Can goal attainment really be effortless? Yes! How? I'm sharing a science backed and real life proven strategy to, yes, attain your goals effortlessly with environment modification. Last week I told you to write everything down. Now what? Your Brain On Paper If you were a good lil student, you have started to write down all of your interruptive thoughts. Stop trying to remember everything, just write it down! Now you have all of these thoughts on paper, your brain on paper and you may be overwhelmed. The next step, is to decide can it wait till Sunday? If so, pop that baby into the Sunday Basket® for safe keeping until it can't wait. If not, add it to your to do list for the day. If you find you are always saying yes it can wait, but you don't have a lot of motivation to get it accomplished, it's ok to toss it. Our goals, energy, money, where we live, stage of family life, our house, and other factors change projects we want to do. You aren't going to get it all done because you aren't getting it all done now. Let yourself off the hook for projects you are not longer interested in finishing. Evolution of Systems Our families are ever changing and I was reminded of this during my grand-turnity. Abby had her baby and I am home more helping to take care of her and my grandsons. I don't cook. But I do make Thanksgiving dinner. I thought it would be nice to make until Greg pointed out that had I just asked Greg to do it, he would have. I abdicated cooking many years ago. Greg is used to cooking and didn't appreciate me taking up space in the fridge while the turkey defrosted. You see, back in the day saving money was the goal. My cooking and grocery shopping "reality" is from those days but our family has changed. I picked up a couple of turkeys while they were cheap around Thanksgiving knowing I'd be home after Abby had the baby. But I don't grocery shop or cook anymore. I could have saved a lot of my time and money had I just let Greg do it if I had just thought about today's reality of my family dynamics and roles. Ok the next thing to consider is your environment. First, do you still need the blender on the counter? You know it's not about the actual blender, it's just an appliance or thing you may have on the counter that you are no longer using. Smoothies may have been an everyday thing that is no longer. I moved ours to the basement, sometimes I forget, I should just pop a lil note inside the cupboard to remind me. I mean, no one is looking in my cupboards. Is your environment supporting your current goals? Could you modify your environment to better support your goals? Decluttering and Organizing Surfaces Thoughts I realized when I wanted to start adding collagen to my coffee that my environment was not set up to support my goals. I had about 9 steps to make my coffee, I'd get to my car and realize I had forgotten the collagen. If you are trying to lose weight, remove the cookies and put fruit in that same place. You can't eat what is not in your house. And you can't rely solely on willpower. AND it signals cues to your brain about your new goals. Science shows that when your environment is modified you can attain your goals effortlessly. As you realize what you want to modify you will need to declutter and organize that space. The Productive Home Solution may bring light to spaces you want to modify and it will walk you through the decluttering and functionality of that space. There is a caveat here. You will have more success if you have the foundation of the Sunday Basket® established because you will already be in the habit of writing down interruptive thoughts. I went through the thought process of setting up a coffee station. In moving things around, it brought to light the cup/bottle situation for my grandsons. I wrote things down and will take action on a Sunday. The time you spend modifying your spaces to match your goals will give back time to your future self. Then the systems you put in place will simply need to be maintained. The synergy between The Sunday Basket and The Productive Home Solution will have you saving time, cognitively offloading, gaining support for your goals and making better choices too! Hi Friends, Many of us can push ourselves to get things done: decluttering, cleaning, organizing, even life admin. And we often feel proud afterward. But then we don't come back to it! The motivation disappears, avoidance creeps in, and clutter slowly returns. In this episode, we unpack why that happens from a nervous system and psychological perspective, why pride isn't the same as sustainability, and how self-worth, self-criticism, and threat perception shape our ability to follow through. This conversation reframes productivity, motivation, and decluttering through the lens of safety, conservation, and regulation, not willpower.

