The documentary "Best Day Ever" features the world's first adaptive mountain bike trail network and the athletes who are changing lives. In 2022, Allie Bianchi, a 23-year-old outdoor enthusiast and special educator from Richmond, broke her neck while mountain biking. She is now paralyzed below her chest. In 2025, Bianchi was rolling again, this time on a specially adapted mountain bike. Now, she is the star of a new film.“Best Day Ever” follows the story of several adaptive mountain bikers — including Bianchi, Greg Durso and Ryan Manning — as they rediscover a sport they love. Central to their return to biking is the story of the world's first adaptive mountain bike trail network, which was built with the help of volunteers from Richmond Mountain Trails. The Driving Range opened in Bolton in 2024. Last week, the Vermont Land Trust signed an agreement with the DesLauriers family, the owners of Bolton Valley resort, to conserve the land where the Driving Range is located. Richmond Mountain Trails and the Catamount Trail Association will hold recreation easements.Berne Broudy, a veteran Vermont outdoor journalist who is also president of Richmond Mountain Trails, produced and co-directed “Best Day Ever” with filmmaker Ben Knight. The 48-minute film has been winning awards at film festivals around North America since its release last fall. The film and the trail project it chronicles show how a community can not only open the outdoors to people with disabilities. It can change culture.Broudy recalled that when a group of local teenagers came to help build the trails, they didn't know how to interact with people with disabilities. “Within one trail night of digging together, riding bikes together, eating hot dogs together, hanging out together, that dynamic totally changed,” Broudy said.“It's not so much about the trail as it is about changing the mindset to include everyone and being inclusive and allowing for these small changes that make huge differences in other people's lives,” said Manning, who works as an account manager at Burton Snowboards and has quadriplegia.Bianchi has seen how her participation in adaptive sports has changed attitudes. “When you spend time with someone with a disability, you learn that there is no difference,” she said. “It's just normalized. And I think we need more of that in this world.”One of the film's most powerful moments features Bianchi returning to the scene of her accident. She is riding an adaptive mountain bike and accompanied by the two friends she was with when she was injured. Returning to ride the trail again was a milestone for her.“You're continuing to conquer and do even greater and better things,” she reflected. “It hasn't really stopped you. And I think that is really cool."

May The 4th Be With You
This special Thursday edition of our weekly live show covered a lot of ground. Sam joined us from the road just after the premiere Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nite event at Disneyland. That meant new popcorn buckets, sippers, event details, and a firsthand look at what the night actually felt like in the park. But the show did not stay in one lane. Holly returned with a quick Hallmark update. We got new dates for the 2026 EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival and Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, which starts earlier than ever on August 7. Greg also got a firsthand look at the construction progress at Disney Lakeshore Lodge. And Sam had more Disneyland to cover beyond Star Wars. That included Bluey's Best Day Ever, the return of Paint the Night, Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival just wrapping up, and a look inside the updated timeline at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. Sam Reports Back from Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nite The biggest headline of the night was Sam joining from the road fresh off Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nite. Disney describes these after-hours events as running from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Disneyland park, with themed entertainment, specialty menu items, character experiences, shorter attraction wait times, unlimited digital PhotoPass downloads, and commemorative keepsakes. The April 28 event also landed right at the front edge of Disneyland's larger Star Wars season. That made this more than just another party-night recap. Star Wars Nite was also one of the first chances for guests to see how Disneyland was expanding the story at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. That is a meaningful detail for fans who care about continuity in Galaxy's Edge. For years, the land sat in a very specific point on the Star Wars timeline. This new approach gives Disneyland more room to bring in different characters and stories, which makes the land feel more flexible going forward. The Popcorn Buckets and Sippers Were Part of the Story Too Of course, it would not be Star Wars season at Disneyland without new novelty items. Disney Parks Blog previewed fresh Star Wars popcorn buckets, sippers, and other collectibles tied to the May the 4th celebration window, with select items also available during Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nite. The April 28 and April 30 event nights also gave guests early access to shop some items from the May the 4th Logo Collection. [caption id="attachment_81547" align="aligncenter" width="1920"] Disney's May the 4th Foodie Guide 2026 puts the spotlight on new Star Wars novelties, drinks, and limited-time treats.