Part Two of the Day of the Nonprofit Food Pantries: Elizabeth Becker of the Crowley House of Hope.
Most of us, as we encounter challenges with our loved ones, try to handle it by ourselves. But as time goes on, we often need more help—professional counseling, medical attention, interventions, spiritual guidance, and various kinds of programs.Today I'm chatting with Stefani Monn, who went through a program called House of Hope—the same one our son went through. Stefani is coming to tell us about her journey before, during and after those months. I heard her share a bit at a HOH event I attended—she said “House of Hope saved my life.”Judy's Resources:Listen to A House Called Hope Interview: https://tinyurl.com/mr3tyt59House of Hope Website: https://nationalhouseofhope.orgJoin the Prayer for Prodigals community here: https://bit.ly/3uyhSWQSign up for Judy's monthly newsletter here: https://bit.ly/39TBlYtPurchase a copy of the When You Love a Prodigal book for you or a loved one here: https://amzn.to/3RuiUx9Stay connected:Website: judydouglass.com/podcastFacebook: facebook.com/JudyDouglass417Instagram: instagram.com/judydouglass417Twitter: twitter.com/judydouglass417Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/judyddouglass/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/JudyDouglass

From drug dealing to community healing, Cheryl Beverly has turned her life around by surrendering to God and allowing Him to use her passion, empathy and experiences to heal the women and children of her community. Our original discussion with Cheryl was April 29, 2021. Now we discuss with Cheryl how she is bringing together the community by helping sponsor the Gus Macker 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament on the streets of downtown Chillicothe, Ohio during Macker's 50th anniversary. This will also help shine the light on the other work that Cheryl does in the community serving the less fortunate and providing transitional rehabilitation and housing for women 15 or older and their children.Cheryl's House of HopePrevious Podcast with Cheryl Cheryl Beverly About Gus Macker:Gus Macker Basketball is more than just a game; it's a celebration of basketball, community, and the spirit of competition.Founded in 1974 by Scott McNeal, the Macker tournament began as a small, backyard gathering of friends in Lowell, Michigan. It's "Hometown Heroes" on Family Life The House of Hope in Williamsport PA exists to help women overcome dependency, barriers, and challenges -- so they will move from a state of homelessness to thriving in the community through the transforming power of Jesus Christ. People using religious means to emotionally hurt and manipulate others is becoming a real concern in communities of faith. And the even more disturbing thing is that churches and faith leaders are turning a blind eye to it and are ill-equipped to handle it. This episode is a candid discussion with previous guest Rachel (Redman) Skidmore about how to address this and why the faith community needs to become a house of hope instead of a house of pain.
