Book of Jonah, Pt. 1 – Running From God's PresenceJonah 1:1–17 | King's Chapel Live StreamJonah's story begins not with obedience, but with a prophet on the run. God called Jonah to go to Nineveh, but Jonah ran the other way—to Tarshish, away from the presence of the Lord.In this opening chapter, we see that running from God is always futile and dangerous, but turning to Him is life-giving and full of grace. Even in Jonah's disobedience, God is sovereign, merciful, and just—using storms, sailors, and even a great fish to draw His servant back.Jonah 1 reminds us that there is a Jonah in all of us. We resist, we wander, and yet God pursues us with relentless mercy. His grace meets us even when we run, inviting us back to life and faith in Him.If you've ever found yourself running from God or struggling to trust His call, this message will remind you that His love is greater than your distance.Connect with King's Chapel in Longwood, FL- ▶️ www.kingschapelfl.com▶️ https://www.facebook.com/KingsChapelfl▶️ https://www.instagram.com/kingschapelfl/For the GLORY of our Great GodFor the GOOD of our NeighborJonah sermon, running from God sermon, King's Chapel Longwood FL, Jonah 1 Bible study, God's mercy in Jonah, reluctant prophet Jonah, Jonah and the great fish, book of Jonah explained, God's sovereignty and mercy, gospel and obedience, turning back to God
For Scott Abell, coming to Longwood in the fall of 1988 was an easy decision. Former Longwood Baseball coach Buddy Bolding made him an offer he could not refuse. In his four-year career, the Lancer catcher compiled a .336 batting average and led the Lancers to the final four of the 1991 NCAA Division II CWS. Shortly after graduation, he reunited with his first love, football. After coaching high school and college teams to conference and state championships, he is in his first year as the Dunlevie Family head coach at Rice University in Houston TX.
Known at Longwood as Billy Dunn (Class of '91), William's story is one of the ages. Growing up in challenging neighborhoods, he defied the odds and earned his Associates, Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate while fueling his passion for philanthropy. As founder of the Dunn Foundation, William received the President's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2024 for his community outreach in Southern California and Metro Washington DC.

Paul tells us to love our neighbor as ourselves, showing that true love fulfills the law. Romans: Transforming Power of the Gospel, Pt. 23 – Obeying AuthorityRomans 13:1–7 | King's Chapel Live StreamRomans 13:1–7 calls us to wrestle with a challenging question: how do we live faithfully under human authority while remembering that God is the ultimate authority?Paul reminds us that every position of power is given by God. History itself is His story with a beginning, a turning point at the cross, and an ending point when Christ returns. Because of this, we are called to honor God as we live under earthly rulers, giving what is owed to Caesar, to God, and to our neighbor. This passage does not dismiss the reality of injustice or the brokenness of human authority. But it does point us back to the sovereignty of God and to a life that trusts Him above all.If you have ever wondered how to live out your faith in a world of governments and systems, Romans 13 will help you see how the gospel transforms our perspective on authority.Connect with King's Chapel in Longwood, FL- ▶️ www.kingschapelfl.com▶️ https://www.facebook.com/KingsChapelfl▶️ https://www.instagram.com/kingschapelfl/For the GLORY of our Great GodFor the GOOD of our NeighborRomans 13 sermon, obeying authority in the Bible, God and government, King's Chapel Longwood FL, Romans Bible study, Christian view of authority, Paul letter to the Romans, ultimate authority is God, giving to Caesar and to God, gospel and obedience, biblical authority explained