[/caption] That is part of what made Sam's report from the event especially useful. These limited releases are no longer side details. They are part of how fans plan these nights, and often part of what gets remembered most. We Have Dates for EPCOT Food and Wine Festival 2026 Back on the Walt Disney World side, Disney officially announced that the 2026 EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival runs from August 27 through November 21, 2026. That gives fans another long runway of booths, bites, drinks, and festival energy at EPCOT as the year starts to shift toward fall. This is always one of those planning stories that gets people moving fast. Once the dates are out, the conversation changes from waiting to planning. Vacation timing, festival strategy, and what Disney might reveal next all suddenly start to matter. Mickey's Not-So-Scary Starts Earlier Than Ever We also now have dates for Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, and yes, it starts earlier than many fans expected. The 2026 party season runs from August 7 through October 31. That August 7 start puts Halloween planning in motion very early, even by Disney standards. That early start is one of the biggest practical takeaways from the whole week. If you are planning a late-summer trip, the line between summer and Halloween at Walt Disney World keeps getting thinner. Greg Gets a Firsthand Look at Disney Lakeshore Lodge Greg also checked out the construction progress at Disney Lakeshore Lodge, which Disney introduced on April 21 as a new waterfront retreat where guests and their loved ones will discover the wonder of nature through Disney storytelling. The project is one of the more interesting resort stories at Walt Disney World right now because it is being framed around atmosphere and setting as much as new-room inventory. Holly Checks In with Hallmark Happenings Holly was back as well with a quick Hallmark Happenings segment. That has become a nice recurring part of the show because it adds another lane for Disney collectors and nostalgia fans. The Hallmark 2026 Dream Book is now live digitally, and it includes new Disney Parks ornaments, including entries tied to attraction and park memories. That kind of update may not sound like a headline next to Star Wars Nite or Mickey's Not-So-Scary dates, but it fits the audience well. Disney fandom has always lived in the details, and Hallmark is one of those spaces where that detail-driven nostalgia shows up every year. Sam's Disneyland Report Went Beyond Star Wars What made this episode especially strong was that Sam's Disneyland report did not stop with Star Wars. He also looked at Bluey's Best Day Ever, which debuted at Disneyland park on March 22, 2026. Disney Parks Blog says the Fantasyland Theatre has been reimagined as Bluey's school, with Bluey and Bingo appearing in rotating show moments throughout the day, along with themed food and merchandise. [caption id="attachment_80752" align="aligncenter" width="1219"] Bluey and Bingo bring Bluey's Best Day Ever to Disneyland March 22 with shows, games, themed food, and new merch.[/caption] That matters because Bluey is not just another character meet and greet. It is one of the clearest examples of Disney leaning into what younger families are excited about right now, and doing it in a way that feels like a full offering instead of a quick overlay. Paint the Night Is Still a Draw at Disneyland Sam also covered Paint the Night, which remains one of the biggest reasons fans want to be in Disneyland after dark. Disney has said the fan-favorite parade is part of the Disneyland Resort 70th Anniversary entertainment lineup and that the 70th celebration continues through August 9, 2026. That gives the parade extra weight this summer. It is not just back. It is part of a limited anniversary window, which makes it feel more urgent for fans trying to fit Disneyland into their 2026 plans. Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Was Wrapping Up Sam also touched on Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival just as it was wrapping up. That gave the show another useful Disneyland Resort perspective, because it let the conversation stretch beyond one single event night and into the broader seasonal experience across the resort. That is part of what made this special edition feel fuller than a simple Star Wars recap. It covered how much was happening across Disneyland at once, from Star Wars to Bluey to nighttime entertainment to the final stretch of the spring food festival. Watch the full live show below.

