Always ask!” (16:04) – Devin – “Being able to bring that to a level where everybody is on the same playing field has really helped me when it comes to my career”   ABOUT THE HOST – PHIL BURGESS Phil Burgess is an independent IT consultant who has spent the last 20 years helping organizations to design, develop, and implement software solutions.  Phil has always had an interest in helping others to develop and advance their careers.  And in 2017 Phil started the I.T. KEY TAKEAWAYS  It's much quicker to get a return on an investment on digital real estate because it takes no time to set up social media or a webpage and you can reach the whole world. Creating and working on your personal brand is one sure way to build your online real estate. Many older people were taught that working hard was what you had to do to be successful. But the world has changed a lot, it's not just about what you need to learn but what do you need to unlearn? Repurposing your content is one of the best ways to leverage your time, content and build your online real estate. To leverage this further and create more wealth you want to use Rob's content bridge offer technique. Newsjacking is one of Rob's favourite and best hacks. When something major happens in the news, Rob makes sure to engage in it by releasing his opinion via a video rant giving his take on what's happening. You can either focus on news in your industry or focus on national headlines. BEST MOMENTS   “The great way to get a quicker return on investment is by building your digital estate portfolio” “Tiktok I find is the hardest channel to use yet it's the shortest form of content” “If you do what I said, 5 days a week…in 3, 6 or 9 months you're gonna pop and you'll go viral” VALUABLE RESOURCES https://robmoore.com/ bit.ly/Robsupporter https://robmoore.com/podbooks ABOUT THE HOST Rob Moore is an author of 9 business books, 5 UK bestsellers, holds 3 world records for public speaking, entrepreneur, property investor, and property educator. MASSIVE RANT: It's Now Illegal For Bosses to Text Workers After Hours

We have had the biggest world-wide event since the second world war, the impact is widespread and devastating to the economy. Yet, Portugal have now made it illegal for bosses to text or contact workers outside of work hours. Listen in to why Rob believes this is a massive mistake. KEY TAKEAWAYS  In Portugal, if bosses contact their employees outside of office hours then they can be fined. Rob is worried about this coming to the UK, how would it work for emergencies and flexible working. Also, surely now is the time we need to be more productive, not less so, after the impact of the pandemic. We have to innovate and be creative to solve problems, not create more barriers. Digital nomad is now a term in the dictionary. They work anytime, anywhere. How would this work if we are restricted to working hours? People don't have to reply to messages or answer their phone. It should be everyone's right to message someone they have an agreement with (e.g someone you work with or a friend) and it is the other person's right to not respond. It doesn't have to be made illegal. BEST MOMENTS   “Do not bring it to the UK, we need to work ourselves back into a good economic situation again” “I don't work office hours anyway and digital nomads don't work office hours either" "We have to creatively problem solve, not put up more barriers" VALUABLE RESOURCES https://robmoore.com/ bit.ly/Robsupporter https://robmoore.com/podbooks ABOUT THE HOST Rob Moore is an author of 9 business books, 5 UK bestsellers, holds 3 world records for public speaking, entrepreneur, property investor, and property educator. There aren't many companies that double their size every year and in this episode, Rob speaks to young billionaire Timus Turlov who has done just that with his business Freedom Finance. They talk about his story to success at such a young age, why company culture is so key in business and why he feels he has tremedous responsibility to his investors, his employees and his customers. KEY TAKEAWAYS  Timur started his business in 2008, before he had even finished studying! Freedom Finance is an investment company that Timur built with co-founders, sourcing 100 thousand dollars. Company culture is essential to Timur. He has a big family and relationships are important to him and he wants this to translate to Freedom Finance too. He attributes these strong relationships and the culture he has created, to Freedom's overall success. Timur sees himself as an entrepreneur as he does a lot of the ‘doing' in his company. He is there to inspire his employees, he is not just an investor. It is concerning to Timur the amount of people who do not understand the current world financial system. This is why he worries about cryptocurrency currently. Your reputation and time is much more valuable than money. If you have a strong reputation then it's easy to find money. If your reputation is very bad, no money will help your business survive. BEST MOMENTS   “Our industry is booming, we are growing incredibly fast” “I don't believe in a crash when they can print so much money” “If your reputation is extremely weak, no kind of money will help you survive” VALUABLE RESOURCES https://robmoore.com/ bit.ly/Robsupporter https://robmoore.com/podbooks ABOUT THE HOST Rob Moore is an author of 9 business books, 5 UK bestsellers, holds 3 world records for public speaking, entrepreneur, property investor, and property educator. But this does come with a downside, in that security is becoming a larger issue.   