Have you ever randomly felt the urge to clean out your closet… scrub your shower… reorganize a drawer… or deep clean a space that wasn't even on your to-do list? Same. In this episode, I'm sharing what I call The House Theory — the idea that the parts of your home you feel called to declutter, clean, or reorganize might be reflecting something deeper happening in your subconscious. We're talking about how our homes carry energy, how decluttering can be a form of moving meditation, and why this season (hello, Year of the Snake + Lunar New Year) feels like the perfect time to shed what's no longer meant to come with you. Plus: postpartum bras, dusty corners, and why I will absolutely never go commando. Ever. In this episode, we cover: Why I decluttered 27 bags and it still looks like nothing happened The connection between seasonal rhythms and our instinct to reset our homes How different rooms can represent different parts of your subconscious The symbolic meaning of spaces like basements, bathrooms, closets, and kitchens How cleaning can become a spiritual practice (without being weird about it) The Year of the Snake, shedding old energy, and making room for what's next How to use intention to create a real internal shift through external change If you've been feeling heavy, stuck, uninspired, or like you're craving a reset… this episode might be your sign to clear a corner and see what shifts. ___________________ Instagram post referenced in the episode. The caption reads: Wait til you hear my theory on how our homes represent our subconscious minds and each space represents something different within us.
What does the Bible have to say about minimalism? Turns out - quite a bit, although it may not seem like it at first glance. Joshua Becker's new book Uncluttered Faith: Own Less, Love, More, and Make an Impact in Your World, is centered around a bold claim. Minimalism - specifically what Jesus has to say about possessions and money - is God's design for our life. The book dives into Scripture passages that point to numerous spiritual benefits that you can experience through minimalism, to allow you to reach your full potential and impact in the Kingdom of God. In this episode, Joshua and I talk about: - Why the American Church hasn't focused more on the message of minimalism, specifically when it comes to Jesus' clear teachings on our relationship with money and material possessions - How our fruitfulness has been choked out by consumerism and distraction - How minimalism helps us enjoy the benefits of God's spiritual kingdom Joshua is the founder and editor of Becoming Minimalist, a website dedicated to intentional living that was named by SUCCESS Magazine as one of the top ten personal development websites. He is also the USA Today and WSJ best-selling author of 6 books including The Minimalist Home, The More of Less, and Things That Matter. His new book, Uncluttered Faith, will be released on February 10, 2026. He is also the Founder of The Hope Effect, a nonprofit organization changing how the world cares for orphans. Currently, he lives in Peoria, AZ with his wife and two teenage children.
What if the "cliche" New Year habits everyone rolls their eyes at are actually the exact things that will make 2026 your best year yet?In this episode, I'm breaking down the habits I'm actually committing to this year to be hotter, healthier, and happier, and trust me, they work. We're talking about:Making your health non-negotiable (yes, even when life gets crazy)Letting joy guide your work instead of hustling yourself into the groundMinding your business to protect your peace (because other people's drama is not your problem)Decluttering your life so you can actually breatheActing on good ideas fast before your brain talks you out of itManifesting like it's your full-time jobImportant Links: Join PowerFemme Social HERESubscribe to GLOCI - the Skincare routine you can drink!(code POWERFEMME saves 15%)Shop our favorite Dolce Dew skincare products(code POWERFEMME saves 15%)

Text your thoughts and questions! In honor of a huge milestone —10 years of the business behind the podcast—I am reflecting on the last 10 years and the conversations I've had with clients, listeners, and my fellow multi-passionate entrepreneurs. So today in episode 299 of the Positively LivingⓇ Podcast, instead of focusing on one topic, I'm celebrating by sharing 10 lessons of positive productivity that I've learned over the last decade. In this episode of the Positively LivingⓇ Podcast, I'm focusing on 10 lessons that connect to the same theme: productivity isn't a one-size-fits-all approach. You must find what works for you and honor that. The 10 lessons I cover in this episode include: Productivity is personal, not universal. Fluctuating energy is normal. Plan for it. Good enough beats perfect. Decluttering is a whole-life practice.Rest is not a reward; it's a requirement. Joy fuels productivity. Shame is the worst motivator. Systems don't need to be complicated. Let the season you're in guide your choices. Start where you are, grow as you go. I want to celebrate with you! Find me on social media and message me, sharing what you're celebrating today—big or small—and if this episode resonated with you, please leave a review on Apple Podcasts or a rating on Spotify to help others join this important conversation. You want to declutter, but you're standing in the middle of your home thinking, Where on earth do I begin? You're not