This week on Inside the Headset we are featuring Virginia Tech Head Coach, Justin Fuente's general session speech from the 2017 AFCA Convention in Nashville, Tennessee. Coach Fuente shares the importance of developing your players on and off the field, the crucial role strong leadership on your team, and what it means to be committed rather than involved. Coach Fuente was named Virginia Tech’s head coach in November of 2015, after a monumental resurrection of the football program at the University of Memphis (2012-15). In his final two seasons at Memphis, Fuente compiled a 19-6 record, guiding the Tigers to back-to-back bowl berths after inheriting a program that went 5-31 in three years before his arrival. Prior to Memphis, Fuente was the Co-Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach (2009-11) and Running Backs Coach (2007-08) at Texas Christian University. During his final three seasons as play caller, QBs Coach and Co-Offensive Coordinator at TCU, the Horned Frogs produced a 36-3 overall record and went on a 24-game win streak in the Mountain West Conference. Fuente began his coaching career at Illinois State, initially holding the position of Quarterbacks Coach (2001-03) and then getting promoted to Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach in 2004. Welcome to Blacksburg! The members of Virginia Tech's 2017 recruiting class have officially signed their letters of intent to play football for the Hokies. Pete and Robbie discuss the key commitments, provide analysis on the class as a whole, and even attempt some film review. Overall, it's a very exciting group of recruits; a handful of players could have key roles right away for Coach Fuente. The guys also go over the 2017 schedule and give their early predictions on next year's record. Is Robbie actually optimistic? Find out on the first episode of season three of Two Deep!

That sound you hear is the Hokies crashing back down to earth. After three impressive wins in a row, VT had a real clunker of game, losing to Syracuse 31-17. After recapping what went wrong, Pete and Robbie put lipstick on a pig suggesting that this loss can be used for motivation going into Miami. Let's hope that Coach Fuente and the boys agree with that. A HUGE Thursday night game awaits this team on a short week. Can the Hokies pick up the pieces and remain in the driver's seat for the Coastal?! Here's hoping.

The Hokies took care of business against Liberty and moved to 1-0. Robbie and Pete break down the win, and then get you ready for the long-awaited match-up in Bristol vs. the Vols. While both guys like VT against the spread, they don't agree on the outcome. This game is huge in every sense; hopefully, Coach Fuente has Tech ready for the big stage.

Beamer Ball is now more and Coach Fuente appears poised to return the Hokies back to their rightful place amongst the nations elite. Fuente worked magic with less, and with the cupboard far from bare, the Hokies have the weapons to make the offense explosive once again.