THE REVEAL What first attracted you to a career in I.T.? – Jack has always had a knack with computers, and enjoyed considering the opportunities that they could bring. What's the best career advice you received? – You are not your code. Don't take comments too personally. What's the worst career advice you received? – That being a front end developer only makes you unmarketable. What would you do if you started your career now? –Jack would work more upon the immature behaviour he displayed at the beginning of his career. What are your current career objectives? – Jack has focused upon side projects and appearances in order to provide an income separate from his employment. What's your number one non-technical skill? – Communication and confidence. KEY TAKEAWAYS  Comfort is one of the main costs to being an entrepreneur, but the lifestyle comes with great growth. Security is another cost to being an entrepreneur. But is having a regular pay check an illusion on security? Rob believes he is more secure as an entrepreneur as he can pivot and scale. Your responsibility is high as an entrepreneur. That can weigh heavy on the mind but can also give you a great sense of accomplishment and contribution. You have very little personal time as an entrepreneur which can impact on your personal life, hobbies and relationships. But, you are able to do what you love as an entrepreneur so you may not miss your hobby time as it can be the same thing. Figure out your key life areas, these should always be prioritised and thought about in all your plans, regardless of your entrepreneurship. KEY TAKEAWAYS  Rob is naturally a people pleaser and avoids conflict, a lot of people are like this but unfortunately this doesn't allow you to win in business. Do things that challenge you and make you feel uncomfortable. The only way you truly grow is through challenging yourself. BEST MOMENTS   “Fear based leadership is something of the 1980s, it's a relic of the past” “If you do avoid conflict you do lose in business” “I think you've got to be kind, caring and compassionate, you've gotta have a  long term vision” VALUABLE RESOURCES https://robmoore.com/ bit.ly/Robsupporter https://robmoore.com/podbooks ABOUT THE HOST Rob Moore is an author of 9 business books, 5 UK bestsellers, holds 3 world records for public speaking, entrepreneur, property investor, and property educator. In this authentic, genuine and honest episode, Rob speaks to fighter and father of Tyson Fury, John Fury! They talk about John's childhood, his journey into fighting, his role as a father and of course his sons. Listen in to this episode to hear about generational strength, mental health and the boxing world; past, present and future. KEY TAKEAWAYS  Fighting has been in John's family for generations. He began fighting to survive. Survival was in his and his brother's DNA. As the generations continue and it becomes diluted, John wonders if it will end. John learnt a lot about boxing the hard way, he wasn't treated well and had no support or coaching. He didn't want his sons to get into boxing but nothing could keep Tyson away from the ring. A difficult childhood is what John attributes a lot of his challenges in life to. He wanted to make life different for his children but he recognises that his own difficulties and strength is what helped raise a boxing champion like Tyson. John wants Tyson to leave a Fury legacy. Where he continues to win and do great things for the traveling community. John wants people to be open minded about Tyson and his background and allow him to achieve great things. The world has changed a lot in John's lifetime. He appreciates a lot of the good things in the modern world, such as the ability to be more open about our problems and feelings. However, he struggles sometimes as he believes life is a lot more complicated now, life used to be more straightforward and simple. Mental health is something John struggles with himself. He has built his own coping mechanisms to manage his symptoms, it is something he has struggled with all his life, he states if he has two ‘good' mental health days a week then he is happy. John knew his son Tyson was a champion from the day he was born. He fought hard to survive as he was premature and at the time John was a big fan