alone. Even when it's obvious a space needs attention, knowing where to start can feel surprisingly overwhelming.Instead of searching for the perfect starting point, focus on momentum. Decluttering doesn't begin with emptying an entire room, buying containers, or consuming endless inspiration. It begins with one small, doable action.Explore three simple ways to start without overthinking. First, you learn how powerful it can be to grab just one bag and fill it — either with rubbish or donations. One bag creates a clear finish line and instant momentum. You also learn why organising won't solve clutter if the quantity stays the same, and how reducing what you own is always the first step.Next, you're encouraged to choose a single, low-emotion category to declutter. Not a whole room — just one contained category like towels, DVDs, clothes that no longer fit, or reusable shopping bags (yes, you probably have too many). Smaller categories mean faster wins and less decision fatigue. Finally, learn how to start with a habit instead of a project. By placing a donation bag somewhere visible and committing to one item per day, decluttering becomes part of everyday life rather than another overwhelming task.Remember that regret is rarely about letting go — it's usually about waiting too long. Progress matters more than perfection, and freedom comes from simply starting.Join my free 5 Day Wardrobe Challenge if you're wanting to get startedYou may also like to listen to these episodes:5 Home TruthsConfirmation BiasJoin my communityLeave a 5 Star Google ReviewFollow me on InstagramFollow me on FacebookJoin my Facebook groupThank you to my sound engineer, Jarred from Four4ty Studio Hosted on Acast. Clutter is often treated like a motivation problem but what if it's really a systems problem?
In this episode we're settling into that long, liminal stretch between Imbolc and Ostara. The snow is still hanging around, the days are technically getting longer but it doesn't always feel like it, and seasonal cranky shut in disorder is very real. This is a quiet and often deeply cold time of the year, where hope flickers but hasn't fully taken shape yet. That's exactly why we're focusing on everyday magick. The simple, doable, low effort kind that helps you keep going when getting out of bed already feels like a heroic act.We share some of our favorite mundane spells that gently weave magic into the rhythm of daily life. Morning candle work for setting one small intention. Decluttering spells that help reset the energy of your space when the vibes are off. Bag and wallet magic to make room for abundance. Even the humble act of making your bed becomes a spell for nervous system care, protection, and coming home to yourself at the end of the day. This isn't about doing everything. It's about doing one thing with presence.Chelle also brings forward a tarot thread she's been holding for this season, a simple and reflective way of working with the cards as we move from Imbolc's inward spark toward Ostara's outward growth. Think less pressure, more conversation with the cards. Tarot as companion, not assignment. We also talk about how to work magic with your houseplants during this time of year. From tending them as living spell anchors to using them as allies for growth, renewal, and intention setting, especially when the outside world is still frozen. Your plants know spring is coming, even if the ground hasn't caught up yet. There's wisdom there. This episode is for anyone who feels tired, restless, or quietly hopeful. For witches who want to stay connected without burning themselves out. For those of us who need reminders that small rituals matter, and that light returns slowly, but it does return. So grab your tea, check in with your plants, and come sit with us for a bit. We're getting through late winter together, one simple spell at a time.Got a question? Send the witches a message here!Support the showWant to send us a letter? It's January—the season of clean closets, organized drawers, and freshly emptied garages. In this episode, Bob 'n Joyce look beyond the annual cleanup ritual to ask a more interesting question: Does decluttering actually change anything, or does it just make us feel productive for a while? Yes, clearing clutter feels good. It can be energizing and even cathartic. But as we explore, the real value of decluttering—whether in our personal lives or in organizations—doesn't come from an occasional burst of cleaning. It comes from making decluttering a deliberate, ongoing practice. When clutter builds up—physical, mental, or organizational—it often goes unnoticed until it slows us down or gums up the system. Done well, decluttering releases energy, sharpens focus, and clears the way for a fresh start by helping us see what truly matters. Some takeaways from today's conversation: • Decluttering feels good, but it can also postpone work on what matters most. • One-time cleanups offer short-term relief; the benefits rarely last. • A daily cadence of doing just two things that genuinely make a difference may be far more powerful than an occasional cleanup surge. Individuals and organizations both benefit from clearing the clutter that slows them down. The challenge is that clutter often hides in plain sight. For leaders and OD practitioners, the work is learning to see it—and engaging people in periodically clearing the air so real progress can happen. So let's get to it. Come on in. Grab a snack. Welcome.