Big Disney News Changes the Shape of the Show This week's episode of This Week at Walt Disney World came in with a full list of park updates, entertainment news, and fan conversation. Then the 2026 Disney shareholder meeting added a new layer to everything Sam and Greg were already discussing. It did not stop the show. Instead, it gave the episode more weight. With new CEO Josh D'Amaro sharing updates in real time, the conversation naturally shifted as Sam and Greg worked through what those company-level announcements could mean. Bluey Expands Across Disney Parks and Beyond Even with the shareholder meeting unfolding, Sam and Greg still covered the full slate of Disney park news. One of the biggest stories was Bluey's growing presence across Disney parks and platforms. Disneyland launches Bluey's Best Day Ever on March 22, complete with themed food, a popcorn bucket, a sipper, and added family appeal. Then on May 26, Bluey heads to Disney's Animal Kingdom as part of a much bigger summer rollout. Add in new Bluey minisodes on Disney+ and Bluey's Big Play, and Disney's strategy is clear. Bluey is becoming one of its biggest family-facing brands. Cool Kid Summer Starts May 26 That same date, May 26, also marks the launch of Cool Kid Summer. Sam and Greg walked through the lineup, including Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live, The Magic of Disney Animation, Learn to Draw with Olaf, Off the Page, and Soarin' Across America. Taken together, those experiences point to a summer built around families, animation, and recognizable Disney characters. That makes Cool Kid Summer one of the most important seasonal pushes Disney has announced in a while. Buzz, Star Wars, and Summer Ticketing News The week also delivered several major planning updates for Walt Disney World guests. Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin reopens April 8 at Magic Kingdom, while The Mandalorian & Grogu arrive on Smugglers Run May 22. Disney also rolled out special discount tickets for kids, giving families another reason to start thinking about spring and summer trips now. Olaf, New Costumes, and More Across Disney Around the parks, cast members are debuting new costumes, while Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck continue expanding Disney's relationship with F1 Academy. [caption id="attachment_80739" align="aligncenter" width="1200"] Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck will be front and center of the Disney x Formula 1 ACADEMY collaboration this spring, appearing in exclusive merchandise, on-site character experiences and original content that brings their magic to fans old and new.[/caption] Then there was Olaf. During the week, Olaf appeared at NVIDIA GTC ahead of Disneyland Paris, giving Disney fans one more unexpected crossover moment. Outside the parks, Disney Cruise Line's Midnight Magic commercial premiered during the Oscars and quickly pulled at fans' emotions. Meanwhile, speculation continued around a possible Darkwing Duck reboot. Greg Lands a Guinness World Record Then came one of the most unexpected moments of the show. During the broadcast, Greg got official word that his name is in the Guinness Book of World Records. The record came in support of the smallest popcorn bucket ever, which instantly became one of the most memorable parts of the night. For a show that already tracks popcorn buckets, collectibles, and theme park oddities, the announcement felt perfectly on brand. Disney Madness Moves to Round 2 The episode also kept the fan bracket energy going as Disney Madness moved into Round 2. That added one more layer to a show already packed with park news, company updates, and collectible culture. All That and More with Sam & Greg Live From shareholder meeting updates and Bluey expansion to Cool Kid Summer, Olaf, Disney Madness, and Greg's Guinness World Record moment, this was one of the busiest live shows in recent weeks. Join Sam and Greg each week for This Week at Walt Disney World LIVE, where Disney news, live reactions, and fan conversation come together.
