In this episode, a group of LJMU sport science experts preview the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. How does the home advantage really benefit athletes? From familiarity with venues to having no jet lag to contend with and tried and tested nutrition readily available. What are the final stages of preparation for any athlete on the eve of competition? How do you combat the panic? Leading the conversation is Professor Greg Whyte from the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences. Greg is well known for optimising performance not only to help students and elite athletes, but for high profile charitable challenges, most recently supporting Owain Wyn Evans and Sophie Ellis Bextor's 24-hour Children in Need challenges. Joining Greg is Professor Graeme Close, a professor of human physiology who provides nutrition and physiology consultancy alongside academic research to some of the world's leading sports organisations, including England Rugby. Dr Amy Whitehead adds her expertise in the field of sport psychology and coaching, having worked for organisations such as St Helens RLFC, British Cycling and the FA. Dave McDermott, who manages LJMU's Sport Scholarship programme, completes the fab four with his oversight of the performance sport arm of LJMU where elite athletes from jockeys to boxers have benefitted from specialist research and hands-on support.
A M A Z I N G. In this episode, we talk about... * Sexual repression. * The difference between mediocre sex and great sex. * Owning your shame and sharing it out loud with other people. * What opens up as you expand your sexuality. * One type of ABUSE that is LEGAL and RIFE. About Dave McDermott He is The Empowered Man Whose work is so needed. Even just looking at his cover photo on his FB page makes me smile with gratitude for his work. A man that teaches men how to understand women. He does this because he understands women. He understands powerful living. He knows the importance of being sexually confident. He empowers men so don't feel or get rejected by women and how to be more confident in our presence. Really important work right? I believe there is a deeper importance to his work. I believe that when men do this “work” something else happens… This confidence, respect, understanding and empowerment they will, in turn, teach their children to be confident, respectful, understanding and empowered. Their children will teach their children and it all of a sudden we create entire lineages of epically strong, kind, confident, loving and humble people. It means less abuse in all its facets. More love in all its facets. It means less mental illness in all its facets. More self embodied acceptance in all its facets. Ummm this work is so frigging important and I am delighted to welcome Dave McDermott LIVE on the show. https://www.empoweredman.com.au/ https://www.facebook.com/mcempowered.david

"Two years ago on a coaching course in LA, I met Destin Gerek, at a time in my life when I was a mess in how I was relating to women. At the time I knew I'd found a man who could really help me sort out what was holding me back from having the romantic life I wanted. Prior to meeting him, I'd studied and worked with pick-up artists who were the alpha-male "I'll help you date multiple hot women" types. Rating women out of 10. Focusing on sex as the goal. Going out with wingmen to prey on women. Marking endless notches on their belt and leaving a trail of hurt behind them. Unable to form quality relationships of depth with women. But Destin was different. He really cared about women. He deeply understood the importance of safety for women, both physical and emotional. His wisdom on seduction went far deeper than the professional seducers I'd worked with. They were like kindergarten students compared to him. It was a life-changing pleasure to do the equivalent of a PhD in Understanding Women with him during my time as his apprentice. My work with Destin was one of the major components of moving from a place of having loveless or toxic relationships with women, as well as a lot of empty casual sex, to a place of being in an awesome healthy relationship with an incredible woman. A relationship that has real depth of love. A relationship that found and continues to find my edges for expansion. Where my beloved and I create the kind of relationship that works for us, rather than blindly follow how we were told a relationship should be. The work I did with Destin was the fire-cracker up the bum I needed. To turn my focus to being a student of women, with full authenticity. To understand that although there'll always be an element of mystery to women, there is a LOT that can be understood by a man. To understand that the journey of understanding women continues until the last breath. To understand that very few men on the planet really understand women well. To understand that most of the men who claim to understand women, only understand them at a relatively superficial level." --@Dave McDermott