Do you ever find yourself standing in a store, holding something pretty, and wondering if you should bring it home? Or maybe you're staring at a cluttered counter, feeling overwhelmed but unsure where to start? What if there was a way to make every home decision easier—before you even have to make it? In this episode of Clutter-Free Academy, Kathi Lipp and brand manager Tenneil Register continue their conversation about creating a "brand" for your home. This isn't about logos or marketing—it's about intentionally deciding in advance what you value so that every future decision practically makes itself. What You'll Discover in This Episode If you've been struggling to maintain an organized home or find yourself constantly second-guessing purchases and decisions, this episode offers a practical framework that will change everything. Kathi and Tenneil walk through 10 pre-decisions that form the foundation of your home brand: Your season – Understanding what phase of life you're in right now Your three vibe words – The feelings you want your home to evoke What you're NOT – Clarifying what kind of household you don't want to be A simple color palette – Creating visual flow throughout your space Your style sentence – Connecting your words to your purpose Your shopping filter – Four questions to ask before any purchase Your landing pad – Where real life meets intentional living Your surfaces policy – Which spaces stay clutter-free no matter what A calendar rule – Protecting your peace through boundaries Your weekly reset ritual – How to maintain your brand week after week The Four-Question Shopping Filter One of the most powerful tools shared in this episode is the shopping filter. Before bringing anything new into your home, ask: Does it fit the vibe? Does it fit the palette or style? Do we have a home for it? Does it reduce effort or add effort? If you get a yes to all four, move forward. If any answer is no, pause on that decision. Key Takeaways Creating a home brand isn't about perfection—it's about progress. As Tenneil reminds listeners, "A brand is ever being made. It's always being worked on. It's not a one and done." The goal is to enjoy the process of establishing, creating, and adjusting your brand as you go. Start with your three vibe words, then pick just three items from the list of ten pre-decisions. Let your home brand develop slowly over time, and watch how much easier every decision becomes.

Decluttering often gets stuck right at the end. Here's why that happens and how to finally move things out without more stress. You've sorted. You've made decisions. You've created space. And yet things are still sitting there. Bags by the door. Piles waiting to leave. Boxes that never quite make it out of the house. Why does decluttering stall at the final step? And how do you finally get things out of your house without adding more stress? In this episode, I talk about why decluttering so often stops right before the finish line and what actually helps you move past that point in a way that feels intentional and realistic. But this episode isn't just about strategies. It's also about real people and real progress.I'm sharing wins from inside my community, from my online membership, and from conversations I've had on Instagram and Facebook. The quiet wins. The ones that don't always look dramatic, but completely change how a home feels.I'm also answering questions people have asked me and coaching through the things they're stuck on. The kind of questions that come up again and again, because no one is ever struggling alone. If you've decluttered but still feel surrounded by clutter, this episode is for you.If you're organizing and tidying the same spaces again and again, this episode will help.If you want declutter strategies that work for real life and real family homes, you're in the right place. We're talking about home organization that supports your energy, not drains it.About organizing systems that help you overcome overwhelm instead of adding to it.And about creating intentional organization that works with your family, not against them.Because decluttering isn't just about letting go of stuff. It's about changing how your home functions day to day.Are you doing all the work but skipping the final step? What would change if clutter actually left your house for good?If you'd like to ask me a question for a future episode or share a win, you can connect with me here:CLICK HERE FOR Instagram CLICK HERE FOR FacebookYou're also very welcome to join my free Facebook group, where we talk about decluttering, organizing, tidying, and creating a calmer home together:And if you'd love ongoing support with decluttering, organization, and staying consistent, you can join Clutter Free Collective, my online membership. Hey Clutterbugs! Decluttering motivation, cleaning tips, and how to stop perfectionism paralysis—today I'm breaking down why you feel stuck in clutter and how to finally get your home organized. If you're overwhelmed by mess, doom piles/doom boxes, clutter anxiety, or you keep procrastinating because it won't be “perfect,” this episode will help you start (and finish) in just 5 minutes.Today we're talking about radical exposure to “good enough” (aka doing it a little messy on purpose) so you can break the perfectionism