of Mike Tyson, hence his namesake: he always knew he was a fighter, he always knew he was going to be special. Many people criticise John's son Tyson. John believes this is down to one word, jealousy. BEST MOMENTS   “There's nothing else more important to me than my name” “He's helping people outside the ring, not just in it” “People see things differently, it's a better world, it's a better place…there's a place for everybody” “I'm a simple man, I like simple things” “I just wanted to be happy and do normal stuff and enjoy doing it” VALUABLE RESOURCES https://robmoore.com/ bit.ly/Robsupporter https://robmoore.com/podbooks ABOUT THE HOST Rob Moore is an author of 9 business books, 5 UK bestsellers, holds 3 world records for public speaking, entrepreneur, property investor, and property educator. Bill lost his battle to brain cancer this past week, something he was fighting during this interview back in 2011, so we take this moment to honor him and listen to how he got Blues Hog started. Bill has been in the running for BBQ Hall of Fame the past 2 years but has not crossed over as of yet. Many folks remain disappointed that he has not been voted in and I wonder, in light of his passing, if this will change something next year. He has thought long and hard about his history and many difficulties and challenges to find the three biggest regrets to deconstruct with you in this episode. Subsidised Ticket to Recurring Income Summit: Robmoore.events KEY TAKEAWAYS  Not Starting Early Enough: You're never fully ready for anything, human beings are wildly resourceful if you allow yourself to be. Your innovation, creativity and problem solving ability shines if you start before you're ready. Not Hiring Quick Enough – It costs money and time to have staff which can be off-putting but you can't scale without staff. You will waste time on tasks that other people can do either better than you or cheaper than you. Personal Brand Consistency. People trust you. Your personal brand transcends any good business brand. BEST MOMENTS   “Shoulda, woulda, coulda, I can't change the past but I know I had opportunities earlier” “I see myself as a generalist the guy who creates the Vision and the  mission and the energy to move us towards something meaningful” “I don't regret mistakes I've made, I more regret things I haven't done” VALUABLE RESOURCES https://robmoore.com/ bit.ly/Robsupporter https://robmoore.com/podbooks ABOUT THE HOST Rob Moore is an author of 9 business books, 5 UK bestsellers, holds 3 world records for public speaking, entrepreneur, property investor, and property educator. In this week's show, Phil talks to Rob Rastovich, the Chief Technical Officer at ThingLogix, a provider of Internet of Things solutions, solution components and advisory services. He has been actively involved in technology for nearly 30 years including what is now known as Amazon's AWS IoT. As CTO of ThingLogix he is the chief architect behind the company's ground-breaking IoT platform that eliminates the need for code. Rob talks about the importance of continual learning and how it can advance our IT career paths. He also discusses why we must never feel boxed in by the career we choose, and why it's okay to follow our passions into other fields.   KEY TAKEAWAYS:   TOP CAREER TIP We must always be learning. The IT industry is never static, and so we must endeavour to keep abreast of what's new, and master the skills and tools that push us forward.   WORST CAREER MOMENT While working on a job, Rob accidentally deleted some invaluable information on a server. It taught him to always make sure that he is aware of the consequences of every command entered.   CAREER HIGHLIGHT The Amazon acquisition was a particular highlight. The early development of these systems were a period of experimentation and discovery, and provided much insight and motivation.   THE FUTURE OF CAREERS IN I.T The disappearing of laptops, computers and browsers, and the advancements that will replace them. The internet will become less of a service that we plug into, and something that becomes more ubiquitous – more device agnostic.   THE REVEAL What first attracted you to a career in I.T.? – After his first successful attempts at coding, Rob was hooked. What's the best career advice you received? – To go all in on ideas, and never live with any regrets. What's the worst career advice you received? – That Rob would be paid when the company went IPO. What would you do if you started your career now? –To have focused more time looking at the possibilities of cloud computing. What are your current career objectives? – Rob is focusing on stepping back from the cutting edge of innovation, and spending more time in guiding the next generation of thinkers and dreamers. What's your number one non-technical skill? – Ranching has taught Rob the value of balance. How do you keep your own career energized? – Rob is always researching and looking for the next big thing. What do you do away from technology? – Rob spends his time on his ranch, and enjoys outdoor pursuits.   