When he founded BidList, he knew it was the culmination of his home improvement experience he garnered over the years. Ian discusses his move from Oakland to Smithfield, Rhode Island to attend Bryant, his journey to find the right fit after school, and how a not-so-great internship helped him find his passion. Ian breaks down what BidList does, their biggest struggles & opportunities to date, and what's next. BALLS: We intro with some baseball talk - who would've thought Domingo Germán would be the 24th pitcher ever to throw a perfect game?! We break down all things Yankees - do they have enough in the tank to go the distance? Could a trade for Juan Soto be in play? We also review our stories with Immaculate Grid - a great online game that will trigger nostalgia for any baseball fan. Now that the NBA Draft is complete, we debate if college basketball players are doomed or if this was simply a weird draft year. This week on Beer Sessions Radio, Jimmy finally gets a break from the online world with an in-person visit to Plant Pub by the famous Fenway Park. Sitting down with Pat McAuley, one of the pub's co-founders and a plant-based athlete, they will attempt to show you a new future for pub and pub food that's growing in Boston. The episode kicks off with Pat's introduction to the beer world at Russ Heissner's Barrel House Z and his journey from a meat-eating college football player (who happens to look like Julian Edelman) to a plant-based activist. He'll then move on to talk about the 350-seat location that they are sitting in right now, waiting for Jimmy's classic burger and fries made entirely out of plants. Pat will also share more about Plant Pub's approach with plant-based food, which is focused on making these dishes more accessible through familiar language and menu items. He also shows appreciation for his head chef Mary Dumont and the team along with his partners Sebastiano Cossia Castiglioni and Matthew Kenney. After our short break, the gang will talk about Pat's podcast, where he interviews nutritional experts and people who went through the same journey as he did (with the first episode featuring his own mom). They also discuss the health benefits of a plant-based diet, and just how well it goes with craft beers. Last but not least, Pat shares how he's supporting local farmers and brewers, as well as his worries for the first Red Sox game at the pub this Friday. Grab your headphones right now and pray for Plant Pub!HRN is home to transformative exchanges about food. Our 35+ member-supported food podcasts empower eaters to cultivate a radically better world. We sit down with three South Shore brewers to get the latest on the local craft beer scene. Joining Ally are Mike Dyer, co-owner of Untold Brewing in Scituate; Dino Funari, founder of Vitamin Sea Brewing in Weymouth; and Russ Heissner, founder of Barrel House Z also in Weymouth. Where do they get their inspiration? What beer makes them most proud? Is there an ingredient brewers are using that goes "too far" in the name of innovation? The men also weigh in on the sexual harassment allegations that tore through the craft brewing scene, first in Massachusetts and then quickly around the world, earlier this year. They share their candid responses and what changes they've made in their own breweries. It's a thoughtful conversation on the tight-knit South Shore brewing scene that continues to grow. Join us! “There's going to be an astounding number of setbacks. Your ability to deal with the setbacks and continue to move on is what's going to separate you from everyone else.”On this week's episode of the Eat Green Make Green Podcast I sit down with craft beer pioneer Russ Heissner. Russ is the Founder and Brewer of Barrel House Z, a craft brewery in Weymouth, MA. We talk about why Russ decided to attend one of the best fermentation science institutions in the world, UC Davis, as a young man, how he was hired by Harpoon Brewery and brewed the first ever Harpoon beer in his apartment in Brighton in the 80's, how he went on to help build over 50 breweries across the country, how he ended up at energy giant BP creating biofuels, the parallels between beer and alternative fuels, what led him back into the craft beer world, the starting and evolution of Barrel House Z over the past 5 years, what he recommends to entrepreneurs starting a business and raising capital, and how he's trying to make craft beer more sustainable. Russ is a rare talent, a friend, and an exceptional brewer and artist.Show NotesBarrel House Z WebsiteBarrel House Z InstagramRuss's InstagramRuss's Twitter

Circumstances have not allowed me to make a good summer for myself this year... My summer has been overcast by my own heaviness of spirit.
