Today on America in the MorningPrimary Day Recap Primaries were held in Florida, Alaska and Wyoming Tuesday, while voters in California held a special election to replace Democratic congressman Eric Swalwell.  John Stolnis has a recap from Washington.  Trump Claims Strait Of Hormuz US Territory President Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth are defending the conditions of the U-S-S Abraham Lincoln as the president posts an image of a map that now shows the Strait of Hormuz as US territory.  Correspondent Clayton Neville has the latest in the Middle East.   Additional Canada Tariffs Halted President Trump said Tuesday night he was delaying temporarily the 50% U.S. tariffs on $20 billion worth of Canadian imports after the two countries reached a last-minute deal an hour before the sanctions were to go into effect.  America in the Morning's Jeff McKay has details.   College Drug Trafficking Two Penn State University fraternities are in deep trouble for making pledges participate in a drug trafficking scheme.  As Lisa Dwyer reports, more than a dozen people have been arrested for transporting drugs over state lines to sell on campus.   Latest On Lala One person has died, thousands still remain without power and there's widespread destruction in Hawaii from Tropical Storm Lala.  Correspondent Ben Thomas reports.   Disney Sues FCC Both Disney and ABC television are filing a lawsuit against the FCC.  Correspondent Marcela Sanchez reports the legal challenge is to the Trump administration's call for an early license renewal process, and claims the FCC is violating the network's free speech rights.   Pennsylvania Data Center Rules Pennsylvania will be taking a hard line against data centers, announcing significant restrictions on projects, including that any data center being built must pay for their own power.  Sue Aller reports that other restrictions in the governor's executive order include who they can hire, and strict guidelines on water use.   South Korea Reacts To Scaled Back Maneuvers South Korea is reacting to President Trump's order to scale back annual joint exercises between the South Korean and American military.  Correspondent Karen Chammas reports that the president's decision was due in part to the South Korean government's refusal to help in the fight against Iran and keep vital shipping lanes open.   Meta Goes To Court Attorneys representing four states argued in court that Facebook and Instagram parent company Meta developed its products to hook young users on its platforms.  Correspondent Kelvin Chan reports that Meta is also being accused of harvesting the data of children under 13 to benefit the tech giant.   Minnesota Sues Texas Minnesota's attorney general sued the governor of Texas on Tuesday, seeking to compel the extradition of an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent charged with wounding a man and then lying to justify the shooting during the agency's crackdown in Minneapolis.  Overton Picked To Head FDA President Donald Trump will nominate White House official Heidi Overton to be the next commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration.      Finally   More details are emerging into the death of actress Hayden Panittiere, including word of a “bag of medication” and the 9-1-1 call in a heavily redacted incident report.  Entertainment reporter Kevin Carr has details. Cam Marston spent Father's Day at church alone, then had dinner with his own dad — and somewhere in between, figured something out. ----- Father's Day came and went last weekend. It coincided with my wife and my anniversary and the summer solstice – all on the same day. That must mean something. My wife chose to prioritize Father's Day because, well, twenty-nine years is a nice number but it's not all that special, and she wanted me to be celebrated by the kids. I went to church on Father's Day. My wife was going to join me but there was a puppy emergency, and she stayed home on the phone with poison control while I went off to church alone. On Mother's Day, the church is packed. It's a great service and a great celebration with everyone in their finest. It's one of my favorites of the year. But last Sunday, on Father's Day, the church was, well, much less than full. It's as if in anticipation of Mother's Day, the mothers let the family know they will all be going to church and to be ready. On Father's Day? Fathers just kinda go "ehhh. Let's go if it works out." I would have loved to have had my children with me, but I wanted them to want to go, not be made to go. "That's the exact wrong attitude," my wife told me. "You need to tell them what you want." Well, I want them to want to join me. Maybe that's asking too much. I keep a picture of my father near my coffee maker and glance at it most mornings while the coffee is brewing. He's somewhere in his mid-twenties in the picture, standing in someone's kitchen holding a fish he caught and showing it off to the camera. It's a good-sized speckled trout he probably caught somewhere around Dauphin Island over sixty years ago. My dad has been a menace to the speckled trout population his whole life. He can sniff them out, read the water, knows how deep to fish the bait, and come up with fish over and over again. I've been in the boat with him when we were catching fish doing what he told us, surrounded by boats who couldn't catch a thing. We were bringing them in, and they couldn't get a strike. It's my father's special magic. I showed him this picture Sunday night at my house. I invited him for a Father's Day dinner and he came and offered to bring, what else, fish. It was freshly caught snapper, and I've become a big fan of cooking everything in a cast iron skillet in the oven, and we had a heck of a meal. Dad looked at the picture and laughed. No telling how many pictures he's had taken of him holding up a fish. He didn't remember anything from the photo – it was a long time ago, after all. Maybe that's how it works with fathers. We don't demand to be remembered. We just show up, catch the fish, cook the meal, and hope something takes hold in the people we love. And sometimes it does.
