From sales to coach, not only a coach, but a GREAT one. Coaching football made Calvin feel so fulfilled. Calvin lost both his grandparents within one week of each other. A conversation he had with his uncle shortly after changed the trajectory of his career. Today's episode is encouragement to quit chasing titles and do what God has put on your heart. In this episode, you'll discover… How Calvin left titles behind. (8:25) Share your story of God's faithfulness with your kids. (15:45) What is One and O? Renfroe played collegiate football at Trinity International University from 2003 to 2006. During his Trojan tenure, the team achieved two top-20 national rankings and earned a trip to the NAIA National Playoffs. Renfroe's coaching philosophy is to "equip young men to rise up and become the next generation of leaders for Christ while pursuing football excellence." The Sports Experience Podcast with Chris Quinn and Dominic DiTolla
Episode 273 of “The Sports Experience Podcast” is here & we're continuing our block of episodes on the most famous of Brett Favre's backups. After a 1990 season which saw Brunell lead Washington to a PAC-10 title, many believed the Rose Bowl MVP quarterback would lead the Huskies to an undefeated season in 1991. Unfortunately, a knee injury in spring practice derailed Brunell's 1991 season. He lost his starting job to Billy Joe Hobert, and Washington won a share of the National Championship. Brunell regained his starting job in 1992 after Hobert was suspended, and Green Bay took a chance on the athletic signal-caller in the fifth round of the 1993 NFL Draft. Though Brunell did not see much playing time his first two pro seasons, he flourished after he was traded (the first ever trade in franchise history) to the expansion Jacksonville Jaguars before the 1995 season. It did not take long for Brunell & the Jaguars to find success in the NFL. By the end of 1996, Brunell led the league in passing yards, led the Jaguars to their first postseason berth, upset both Buffalo and Denver on the road in the playoffs and made the franchise's first AFC Championship Game. One of the league's best teams during the late 1990s, Brunell led a lethal passing attack complimented by Keenan McCardell & Jimmy Smith. It was also during his career with the Jaguars (1995-2003) that Brunell made all three of his Pro Bowls. The crafty left-hander then spent the next four seasons starting with Washington (2004-2007). He followed his stint with the Redskins as a backup in New Orleans (2008-2009) where he won a Super Bowl after the 2009 season. Finally, Brunell rounded out his pro career as a backup with the New York Jets (2010-2011). Presently, Brunell is back in the NFL as the Quarterbacks Coach of the Detroit Lions. Highlights from our conversation with football coach Tavita Pritchard: Centering relationships over x's and o's How who you are shows up on the tape How embracing his family history guides his coaching style Believing in your process instead of over-indexing on an individual result Connections between coaching and the writing process Pritchard played quarterback at Stanford University from 2006-09 and joined the coaching staff in 2010. He worked his way from a graduate assistant, to defensive assistant, to running backs coach, to wide receivers coach, to quarterbacks coach, and ultimately assumed the role of offensive coordinator from 2018-22. During Pritchard's time at Stanford, the team won three Pac-12 titles and two Rose Bowl championships. Pritchard coached a range of remarkable future NFL players, including QB Kevin Hogan, a fifth-round draft pick of the Kansas City Chiefs, who led the team to the 2015 Pac-12 title and a Rose Bowl win. Pritchard is now in his second year as the Quarterbacks Coach for the NFL's Washington Commanders. He lives with his wife Caroline Kusin Pritchard (oh, hey!!!) and four kids in Oakton, Virginia.

At TEDx Fargo, Randy Hedberg, Associate Head Coach and Quarterbacks Coach for the North Dakota State University (NDSU) football team, described the principles and cultural touchpoints that guide his team's culture. Between 2011 and 2022, the NDSU Bisons won nine national titles. So their culture is one to be studied! One of Hedberg's lessons that stood out for me was: The daily environment of Bison football is shaped by the worst behavior the leaders are willing to tolerate. Coaches and all Bison teammates pay attention to behaviors that might drag the team down and behaviors that might elevate the team. This is a philosophy that everyone should apply in business and in every other aspect of life. Don't tolerate a horrible culture. Instead, be a catalyst for change! #TEDxFargo ----------------------------------------------- Welcome to Ever Better Today: the daily podcast for creating your optimal business, career, or overall life in ten minutes or less. I'm Lisa Conners Vogt, Executive and Leadership Coach and founder of Ever Better Coaching and Consulting. Let's jump in! ----------------------------------------------- How to apply the “worst behavior tolerated” philosophy to your life. Business If you're a business owner or senior leader, you are responsible for modeling your culture. Don't tolerate or personally demonstrate inappropriate behavior. Leadership happens at all levels. If you're not a senior leader, you have the ability to speak up and report inappropriate behavior. For example, if you see that someone is being bullied in your workplace and you remain silent, you contribute to the tolerance of that behavior. Family If you're a part of a family with unhealthy dynamics, consider how you can make a difference for this generation and the next. If you're not sure how to make a difference, talk to someone else who might be able to help. What situations are you tolerating? ---------------------------------------------- To learn more about working with Ever Better, send me an email here or book a complimentary call with me here