FINAL CAREER TIP Rid yourself of the idea that your career path is permanent. Remain fluid, and if you find diversions that thrill you more than the path you're already on, follow your heart and diversify.   BEST MOMENTS  (6:37) – Rob - “The ability to discern and learn and absorb quickly has been the cornerstone for me” (6:50) – Rob - “That's a skill that you learn – how to learn” (15:09) – Rob – “Being on the cutting edge is fun and exciting, but it's not as profitable as being right behind that” (18:55) – Rob – “Shoot for the stars, and if you miss you'll end up on the moon”   ABOUT THE HOST – PHIL BURGESS  Phil Burgess is an independent IT consultant who has spent the last 20 years helping organizations to design, develop, and implement software solutions.  Phil has always had an interest in helping others to develop and advance their careers.  And in 2017 Phil started the I.T. Episode 201 Taking you back to 11/01/2011 - Folks, there have been some classic moments on this show...there are plenty of classic moments I don't even remember.  However, this isn't one of those...in fact, this particular segment which you will hear on Friday is one that has stayed with me since the moment it happened 10 years ago.  Have you ever heard me reference the Certified Angus Beef rant courtesy of Dave Bouska from Butcher BBQ?  If you have listened to this show for any length of time, this mention works into the classic parts of the show and its history...and is usually a top moment at that.  This Friday you will hear the segment from which this classic rant was born, and better yet, you get to hear the set up to it happening. This wasn't a topic that Dave wanted to come on the show to rant on...this was as organic and spontaneous as it gets...and, if you haven't heard this before, you are in for a treat!!  I can't believe it's taken 201 shows to get here....but Friday it happens again, for some, the first time, for many others, a stroll down memory lane to hear a great moment from the show's long and storied past Ready to make a “BEST OF” show all your own?? When you feel valued and good as a human being then you don't hurt others. Hurt people, hurt people. His biggest regret is how he has felt about himself most of his life, his self-esteem. In school he had to become a chameleon and a people pleaser to get approval and to survive. It lead to him having no idea who he was. Imagine what the world would be like if we all filled ourselves up with self worth. We need to learn to love ourselves for who we are and understand we are worthy of love no matter what. He is exercising his right of free speech, please do your own research on any controversial claims made in this episode. KEY TAKEAWAYS  If you start to look at control in society, you quickly realise that society is controlled by money. By those who have it and those who do not, the more choices you can make the more freedom you can have what dictates choice more than anything, is money. The ‘boom-bust' cycle is a long exchange of exchanging ‘fake' money e.g credit for ‘real' money e.g assets: this creates an unbalanced control in favour of the banks and the 1% Human empathy is an emotional consequence to what you're doing. Psychopaths do not have this and these are the types of people that are in control of the wealth and money system. They know how and why to manipulate others. If the few want to continue to have control over the many, then they need to centralise decisions. This is how globalisation has finally been formed and how the few exercise control in every area of our lives, including financial institutions. Covid has been a period of two years in which centralisation and manipulation has happened even faster, particularly around the decline of cash use. The world is run by ‘cartel' companies such as amazon and Facebook, they dictate a lot of what happens and stop any genuine capitalist companies from competing with them. The big corporations such as Facebook and Amazon have actually benefitted from the Covid lockdowns, whilst medium and small independent companies and individuals have suffered. If you know the outcome and goal of something then you understand the journey. If we understand what the end goal is for these people exerting control then we understand how what is happening right now ties into the bigger picture. David has thought throughout the pandemic that COVID is a scam, he is noticing now that more and more people are realising the same. There are many individuals that now believe that the pandemic wasn't about health but instead about control. BEST MOMENTS   “It's accumulation of control by the weapon that is money” “Globalisation is the centralisation of power in every area of our lives…simply the ongoing centralisation of power” “Who has benefitted in lockdown? Amazon