What happens when you sit down with a songwriter who's done everything from early fan-funded records, to major-label pop, to K-pop, to sync, to teaching songwriting at Berklee - and ask him what really matters in the studio today?Bleu McAuley and I go deep into the intersection of creativity, workflow, sync licensing, AI, and staying inspired at a time when music creation is changing fast. We start with his early days in Boston, learning four-tracks and alternate tunings, following Ducky Carlisle around Room 9 From Outer Space, and eventually being pushed by producer John Fields to take a real swing in Los Angeles. Bleu talks about shaping his voice as a solo artist, capturing inspiration quickly, and why most of the battle in the studio is simply removing friction. We dig into sync: how commercial music is its own ecosystem, why high-dollar sync often has nothing to do with the pop charts, and how entire micro-genres exist only inside advertising. Bleu breaks down the difference between library production music and custom sync, how briefs actually work, what trends supervisors follow, and how studying commercial catalogs (not Spotify playlists) changes your instincts. He explains why inspiration disappears in moments, why setups must be instant, why inspiration beats fidelity, and how he builds his studio workflow - from synth routing to outboard to leaving drums mic'd up permanently - so artists never lose the spark. In the second half, we talk about AI's impact on music production and why it's already reshaping expectations, budgets, and the perceived value of human-created work. Bleu predicts that production music will be “decimated,” that executives are already asking “can't you just AI that?”, and why musicians must prepare for a world where non-AI work has to be obviously human. We talk cassette 4-track records, reel-to-reel inspiration, talent that shines through limitations, and why unique sonic imperfections may soon become a calling card. Bleu also breaks down vocal technique, why control matters more than range, and why producers should avoid technical talk during emotional takes. Finally, we look at career longevity, creative spaces, studio setup philosophy, and what advice he'd give his younger self (hint: invest early, learn piano, and chase control over perfection).Get access to FREE mixing mini-course: https://MixMasterBundle.comTHANKS TO OUR SPONSORS!http://UltimateMixingMasterclass.comhttps://usa.sae.edu/ https://www.izotope.com Use code ROCK10 to get 10% off!https://www.native-instruments.com Use code ROCK10 to get 10% off!https://www.spectra1964.comhttps://gracedesign.com/https://pickrmusic.com https://RecordingStudioRockstars.com/Academyhttps://www.thetoyboxstudio.com/Listen to the podcast theme song “Skadoosh!” https://solo.to/lijshawmusicListen to this guest's discography on Apple Music:https://music.apple.com/us/playlist/bleu-production-highlights/pl.u-KVXB2eLtm8P9MyIf you love the podcast, then please leave a review: https://RSRockstars.com/ReviewCLICK HERE FOR COMPLETE SHOW NOTES AT: https://RSRockstars.com/558

The American electoral foundation is shaking as reports of duplicate absentee ballots surface in key battlegrounds like Green Bay and Madison, Wisconsin. This episode dives deep into the administrative "errors" that skeptics argue are symptoms of a manufactured system designed to rob the will of the people. We examine the harrowing legal battle of patriot whistleblower Tina Peters, who remains imprisoned after uncovering alleged vulnerabilities in the voting machine matrix, while a "rotted" judicial system denies her basic motions for a fair hearing. From election integrity to the double standards of justice, we pull back the curtain on a political class that appears more interested in protecting its own power than the voices of the citizens it claims to represent. We are joined by Dr. Rich Guggenheim, an internationally recognized agricultural scientist and candidate for Colorado's State Senate District 25. Dr. Guggenheim shares his firsthand experience as a whistleblower facing disciplinary hearings for exposing the misuse of federal funds for DEI initiatives and discusses his relentless First Amendment battle against legislative "curation" of free speech. Later, we head to the streets of Philadelphia with activist John Allante McAuley. After being forcibly removed from a City Council meeting for opposing "ICE OUT" bills, McAuley breaks down the blatant violation of constitutional rights occurring in our urban centers and shares his mission to "Flip Philly Red" through raw, boots-on-the-ground engagement. This broadcast isn't just about identifying the problems; it's about the growing movement of Americans who refuse to be silenced by the manufactured chaos and division. We take a hard look at the "backstabbing" within the GOP, highlighted by Nancy Mace's revelations regarding the protection of radical figures, and contrast the treatment of patriots with those who profit from fraud and national disrespect. From the legislative halls of Denver to the council chambers of Philadelphia, the narrative is cracking. Watch as we expose the traps laid by the elite and empower you with the truth needed to reclaim accountability, representation, and the very soul of the nation.

