced in partnership with Hachzek.Join the revolution of daily Mussar study at hachzek.com.We are using the Treasure of Life edition of the Orchos Tzadikkim (Published by Feldheim)_____________Listen, Subscribe & Share: Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/jewish-inspiration-podcast-rabbi-aryeh-wolbe/id1476610783Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4r0KfjMzmCNQbiNaZBCSU7) to stay inspired! Wehave been studying Ephesians chapter 4, where the Apostle Paul teaches that weare to live differently than we once did. Why? Because a new man has enteredour lives. That new man is none other than Jesus Christ Himself, living in usthrough the person and work of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit now dwellswithin us, giving us a new life—a life that can walk in righteousness and dothe things that please God. Paulbecomes very practical in this section, telling us what it means to put off theold man. In Ephesians 4:25, he begins by saying: “Therefore, putting awaylying, "Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor," for weare members of one another.” Here,Paul emphasizes the importance of truth. Youmay remember the moment when Pilate stood before Jesus and asked, “What istruth?” Just before that question, Jesus had declared in John 18:37: “Pilatetherefore said to Him, "Are You a king then?" Jesus answered,"You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for thiscause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth.Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice." That brings to mind Johnchapter 10, where Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, andthey follow me.” To follow Jesus is to follow truth. To know the truth, wemust have a personal relationship with the truth—because Jesus is the truth. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Wordwas with God, and the Word was God… All things were made by him.” “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begottenof the Father,) full of grace and truth.” Hereis John—a simple fisherman from the region of the Sea of Galilee—testifying, “Wehave met the truth. We have seen His glory.” He echoes this again in 1 Johnchapter 1, declaring that they had heard, seen, and touched the Word of life. Thistruth is none other than Jesus Christ—God in the flesh. John tells us that Hisglory was full of grace and truth. God reveals Himself as the source of alltruth. Jesus later said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and thelife.” When Pilate asked, “What is truth?” the answer, Jesus Christ,Truth Himself was standing right in front of him. TheBible teaches that we are born speaking lies. Psalm 58:3 says, “The wickedare estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speakinglies.” Jeremiah 17:9 tells us that the heart is deceitful above all thingsand desperately wicked. Our natural hearts are part of the old man, the oldnature, and “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks” (Matthew12:34). So how can you tell the difference between someone who follows Jesusand someone who does not? A follower of Jesus speaks the truth, believes thetruth, and loves the truth. Where is truth found? Truth is found in JesusChrist. Where is Christ found? In the Word of God. Thegreatest lie ever told was spoken by Satan in the Garden of Eden, when he toldEve, “You shall not surely die… you shall be like God, knowing good andevil.” In other words, “Follow your heart.” You hear that message everywhere today, but itis not biblical. The Bible does not say, “Follow your heart.” Jesus said,“Follow me.” And when you follow Jesus, you follow the truth. Satan is still whisperingthis lie in our ears today. “You can decide what is right or wrong. Do what makesyou feel good. You don't need God”. Thatis why Jesus said He was born, “to bear witness to the truth”. When you knowthe truth—when you know Jesus—you can speak the truth to your neighbor. Truthbuilds up; lies tear down. Truth strengthens fellowship; lies destroy it. MayGod help us understand this: Jesus is the Truth. Let us love Him, live for Him,and speak His Truth. When you speak the truth, you bear witness to JesusChrist! And if you have never received Him into your life, I encourage you todo so this Christmas Eve.