cycle and actually make progress. Because “later, when I can do it right” is how clutter wins.I'm also sharing what happened during our Take Your House Back all-day declutter live… including the moment I totally hit a wall emotionally. But the real point of this episode isn't the tears, it's the breakthrough: the reason so many of us stay stuck isn't laziness, it's the fear of doing it wrong. The Year of the Snake is a time for reflection, shedding old patterns, and preparing for a major reset. Setting intentions in your space—through objects, layouts, or symbolic items—amplifies your goals. The upcoming Fire Horse year brings high energy, action, and leadership opportunities; preparation and mindful planning are key. About Shannon Bailey: Shannon Bailey, Founder of Fierce Feng Shui, has been telling people where to put it for over thirty years. Specializing in applying Western Feng Shui principles to homes, businesses and outdoor landscaping, Shannon has even done websites and virtual environments. She draws wisdom and inspiration from Western and Chinese Astrology, the I Ching, myth and symbolism across many cultures. After starting her career in the Midwest, she moved to the Bay Area for a decade and has now returned to Kansas City to play with flowers, dig in the garden, remodel old homes with her husband and tell him where to put it. Shannon, her husband, and 7 kitties (4 kitties moved in from outside) all reside in a 1908 Kansas City shirtwaist that was purchased pre-gutted, but had an amazing porch. The remodel has been slow, dusty, expensive, and exhilarating. The cats haven't been much help. Shannon is available for teaching classes and workshops, private consultations and Chinese Astrology. When you hear the word support, it's easy to picture reliance — someone stepping in and doing things for you. But in decluttering, good support does the opposite. It builds independence. You're invited to rethink what independence actually means: it's not about doing everything alone. It's about knowing how to decide, knowing where things belong, and knowing how to reset a space when life inevitably gets messy again. Decluttering isn't a personality trait or something you're born with — it's a set of skills you can learn.Getting support doesn't mean you can't do it yourself. Often, it means you're choosing to learn faster, with guidance that suits your brain, your home, and the season of life you're in. Just like working with a Pilates instructor, the right support helps you make progress without having to figure out every step on your own. You'll explore why trust plays such a critical role in building independence. Sometimes progress happens quickly, and other times it takes time, repetition, and reassurance. Real-life stories show how trust leads to engagement, skill-building, and growing confidence — whether you're working with a client, a child, a partner, or yourself. You'll also reflect on what can unintentionally undermine independence, including rushing, taking over, or creating “perfect” spaces without teaching how to maintain them.If you don't feel independent yet, this is your reminder: nothing is wrong with you. You're still learning. With the right support, independence is absolutely possible — and it grows one skill at a time. You may also like to listen to these episodes:Hidden EmotionsSpoon TheoryJoin my communityLeave a 5 Star Google ReviewFollow me on InstagramFollow me on FacebookJoin my Facebook groupThank you to my sound engineer, Jarred from Four4ty Studio Hosted on Acast. When life feels loud, getting rid of stuff can feel like relief. But if the stuff keeps coming back, the real issue is usually what the purchases were trying to solve in the first place. So this is an episode about what to ask yourself before you fill the donation bags. We're talking about materialism as a pattern and what happens when your things stop just being “things”. Kiersten gets personal about why decluttering has always worked for her and why she finally realized it was only half the story. We get into: Why decluttering can feel like regulation and why that doesn't mean it fixes the real issueThe difference between materialism, consumerism, and decluttering so you can name what's actually happeningHow “reset energy” turns into a cycle where you purge, feel lighter, reward yourself, and rebuild the messWhat it looks like when you buy things to feel prepared even when the situation never comesThe water bottle problem and why upgrades become a substitute for behaviorThe planner and journal trap and how marketing sells “this will change your life” in book formWhy organizing products can be emotional purchases disguised as practical onesA simple solution that works: move items out of sight and see what you miss versus what you just like having availableHow attachment creates decision fatigue because every item turns into a guilt conversationThe shift that actually helps Future YouOur perspective on freedom and why being too attached to stuff can quietly trap your options Connect with Julien and Kiersten on our website, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.Join our email list to get updates from us, opportunities for discounts, freebies and a quick rundown on the relevant financial and career news impacting your life.