Joe is dropping truth bombs. Nick Cannon and Amber Rose are saying out loud what millions of younger Americans are thinking. Both parties are captured by the same self-serving machine, and people are sick of it. While Lindsey Graham wanders Disney World alone with a bubble wand, the world burns: a partial DHS shutdown drags into its 46th day, gas and food prices are spiking, and new details emerge about pre-knowledge of Charlie Kirk's assassination. Meanwhile, Canada's Democrats argue over “gender equity cards” to skip the speaker line, and Pennsylvania Democrats quietly kill a Women's Month resolution the moment someone asks them to define “woman.” The script is broken, the old guard is compromised, and it's time to flip it.Then we welcome Philadelphia patriot John Allante McAuley, founder of the Flip Philly Red movement. John is taking the fight straight into one of the bluest, most corrupt cities in America: street corners, rallies, and online  to turn deep-blue Philadelphia red and prove that no city is beyond saving. He's built a fast-growing platform of over 20,000 followers by refusing to play nice with the globalist agenda, and he's dead serious when he says he's willing to “go out on his shield” for this country. Today he breaks down why he launched the movement, the pushback he's facing, and the real momentum he's already seeing on the ground. In the final block we turn to the absolute cesspool that is Colorado Republican politics. Joe lays out why he dropped his run for governor to challenge for state GOP chair, the chain-reaction attacks that followed from Sherronna Bishop, Tyler Sandburg, Victor Marx, and others, and the latest bombshell about Jena Griswold's former staffers accusing her of bullying, retaliation, and forcing NDAs. From captured leadership to infiltrated party structures, this episode makes one thing crystal clear: the old guard has to go. Whether it's Philly or Colorado, the American people are done being treated like slaves and idiots  it's time to flip the script for real.

Welcome back, my fellow creatives!Yup, I'm back to looking at the first five pages of various stories, for those five pages can make or break the engagement of a reader--or an agent. So, let's scope out the stories of others to see how they hook an audience! It's not often I see fake-outs in a book, but be damned if McAuley doesn't pull it off MULTIPLE TIMES in just half a dozen pages. The first line packs a punch: "Dragging a body through six inches of snow is even harder than I expected." A reader can make plenty of assumptions based on the first line, let alone the first page. We first meet the narrator the dead body of someone named Ben through the snow. At first, I thought she was dragging him to bury him in the wilderness, but then on the second page we learn she wants to get his body back to his family because he deserves a proper funeral...though what happened to him, we don't know, only that his chest is full of puncture wounds. But by the fourth page, Ben's body disappears to be replaced by a ghost addressing Hannah. And then Hannah wakes with Ben alive by her side. And then cold starts setting in with Ben interrogating her about his death. And then he vanishes, and Hannah is alone.McAuley deftly balances the immediate action of each page, whether it's hauling a carcass in the snow or a loving embrace with one's partner. The focus is on the moment, and because of that, readers are immediately digging for clues about what happened with Ben on the mountain and why they were there to begin with. Of course, one needn't give away the mystery so quickly, but it's fascinating for a ghost/dream version of the dead to ask the narrator what happened and she doesn't answer. Is she hiding it from ghost, or merely her own conscience? She's certainly doing a damn good job hiding it from the readers! So I guess I'd better keep reading to find out what happened. :)Let's see what next month's find will teach us, shall we?Read on, share on, and write on, my friends!

