Cathy Parker wears many different hats: mother, author, wife and football benefactor. She penned 2019’s “Northern Lights: One Woman, Two Teams, and the Football Field That Changed Their Lives” to remind us about the importance of community during impossibe odds. Northern Lights is the true story of a football mom in Florida whose call to help a high school team in Alaska changed the lives and hearts in both her own community and one far away above the Arctic Circle.
Have you ever had that idea put on your heart by God to do something and thought, "yes, I could do that" but in the next breath say "I probably shouldn't because I might fail or someone else is probably already doing it." We at EYF know what this is like and when you meet someone who took the idea that God put on their heart and actually ran with it you know you need to listen. Cathy Parker heard God and then did something a lot of people forget to do, she listened. Then she obeyed and the rest is the story of Northern Lights, the true field of dreams that God brought to Barrows Alaska through Cathy Parker. We encourage you to read her book and listen to the podcast several times as there are so many nuggets you'll have your own gold mine at the end.Cathy can be reached at www.beyondtheballfield.com and you can purchase her book there as well. This is a can't miss opportunity for you and a life changer if you ever thought that God had placed a dream on your heart.

Finalizing the series of interviews at the National Religious Broadcaster's Convention, Lee interviews Chuckie Perez, Cathy Parker, Jay and Sophia Lyons, and the trailer of the documentary, The Long Goodbye.
Cathy Parker was a bank employee, a wife, and a mother of 4 student athletes. She didn't have a lot of money, or power, and had ZERO knowledge of artificial athletic turf... but when her children called to her to watch a documentary about a town in the northern reaches of Alaska, struggling to keep kids safe, engaged, and in school, she took action! Cathy answered a whisper in her heart, which led to a whole lotta shouting on the sidelines! Her book, "Northern Lights" tells the story of how she was able to get an artificial athletic field, purchased, transported, and installed in a town with no roads in or out. And, how she changed countless lives in the process, but none so much as her own. Northern Lights was my book club pick for August - check it out on my web site - and join us for this inspiring episode of LOVE SOMEONE with Delilah! ~ Delilah Learn more about your ad-choices at https://news.iheart.com/podcast-advertisers

A stirring within her to help the Barrow Whalers football team in a struggling community in Barrow, Alaska, almost 4,000 miles away from her home in Jacksonville, Florida, started a nationwide movement that raised over half a million dollars to build an artificial-turf stadium for a team that needed it.