and Facebook” “Furlough…buying silence and buying time for more and more businesses to be destroyed” “The many give their power to the few in the form of acquiescence” “It's an agenda way beyond health” VALUABLE RESOURCES https://robmoore.com/ bit.ly/Robsupporter https://robmoore.com/podbooks ABOUT THE HOST Rob Moore is an author of 9 business books, 5 UK bestsellers, holds 3 world records for public speaking, entrepreneur, property investor, and property educator. It's based on a labour system where individuals needed to be taught and educated to labour. We are now way beyond this as a society. Children aren't taught anything about money, not even the fundamentals like saving, finance and tax. This must change. Billionaires know about money, this is why they are so successful, they didn't learn what they needed in school, many are actually school drop outs! We need to unlearn most of the things we have learnt in education, it has not prepared us for the world we live in today and where we are heading. KEY TAKEAWAYS  Branding is what you want to stand for as a company for the longer term. The best form of marketing is when a customer experiences something and just can't wait to tell everyone else about it. Rafe found working at larger companies taught him a lot about what not to do, this was just as valuable as the things he learnt to do whilst working there. Larger companies have a unique challenge in that many people are doing jobs, not realising what they do each day feeds into the customer, not realising the impact and the difference they can make. Building and instilling a great vision can really help with this, ensuring every employee truly understands what the companies aim is and how they fit into it. Toxic people in companies can destroy morale and will end up coming back to bite you. No matter how well they perform, you need to remove them as soon as you can. Marketing has changed considerably and quickly over the past two decades. Marketing has gone from more ‘blanket' approaches with little tracking to being able to be ultra-specific and precise and being very measurable. BEST MOMENTS  “Branding is the longer-term thing you want to stand for in your business” “Get rid of toxic people” “Top performers can often suppress others” VALUABLE RESOURCES https://robmoore.com/ bit.ly/Robsupporter https://robmoore.com/podbooks ABOUT THE HOST Rob Moore is an author of 9 business books, 5 UK bestsellers, holds 3 world records for public speaking, entrepreneur, property investor, and property educator. Episode 107 features the second halves of fascinating conversations with Ron Blomberg, the 1st official MLB designated hitter and Greg Rempe, host of The BBQ Central Show. Ron Blomberg was only getting started in episode 105.  In the 2nd part of our conversation he discusses the many ways' baseball has changed and his feelings toward those changes.  He talks about his love for the New York fans as well as his love of food and being banned from an all-you-can-eat restaurant.  Ron was the New York Yankees first overall pick in the 1967 amateur draft and on April 6, 1973, he became the first major-leaguer to bat as a designated hitter in a regular season game.  He is also an author and his latest book, The Captain & Me:  On and Off the Field with Thurman Munson provides great information on Ron's career, but more importantly provides an in-depth look into the special relationship he had with Thurman Munson whom he refers to as his "brother."  Ron and Thurman shared many wonderful times together and hearing him describe their friendship makes one appreciate their special bond.  Ron was an exceptional athlete, played the game hard, and it is quite apparent he has lived his life with the same passion with which he played.  We end the conversation with a very long goodbye. Greg Rempe is back for the 2nd half of our conversation and will talk about barbecue, but he is also a big baseball fan who, like many of us, has very strong opinions on many things in the game.  Our baseball talk included the Cleveland team and their new name, bad trades Cleveland has made, favorite players,  steroid users, and so much more.  Greg does not hold back and was unafraid to answer any questions we threw at him, including who should play the part of Greg Rempe if The BBQ Central Show was ever made into a movie.  Greg and Jeff have a friendly debate and Greg discusses his trust issues.  Greg is the creator and host of the longest running, most listened to, and extremely entertaining shows dealing with live fire cooking, The BBQ Central Show.  His show can be heard live every Tuesday night from 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm and is released in podcast format; the first hour on Wednesday and the second hour on Thursday.  Then on Fridays you can catch up on parts of past episodes listening to The Best Moments of The BBQ Central Show in 10 Minutes or Less.  