Do you hear voices in your head? I surely do. I believe that, as writers, we all experience this, with words pounding in our brains and screaming to be released. In the pages of my upcoming fully illustrated debut novel, "The Voices in Your Head," Geoff Hathaway not only hears voices, but he also sees them as they manifest before his eyes, telling stories while tormenting him. And you will see them too as you read through his shocking, disturbing, and mind-bending musings. From the perspective of a killer so to say. There are 37 illustrations from, in my opinion, the best horror artist out there – The Art of Dan Verkys, who also created the cover for this infernal realm. Featuring an incredible introduction from Sumiko Saulson, who prepares you for what is about to unfold, Voices has already received praise from some of the most highly-regarded professionals in the industry. I am so grateful for all of you. Publisher To Be Determined.“Utilizing prose, verse, and art, The Voices in Your Head offers a unique, hallucinatory trip into a spiraling nightmare of blood, pain, and madness."—Pedro Iniguez, Author of Synthetic Dawns & Crimson Dusks“Geoff Hathaway is plagued by insanity. Or demons. Or both. You won't know, but you will care. Jeff Oliver's powerful, gory, flesh-eating page-turner will keep you up all night, checking the doors and windows to your soul. This way madness lies. Be warned. And be there.”-- Anna Taborska, award-winning author ofFor Those Who Dream Monsters and Bloody Britain“Jeff Oliver is an inkwell of creativity, his ever-palpitating heart word-spilling without abandon onto the page."- Michael Bailey, multi-award-winning writer and editor“Jeff Oliver's debut novel is a tightly woven and gruesome tale of terror. A story I could not look away from until the very end. One that will remain with me for quite a while. Job well done! The wicked illustrations by Dan Verkys are a bonus!”~ Cindy O'Quinn, Bram Stoker Award winning authorJeff Oliver was born in Baltimore, Maryland on April 6th, 1982.Jeff began writing Dark Poetry at just 11 years old. Transferring darkness to paper at such a young age. There are thoughts about a troubled childhood, thoughts of love and imagination that never elude his pen.A poet by passion and a father of 8 beautiful children. His dedication to his family and his craft is second to none. Jeff lives in Western New York State. Jeff is a writer of intense emotions. His published books include Venomous Words Volume One: Macro-Photography by Gordon Reilly (Blurb). Strange Sounds (Self Published). Scattered Thoughts, Volumes I & II, Drops Of Insanity (Cosby Media Productions). New World Monsters was written by Chris McAuley with monstrous illustrations by Dan Verkys. (HellBound Books). Works in progress 'Dark Echoes Within Silence'. Illustrated by Dan Verkys with an introduction from Josh Malerman. New World Monsters: The Voices In Your Head and Dracula's Guests written with McAuley and illustrated by Verkys. Venomous Words Volumes 2, 3, and 4 with Macro-Photography by Gordon Reilly. In this forward-looking episode of the SCCM Podcast, Daniel F. McAuley, MD, explores how the clinical and research communities are rethinking acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), shifting from a one-size-fits-all model to a focus on identifying and targeting modifiable traits. Building on his Thought Leader Session at the 2024 Critical Care Congress, Dr. McAuley unpacks the major thematic shift toward precision medicine in critical care. Instead of treating ARDS as a single, homogenous condition, researchers are increasingly identifying biologically distinct subgroups—especially hyper- and hypoinflammatory phenotypes—that may respond differently to therapies. These insights are fueling a new generation of trials that aim to prospectively apply this knowledge to treatment strategies. Central to this evolution is the Precision medicine Adaptive platform Network Trial in Hypoaemic acutE respiratory failure (PANTHER), of which Dr. McAuley is a team member. PANTHER is a Bayesian adaptive platform randomized clinical trial studying novel interventions to improve outcomes for patients with acute hypoxemic respiratory failure. Designed to be adaptive and biomarker informed, PANTHER will test therapies such as simvastatin and baricitinib, based on real-time phenotyping of patients with ARDS. Throughout the episode, Dr. McAuley reflects on how advances in machine learning and biomarker identification are making precision treatment more feasible. He discusses the importance of maintaining evidence-based supportive care, such as lung-protective ventilation and prone positioning, while integrating new targeted therapies. Discover the latest investigations into potential therapeutic agents—including mesenchymal stromal cells, statins, and extracorporeal carbon dioxide removal—as Dr. McAuley aims to translate early findings into tangible improvements in patient outcomes. This episode offers critical insights into the changing landscape of ARDS research and patient care, as Dr. McAuley articulates a hopeful vision for the future—one in which targeted, individualized treatments can improve outcomes for patients with one of critical care's most challenging conditions. Dr. McAuley is a consultant and professor in intensive care medicine in the regional intensive care unit at the Royal Victoria Hospital and Queen's University of Belfast. He is program director for the  Medical Research Council/National Institute for Health and Care Research (MRC/NIHR) Efficacy and Mechanism Evaluation Program and scientific director for programs in NIHR.   Access Dr. McAuley's Congress Thought Leader Session, ARDS: From Treating a Syndrome to Identifying Modifiable Traits here.

Horror is punk.Though there seems to be a particular empathy between punk music and horror, the concern could be, if you were to collect a bunch of horror stories themed to punk rock songs, wouldn't they all just be the same thing - more or less? Not when William Sterling and his band of scribes get together, because one of my favorite things about this anthology is how unique of an approach each author took to the assignment. A particular standout is Liz Kerin's story Down By the Water (inspired by the PJ Harvey song?) In which a girl rebels against her controlling parent - which seems pretty foundational punk - only the whole story seems set on some fairy tale seaside community with witches and sea monsters (maybe). Such a creative approach to the theme of the book! There are fourteen more songs beside, and I'll let you discover them on your own. Suffice to say, I really enjoyed the book, and loved to have William Sterling and Brian McAuley on to give some insight into the book's inception through it's upcoming release.I'll plug once more ordering from one of the above links directly from Truborn.