This week, Bluey is coming to Disneyland, Magic Key Holders are getting some nice perks in the mail, and a scavenger hunt, Josh Gad is another cast member, cast members are celebrated, an update on the busses, we talk about the history of Disneyland Fireworks, and more! Please support the show if you can by going to https://www.dlweekly.net/support/. Check out all of our current partners and exclusive discounts at https://www.dlweekly.net/promos. News: On March 22, a beloved character from down under will debut a new show at Disneyland. “Bluey's Best Day Ever!” at the Fantasyland Theatre will celebrate the heart and humor of Bluey. The theater will be transformed into Bluey's school where Bluey and Bingo will appear on stage at set times throughout the day, with two unique shows. A group of comedic performers and musicians will join them to bring to life popular board games, music, and dances. Chattermax, Unicorse, and a troupe of Grannies will also make appearances. There will also be a life-sized Gnome Village and Fairy Garden with interactive areas. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/bluey-at-disneyland-resort/ Magic Key Holders will have a new way to enjoy the resort with the Magic Key Road Trip pit stop scavenger hunt to celebrate Disney California Adventure's 25th anniversary. Key holders will pick up a special map at Kingswell Camera Shop on Buena Vista Street and use it to complete the hunt. After the hunt is completed, collect a prize later in April. Check the Magic Key Portal in the Disneyland App for all the details. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/california-adventure-25-scavenger-hunt/ Continuing this Road Trip theme, Magic Key holders will also want to keep an eye out in their mailboxes for a complimentary gift coming soon. An exclusive set of car air fresheners inspired by attractions and experiences from Disney California Adventure! Each mailer will include three themed air fresheners, with a citrus smell for Grizzly Peak and Soarin', new car smell for Cars Land and Radiator Springs Racers, and Sakura for San Fransokyo Square. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/magic-key-road-trip-2026-air-fresheners/ Ever since Josh Gad was made a Disney Legend and he shared not getting to be a cast member for the Jungle Cruise, it seems like Disney has been trying to make up for this. So far, he has been a Jungle Cruise Skipper, a Disneyland Railroad Conductor, a Haunted Mansion cast member, and more. This time, he is taking guests on a journey through Storybook Land Canal Boats. This time, he doesn't know the script and snuck onto the boat to entertain guests. Check out the link in our show notes to watch all the chaos. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/gad-in-storybook-land/ The Disneyland Resort just held an event to celebrate cast members with service of 10 years or more. Jan Fleener and Richard Ruiz were in attendance, celebrating 55 years of service at the resort! The two were celebrated by being driven down the Performance Corridor in the Five and Dime classic car. Cast members are invited to these events starting at their 10th anniversary, then every 5 years of service after. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/disneyland-cast-service-celebration-2025/ Actress Jennifer Garner has a baby food brand called Once Upon a Farm that is now available for purchase at Disney California Adventure. Guests can pick some up at Fillmore's Taste-In in Cars Land. The food features cold-pressed pouches and plant-rich meals for babies, toddlers, and big kids. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/once-upon-a-farm-at-disney-california-adventure/ Two unfortunate events occurred at the Disneyland Resort this week. The first was a hazmat situation backstage near Star Tours that resulted in cast members being transported to the hospital out of caution. Nobody was seriously injured and it was limited to backstage. Anaheim Police were summoned to the resort in a Swatting Incident that claimed a mass shooting event at the resort. A swatting is where someone calls in a serious call to 911 that turns out to be a prank, even though police, and sometimes SWAT teams are sent. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/disneyland-swatting/ https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/disneyland-hazmat-incident-star-tours-backstage/ SnackChat: Bluey-themed bites – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/disney-eats-bluey-food-beverage-at-disneyland-resort/ Discussion Topic: History of Fireworks – https://www.micechat.com/335190-disneyland-fireworks-history-all-shows/ Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Africa is home to some of the best Whitewater Rapids in the world. With huge rivers, though comes huge risk, not only from the water, but in it as well. Hendrick Coetzee fell in love with white water rafting - he felt at home in the dangerous swirl, and even the most deadly of animals in Africa didn't scare him to dry land. He adventured experienced and loved every second of it, but just as he was finding, it was time to step away from the waters edge, he was pulled in. By adventure, intrigue, and finally the jaws of a Maneater. The outdoors are a beautiful that can be filled with light and bliss and many different ways to bring yourself closer to those you love and yourself. But they can also be filled with terror and death, imminent and oppressive. Join me as we dig into these stories that inspire you to be just a little bit more careful while you're in the outdoors.