Greg continues being extremely candid and willing to discuss everything.  You can find out more about his show by going to http://thebbqcentralshow.com/   We conclude the show with the song, "Baseball Always Brings You Home" from the musician, Dave Dresser and the poet, Shel KrakofskyWe recommend you go to Fifth & Cherry, https://fifthandcherry.com for wonderful cutting boards and http://www.baseballbbq.com for grill tools and clothing for barbecue and baseball fans and the Pandemic Baseball Book Club, https://www.pbbclub.com  to find many of the wonderful books we have featured as well as some additional swag.We truly appreciate our listeners and hope that all of you are staying safe.If you would like to contact the show, we would love to hear from you.Call the show:  (516) 855-8214Email:  baseballandbbq@gmail.comTwitter:  @baseballandbbqInstagram:  baseballandbarbecueYouTube:  baseball and bbqWebsite:  https://baseballandbbq.weebly.comFacebook:  baseball and bbq

KEY TAKEAWAYS  Trump accuses ‘big tech' of silencing opposing views of people in the US, including his own. This is his ‘big play' against them after being banned from multiple platforms including twitter and Facebook. Is this the start of a movement against the big platforms, of decentralisation? Maybe this is a positive thing, for free speech and independence. If people removed judgement they could learn from Trump, in the same way you can learn from a lot of people. David & Kattie led L&D in different regions - at the same - at The Walt Disney Company and in this episode they reminisce about what it was like, some of the great opportunities they had and some of the challenges they faced.  This is a candid conversation that will appease Disney fans - and L&D fans - alike. KEY TAKEAWAYS For large organisations like Disney, the approach to L&D has to be different for each business unit and its growth trajectory. Teaching someone something, changing them and then putting them back into an unchanged environment does not move the needle much. In Orlando, 18 to 20,000 people go through orientation, every year. In the podcast, Kattie explains how that is achieved. For Disney storytelling was an effective way to immerse new hires into the culture and get them to understand that they were playing a role in creating the guest´s stories. All employees need to be clear on the company´s mission and how they fit into achieving it. It is not enough to teach people processes, they need to be equipped to quickly make decisions on the job. There is no point in teaching a class using the standard corporate approach if it means that the learning objective will not be achieved. When a business is moving super fast, you need different techniques and smaller training blocks. Kattie shares some ways to create and deploy them. The best learning resources enable people to learn at the moment that they need it, or shortly thereafter. Flexible approaches and tools that adapt to the audience, culture and environment are best. BEST MOMENTS ' 'It starts with the mission, the shared value.' 'When you are training masses of people keep it simple and help them to navigate their day, their job. ' 'You've got to have tools and resources available for individuals to tap into learning in the moments they need it.' Key Business Metrics For Fast Growth (WARNING)

The Disruptive Entrepreneur

“You cannot master what you do not measure” In this episode, Rob is warning you to ensure you are measuring all the key metrics in your personal finances and in your business. There are certain metrics that are essential in growing both your personal and business finance and if you are not tracking these well, it could lead to failure. KEY TAKEAWAYS  You need a yearly set of management accounts, which are your abbreviated or estimated profit and loss of your business. You can start with a generic set and then tailor it to fit. To measure your assets and liabilities you need a balance sheet – it is essential to track. You need to know how much revenue each of your employee generates, you need 1-2 times return on an admin staff member but someone who works in sales should be generating at least 5 times more than their salary. Staff turnover can create major changes in your revenue and cash flow. Track your staff tenure rate, if it is below the average for your sector then you need to look at why this is. If you measure your refund rate you then know if it needs to be lower. A lower refund rate means a leaner and more profitable business. A NPS score is essentially a satisfaction score- either for your customers or your staff. It is a scale of 0-10 and is based on a survey you ask customers and/or employees to fill out. BEST MOMENTS  “If you are not seeing a full set of management accounts…you do not know what is going on in your business” “You need to know the revenue generated per staff member in your company” “The average tenure for staff members is only 2 years”   VALUABLE RESOURCES https://robmoore.com/ bit.ly/Robsupporter https://robmoore.com/podbooks ABOUT THE HOST Rob Moore is an author of 9 business books, 5 UK bestsellers, holds 3 world records for public speaking, entrepreneur, property investor, and property educator. Episode 105 features The BBQ Central Show host, Greg Rempe and the 1st official MLB designated hitter, Ron Blomberg.  