Los Yankees están en caída libre…
Joe is solo for this episode as he begins discussing the worst week of the Yankee season, if they can turn it around, and if the Yankees will fire Aaron Boone at seasons' end (1:03). Then, he switches to the Mets, calls on Juan Soto to lead this team, and gives insight as to why the Mets are struggling, and why it may turn around soon (23:40), & SO much more!
Sal dove into his expectations for the Jets and Giants, sharing his excitement for the NFL season while fiercely dismissing excuses about their schedules. He touched on a wide range of topics, including the Jets' coaching staff dining at a restaurant he frequents and his cautious optimism for Justin Fields, despite his concerns about the quarterback's throwing ability. Sal also revisited his recent conversation with Mike Francesa, whom he considers a legend and friend, before enthusiastically sharing his plans to see the new Naked Gun movie, which he is very excited about. He rounded out the show with a passionate conversation on Mets' hitting, Frankie Montas's failures, and Juan Soto's unique place on the team.
Sal told Mets fans to pump the brakes on their panic, reminding them that despite a frustrating losing streak, the team is still comfortably in a playoff spot and only a couple of games out of first place. He argued that it's just a rough patch, not a sign that the entire season is lost. Sal reiterated his belief in the team's core of Francisco Lindor, Juan Soto, and Pete Alonso, stating that they will eventually get things turned around. The fiery host insisted that the pieces are in place and that the time for a full-blown meltdown is not now, but perhaps in October if the team fails to deliver.
Hour 4: Sal kicks off the last hour of the show taking calls on fantasy football, he Mets CF situation and more. Next, Sal discusses Juan Soto's new nickname, and we wrap up with Call of the Day, and Evan vs. Sal.
Hour 1: Football is back!! Sal is excited for the preseason games this weekend because the Jets and Giants will be getting a look into their future. We will see what an Aaron Glenn team looks like and how Jaxson Dart looks at the pro level. The Giants offense needs to be a lot better for them to win games, we know the defense will be good. Sal forgot to pay his parking meter, and Will the Giants be able run the ball? Hour 2: Big weekend for the Mets and Yankees against opponents that will really test them. Sal fears he got a ticket for not paying his parking. Rami went down to check if Sal got a parking ticket, and called in with the verdict. The Yankee flaws start with their lack of positional availability, can they beat the Astros this weekend? Hour 3: Audacy Betting Insider Nick Kostos is in studio to preview the NFL season. He is not high on the Giants. Nicks believes in the Jets and Aaron Glenn, but he knows Justin Fields stinks. Nick also goes around the league to share his best bets and fantasy picks for the NFL season. Hour 1: Evan is mad the Mets fans cheered for Gavin Williams after his near no-hitter at Citi Field. Evan one time bowled a 211 and no one was there to see it. Juan Soto has hit almost exclusively solo home runs this year, earning himself the nickname Juan "Solo". Hour 2: David Bednar was stretched as far as he's gone in over 3 years, and had he failed, it could have cost Aaron Boone his job. Boone trusted his gut, and Bednar and it worked out. Evan disagreed with Mike Francesca. What should the new Yankees relievers use as their entrance songs at Yankee Stadium? Hour 3: Aaron Glenn says the Jets are playing their starters in Week 1 of the preseason, the guys like it. Shaun says he will be level headed about the Giants this year (doubtful). Evan is mad that Kyle Wilson was invited to Jets camp. The Mets need a wake up from this haze. Hour 4: Cinco de Five-Oh - Shaun's top 5 things he wants to see in Jets preseason. Evan thinks Shaun was trolling the whole time. Can Evan and Tiki complete the 9-9-9 challenge? Shaun is sick of the lazy "run-differential" narrative as it relates to the Yankees. Shaun would be mad if Daniel Jones succeeds in Indianapolis. Sal Licata is up for an Emmy. And did Mike Francesca take a shot at Shaun Morash?

Sal Licata's "Call of the Day" focused on a caller's pessimistic take on Mets star Juan Soto. Sal passionately defended Soto, arguing that while his performance hasn't been perfect, he's a proven winner who has a World Series ring, unlike many of his teammates. Sal dismissed the caller's concerns about Soto's personality, stating he's a "freaking beast" and the one player he would bet on to turn things around and lead the team to success in the postseason. He challenged the notion that Soto is the problem, suggesting that the team's fortunes depend on the star slugger and that true fans should have faith in him.

New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor sits down with Rich Kleiman to talk about the pressure of playing in New York, the blockbuster addition of Juan Soto and his $756M contract, and why the Mets might finally be taking over the city.
Sal admits that Juan Soto's performance this year has been a personal disappointment, so much so that it's "crushed his soul." Despite the struggles and criticisms, Sal remains a true believer in Soto's talent. He holds firm in his conviction that Soto's greatness will eventually shine through, particularly in high-pressure situations or the postseason, and that the Mets have yet to see the true superstar they traded for.
Juan Soto provided the lone hit for the Mets today with a solo home run in the 9th inning. He spoke with the media about that at-bat, the team's offensive struggles, and how the team has to get better if they wish to compete for a World Series.
