The position of precinct chair is generally the party job closest to the actual action: meeting, motivating, and mobilizing the voters themselves, who happen to be your neighbors and friends! If you're a regular Progress Texas listener, you already know most of what you need to know to effectively fill this position. Many districts, in just about every corner of Texas, have vacancies in this vital grassroots role - leaving those voters without anyone to personally guide and inspire them. If you're fired up, and looking to step up and really make a difference, this is the perfect opportunity at a crucial political moment.Learn more about becoming a precinct chair for the Texas Democratic Party at https://www.traviscountydemocrats.org/precinctchair.Thanks for listening! Jesus said he wanted us to make disciples. Inviting friends and acquaintances to come to church is a great way to get in the game. After all, Christianity is really helpful with major problems people are struggling with today. Matthew 28:19-20 Jesus commissioned the church to make disciples of all nations. This is the “game”. Are you in it or on the bench? Five Problems that Christianity Helps With 1. Plunging Birthrates (Gen 1:28; Prov 17:6; Mark 10:13-14) 2. Addiction (John 8:34-36; Rom 6:5-8; 1 Cor 10:13) 3. Choosing an Identity (Luke 9:23; John 10:27-28) 4. Loneliness (Isa 41:10; 1 John 1:3; 1 Cor 12:25-26) 5. Meaninglessness (John 3:16; Psalm 73:25-26; Eph 2:8-10) Harvard's Human Flourishing Program: “A considerable body of research has suggested that religious service attendance powerfully affects health and also affects other aspects of flourishing such as meaning in life, character, and close social relationships. Specifically, research has indicated that those who attend religious services at least weekly are about 30% less likely to die over a 10- to 20- year follow-up, are about 30% less likely to become depressed, and are over five times less likely to commit suicide …. Other evidence suggests that religious service attendance is associated with subsequently greater meaning in life, greater social connection and social support, and a 30% to 50% reduction in divorce. I believe it is a great idea for us followers of Christ to make it a practice to be present where people gather with the express purpose of seeing what God might do.

God desires kids and students to know and worship Him. The harvest is plentiful! And if we are willing, we can perpetuate this gospel legacy, showing the next generation who their true Savior is.
P.S... You Can!
In Get in the Game, Pastor Travis of Impact Church delivers a rallying cry that ignites hope and purpose. Through vivid stories of devastation and redemption—from standing amid the ashes of wildfire-stricken communities to witnessing the life-changing power of serving others—he paints a cinematic picture of what it means to step off the sidelines and into the action of God's work. Drawing inspiration from Isaiah 43:2 and the story of the Good Samaritan, Pastor Travis calls us to develop a heart that aches for the broken and to become the hands and feet of Jesus in a world desperately in need of healing. This is more than a sermon; it's an invitation to embrace a life of service, to be the answer to someone's prayers, and to witness the miraculous as we live out our faith. With passion and purpose, Get in the Game dares you to dream bigger, serve boldly, and experience the thrill of making an eternal impact.

Whether you realize it or not, you've been honing your talents and gifts since childhood. When it's “game time,” God will guide you to use them. Like a GPS recalculating when you veer off course, God helps you course-correct toward your destination, even if the journey becomes longer and harder. This episode is family-only as Rachel, Jasmine and Amanda tell us all about their amazing week at the DNC. In fact, they agreed that "amazing" doesn't even begin to capture how exciting and uplifting last week was.The joy was palpable, and we heartily reject a recent New York Times headline that "joy isn't a strategy." Joy IS a strategy. Hope and joy got us Obama. Fear might be a motivator as old as time, but extremists can only lie so many times before people realize they're being manipulated. But our joy is more than an emotion - we have actual policy strategies to go with it. It's no wonder that the US is typically polled as one of the least happy nations. It's hard to be happy when you're constantly stressed about medical bills, housing, grocery prices, and access to reproductive care. VP Harris, Coach Walz, and all of the other incredible speakers at the DNC drew the direct connection between their joy and their policies. But we can't just sit back and hope that joy magically delivers us an election. We need to work. Democracy is a team sport and we can't stay on the bench - we have to lace up our shoes and get in the game. There's less than 70 days now until the election, so let's make every one count. One thing you can do right now is join Rally! Rally is a simple way for you to talk to your friends and family about the importance of this election.Next week we'll be taking a short break for Labor Day and instead, we'll have another amazing limited series to share with you. It's called Sacred Politics and it's produced by the same women who brought us The Cost of Extremism last year. Sacred Politics will discuss the dangers of Christian Nationalism, so be sure to tune in to this 3-episode series. For a transcript of this episode, please email theswppod@redwine.blue. Continuing our series about Flipping The Kill Switch, we're talking to Jesse Stallings of Louisiana. This series truly is about regular folks who have seen a sudden influx in success, and we want to find out how. After a few years of consistency, it's safe to say someone has something figured out. Like many of us, Jesse's journey brought him to scouting more than you hunt, and putting himself IN the game even when odds are stacked against him. There's something to be said for just walking when you don't know what to do. Not seeing deer? Just walk. Not finding sign? Keep walking. It's a simple concept, yet even mobile hunters get into the routine of hunting the same tree over and over. For Jesse, the flip switched started when he kicked that routine to the curb and just kept pounding ground until he finally started putting pieces together. For so many, hunting turns into a spectator sport when it's meant to be experienced in the middle of the action! This is going to be a continued theme for us this summer. If you've got a "Kill Switch Moment" you think other hunters would find value in, send us a message on Fb or IG and share it with us!