Greg Rempe is the creator and host of the longest running, most listened to, and extremely entertaining show dealing with live fire cooking, The BBQ Central Show.  He joined us back on episode 56 and since then he has been a show supporter while offering numerous helpful tips which we have implemented as we strive to improve and for which we are very grateful. Not only is he well versed in barbecue, but he can talk baseball too.  Part one is mainly barbecue talk, but it is so much more as Greg is extremely candid and willing to discuss everything.  You can find out more about his show by going to http://thebbqcentralshow.com/    Ron Blomberg was the New York Yankees first overall pick in the 1967 amateur draft and on April 6, 1973, he became the first major-leaguer to bat as a designated hitter in a regular season game. Part one is just the beginning of a very enjoyable discussion. We conclude the show with the song, "Baseball Always Brings You Home" from the musician, Dave Dresser and the poet, Shel Krakofsky. We recommend you go to Fifth & Cherry, https://fifthandcherry.com for wonderful cutting boards and http://www.baseballbbq.com for grill tools and clothing for barbecue and baseball fans and the Pandemic Baseball Book Club, https://www.pbbclub.com  to find many of the wonderful books we have featured as well as some additional swag.We truly appreciate our listeners and hope that all of you are staying safe.If you would like to contact the show, we would love to hear from you.Call the show:  (516) 855-8214Email:  baseballandbbq@gmail.comTwitter:  @baseballandbbqInstagram:  baseballandbarbecueYouTube:  baseball and bbqWebsite:  https://baseballandbbq.weebly.comFacebook:  baseball and bbq

She is also a tech blogger, a YouTube creator and a public speaker. Anna discusses impostor syndrome and why it's always wise to receive feedback with the right mind-set in place. She also talks about the importance of altering your perspective when looking for a job in the IT sector.   KEY TAKEAWAYS: TOP CAREER TIP When you are faced with insecurity and constructive feedback, remember that you are never there to prove yourself to someone. Remember to keep a learning mind-set active whenever feedback of any kind is offered.   WORST CAREER MOMENT Anna gave up when she was young, which is a constant source of regret. With the passage of time, she has come to realise how skilled she was, but was held back by societal expectations.   CAREER HIGHLIGHT Anna made a career change and took on a new role, pivoting completely in terms of a career path, working hard to build her technical skills, and also applied much effort into understanding the back-end of tech while building an online presence and community.   THE FUTURE OF CAREERS IN I.T Anna is most excited about the potential of tech – how it can achieve lasting change, benefit humanity, and reinvent itself constantly.   THE REVEAL What first attracted you to a career in I.T.? – The potential of technology and how it can change the world. What's the best career advice you received? – Don't be afraid to say no! What's the worst career advice you received? – To not ask for a very big salary upon moving to Leipzig. What would you do if you started your career now? – Anna would focus on back-end technologies and Java. What are your current career objectives? – Anna's main objective is to raise her technical skills as much as possible. What's your number one non-technical skill? – Public speaking. How do you keep your own career energized? – Anna always looks for challenges to keep her knowledge fresh and her instincts keen. What do you do away from technology? – Gym work and training.   FINAL CAREER TIP When looking for a job or career path, we must think less about our own needs and wants and more about the wants and needs of our potential employers or recruiters.   BEST MOMENTS (6:43) – Anna - “It's not about an improving-yourself mind-set. It's about a learning mind-set” (7:21) – Anna - “Finding those gaps in your knowledge is a good thing” (17:31) – Anna – “If something isn't right for you, or if you don't have time, it's better to say no” (20:42) – Anna – “Think less from your perspective, and think more from a recruiter's perspective”   ABOUT THE HOST – PHIL BURGESS Phil Burgess is an independent IT consultant who has spent the last 20 years helping organizations to design, develop, and implement software solutions.  Phil has always had an interest in helping others to develop and advance their careers.  And in 2017 Phil started the I.T.