In this podcast, Pastor Justin preaches a Christmas message on how we must have a violent voice born on the inside of us in order to be just like Jesus, to go around doing good and destroying the works of the devil. Support the show
On this Make A Difference Minute, I'm reminding listeners that honesty and compassion work best when they work together. It's easy to tell the truth with frustration or anger, but truth delivered harshly can damage relationships. This segment encourages listeners to share truth in a way that lifts others rather than tears them down. When honesty is paired with kindness, it has the power to guide, strengthen, and heal. What does it really take to challenge the status quo, fight for truth, and defend your values in a system built to silence dissent? For Aaron Siri, attorney and advocate, it began in courtrooms and regulatory filings, standing up for parental rights, informed consent, and transparent systems, even when the odds were stacked against him. Today, he navigates litigation, policy, and public trust in one of the most contentious debates of our time: vaccines. In this episode of Common Denominator, we unpack Aaron's journey from legal underdog to vocal defender of transparency, how he analyzes systems most ignore, and why courage isn't loud, it's consistent. In this episode, you'll learn:- What it looks like when regulatory systems prioritize power over process- Why informed consent and transparency matter more today than ever- The mindset shifts required to challenge conventional wisdom and speak truth to power- How to stay true to your values when pressure to conform is constant- What freedom of speech really means when you're up against the establishmentLike this episode? On October 22, BigTentUSA hosted a thought-provoking conversation with Kerry Kennedy, President of @rfkhumanrights and @SenatorChrisMurphy (D-CT), moderated by @bulwarkmedia's Sam Stein. Rather than focusing solely on policy reform, the speakers explored how decades of broken promises from both Democrats and Republicans — coupled with the lack of a shared understanding of what it truly means to be American — have fueled the intolerance underlying today's immigration crisis. They reflected on how this erosion of shared values has weakened trust in institutions and deepened divisions across the country. The discussion also examined the broader democratic moment, from the real-world impact of the ongoing government shutdown to the growing threats posed by authoritarianism. Kennedy and Murphy emphasized that lasting progress depends not only on government action but on the collective power of citizens and civil society organizations to push for accountability and justice. It was an illuminating and deeply human conversation — a call to restore our sense of common purpose and to harness the power of civic engagement in defense of democracy and human rights.Learn more about RFK Human Rights: https://rfkhumanrights.org/ ABOUT THE SPEAKERS Kerry Kennedy is president of Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, where she partners with courageous activists around the world to advance justice and human dignity. A human rights lawyer and author of the New York Times bestsellers Being Catholic Now and Speak Truth to Power, Kennedy has spent more than four decades championing causes from women's rights and criminal justice reform to freedom of expression and environmental justice. The seventh child of Ethel and Robert F. Kennedy, she has led hundreds of human rights delegations globally and appears frequently as a commentator and contributor in national media. Kennedy serves on the boards of the U.S. Institute of Peace and the Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation, among others, and has received numerous international honors for her advocacy. She is a graduate of Brown University and Boston College Law School and the proud mother of three daughters.Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT), the junior United States Senator from Connecticut, has dedicated his career to public service as an advocate for Connecticut families. Senator Murphy has been a strong voice in the Senate fighting for job creation, affordable health care, education, sensible gun laws, and a forward-looking foreign policy. Senator Murphy is a consensus builder and many times throughout his political career has worked to bridge the political divide. He led a bipartisan effort to reform the mental health system, working across the aisle to craft the first comprehensive mental health bill in the Senate in decades. Following the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook elementary school in 2012, Senator Murphy became one of the leading proponents of commonsense reforms to reduce gun violence. He has championed a number of bipartisan bills aimed at expanding background checks and keeping guns out of the hands of criminals. And most recently, he was the lead Democratic negotiator of the breakthrough bipartisan border reform agreement. Sam Stein is managing editor for The Bulwark. Sometimes we take life a little too seriously. In this minisode, I invite you to play, to explore, and to try something new. I decided to put on a bright green wig today, and what began as a bit of fun turned into a deeper reflection about how we see ourselves and how the world sees us. It is amazing how quickly our energy can shift when we give ourselves permission to be curious, bold, and a little silly. As I looked at myself in the mirror, I started to think about the ways we all present ourselves. Are we showing up as our truest selves? Is there a gap between what we say and how we appear? Whether it is a color, a name, or a story we tell, every piece of who we are carries meaning. Sometimes, we have to try something different to remember who we have always been. This episode is a reminder that transformation does not always require a grand gesture. It can be as simple as choosing a new look, shifting your words, or seeing yourself through a new lens. The adventure is happening right now, in this moment, in the ways you allow yourself to grow, experiment, and express your truth. In this episode, I share:How color and play can shift your energy and perspectiveWhat animals teach us about authenticity and presenceWhy our outer expression often mirrors our inner storyThe power of trying something new to reconnect with your true selfA reflection on names, identity, and owning your next chapterResources and Links:Watch the Speak Truth to Live Summit featuring powerful conversations and teachings at theadventureparadox.com/speaktruthConnect with me on Instagram for more stories, inspiration, and behind-the-scenes adventures: https://www.instagram.com/theadventureparadoxGrab a copy of Billy and Blaze: https://a.co/d/cZsBIi4The adventure is right here, right now. Speak Truth to Power. John the Baptist reappears in this gospel from a prison cell, conducting a conversation with Jesus via messengers. Jesus follows up with a deeply complimentary description of John's brave work, acknowledging the reality that the gospel of God's reign is not good news for everyone (i.e. those in power with so much to lose). On this episode of The Ben & Marc Show, a16z co-founders Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz sit down with Erik Torenberg— General Partner at a16z and founder of the media company Turpentine—to unpack how the internet shattered the old media order and reshaped the way power works in America. What begins as a look at the evolution of media quickly becomes something bigger: a conversation about truth, trust, and the collapse of institutional authority.