Romans: Transforming Power of the Gospel, Pt. 20 – Living SacrificesRomans 12:1–2 | King's Chapel Live StreamRomans 12 opens with one of the most life-changing calls in the entire Bible. Paul urges us to present our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God.This call is not about rules or rituals. It is about responding to the mercy of God shown at the cross. Because of what Jesus has done for us, our whole lives are meant to be an offering of worship.Living as a sacrifice means refusing to be shaped by the values of the world. Instead, we are to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. A renewed mind begins to see the world through the truth of Scripture. It helps us discern the will of God and live it out with confidence. This message reminds us that true worship is not just about what we sing on Sunday but how we live every day. Romans: Transforming Power of the Gospel, Pt. 18 – God's Plan for IsraelRomans 11:1–32 | King's Chapel Live StreamRomans 11 raises some of the biggest questions in Scripture. Has God rejected His people Israel? Has their stumbling meant failure? And what does their story mean for us today?Paul answers with hope. God has not rejected His people. He has always kept a faithful remnant saved by grace. Israel's stumbling has even opened the door for the nations to receive the blessing of the gospel. At the center of it all stands Jesus, the true Israel, the promised seed of Abraham, the beloved Son, and the true Vine.In this message, we look at the mystery of God's plan for Israel and His promise that all who believe in Christ, both Jew and Gentile, are brought into His family. Romans: Transforming Power of the Gospel, Pt. 17 – The Way of SalvationRomans 10:1–21 | King's Chapel Live StreamWhat does the Bible actually say about how to be saved? Romans 10 gives one of the clearest, most hope-filled answers you will ever hear.Paul writes with deep love for his people; longing for them to know the truth about Jesus. He explains that salvation is not about working harder, following more rules, or trying to make ourselves right with God. It's about receiving the righteousness of Christ as a gift. The message is so simple yet so profound:Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord.Believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead. And you will be saved. This promise is for everyone - no matter your past, your failures, or where you come from. In this passage, Paul also shows us God's heart for the lost and the way the gospel spreads: God sends His people, they share the good news, others hear, they believe, and they call on the name of the Lord.If you've ever wondered how to explain salvation to someone or needed to be reminded of the beauty and simplicity of the gospel, this message will encourage you and renew your passion to share it.Connect with King's Chapel in Longwood, FL- ▶️ www.kingschapelfl.com▶️ https://www.facebook.com/KingsChapelfl▶️ https://www.instagram.com/kingschapelfl/For the GLORY of our Great GodFor the GOOD of our Neighbor

It is all grace. In this message, we look at the beauty and mystery of God's sovereign choice. We are reminded that salvation is not something we earn or deserve. It is God's work from beginning to end. He is both just and merciful. He chooses freely and graciously. In this episode of Longwood GradCast: Beyond the Degree, host Dr. Sarah Tanner-Anderson sits down with Daija Fowler, a speech-language pathologist whose journey from psychology major to Communication Sciences and Disorders leader highlights the power of purpose, mentorship, and professional reinvention.Daija traces her path back to her undergraduate days at UNC Greensboro, where a shift in academic focus—and a few pivotal conversations with her mom and a childhood friend—led her to discover a calling in Communication Sciences and Disorders. That moment of clarity set her on a path toward Longwood University, where she pursued her Master's degree in speech-language pathology.A first-generation college student, Daija speaks openly about the challenges she faced navigating graduate school applications, tuition costs, and the weight of doing it all without a roadmap. But it was at Longwood where she found her footing—and her voice. As a graduate assistant in the CSD department, Daija stepped into roles that demanded precision, organization, and adaptability. With the mentorship of faculty like Dr. King, she not only helped run the behind-the-scenes operations of the clinic but also developed a deeper appreciation for the profession she was preparing to enter. Now working full-time in the school system, Daija reflects on her transition from private practice to public education while maintaining her original clients in an after-school capacity. From the nerves of her first interviews to the satisfaction of helping students meet their communication goals, Daija shares how each stage of her journey has deepened her confidence and commitment. Her passion for augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and fluency—specialties she didn't expect to fall in love with—demonstrates the value of staying open to new possibilities.Throughout the episode, Daija shines a light on the often-overlooked complexities of the SLP role. From diagnostics to collaboration with classroom teachers, she makes it clear that speech-language pathology is about far more than “teaching kids to talk.” It's about connection, growth, and giving students the tools to be heard.A standout moment in the conversation is Daija's tribute to the mentors who helped shape her: Dr. King, Dr. Wallace, and Dr. Walker. Their belief in her potential fueled her drive and underscored the lifelong impact of supportive academic relationships. As she looks ahead, Daija's considering ways to share her story more broadly—possibly through a YouTube channel—to support others navigating the early stages of their SLP careers. Describing her journey in three words—authentic, adaptable, creative—Daija's story is one of resilience, resourcefulness, and the courage to grow beyond expectations.Subscribe now to hear more powerful stories from Lancers making a difference beyond the degree—and follow us to stay connected: Facebook: @longwoodgraduatestudies Instagram: @longwoodgradstudies Twitter: @longwoodcgps YouTube: @longwoodgradstudies Website: www.Longwood.edu/Gradprograms

Romans: The Transforming Power of the Gospel, Pt. 14 – The Golden Chain to GloryRomans 8:28–30 | King's Chapel Live StreamIs God really working all things for good, even when life doesn't feel good?In this message from Romans 8:28–30, we're reminded of one of the most comforting promises in all of Scripture. And even when we don't know what to pray, the Spirit of God is already praying for us.
