Murrow award for hard news reporting, Best Chattanoogan (2018, 2019, 2022), Chattanooga's Best Columnist/Reporter (2016, 2019-22), Chattanooga's Best TV Personality (2016, 2018-20), Lifetime Achievement Award from the Freedoms Foundation of Chattanooga, Tennessee School Bell Award for outstanding coverage of education, and the Beacon Award from the Georgia School Boards Association. His continuous years of broadcasting in Chattanooga are second only to the late Luther Masingill. David is the author of "Volunteer Bama Dawg," a collection of his humorous newspaper columns, "Chattanooga Radio and Television" a history of broadcasting in the Scenic City, and "Hello Chattanooga," which lists the famous entertainers, political figures, and athletes who have visited the Chattanooga area since 1900 (www.chattanoogaradiotv.com). Since publication of the books, David has spoken to hundreds of local clubs, civic groups and churches. His weekly newspaper column appears in 50 newspapers in Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama. His newest book "Hello Chattanooga! Famous People Who Visited the Tennessee Valley," is now available. Before embarking on his television news career, he was one of Chattanooga's top radio announcers, beginning at the legendary WFLI, and then hosting morning shows on WGOW and KZ-106, which he signed on the air. Since 2016 he has hosted a "stories behind the hits" show called "The Vinyl Express" on Chattanooga's Big 106.9 FM and big1069.com on Saturdays and Sundays from 12-2 p.m. Eastern time.
