In this episode we look at the 2024 movie Wicked - a movie that consider the back story that leads up the classic film, the Wizard of Oz. Taking its cue from the Broadway smash musical, the movie explores the back story of Elphaba, Glinda, the Wizard, and many others. Everyone has a story - before you judge do you know their story...and for that matter, do they know your story?
I've always believed that stories are how we make sense of life. They're how we connect, teach, and remember. Whether it's a tale passed around a dinner table or one shared in a business meeting, the right story can bridge generations and bring people closer together. In this week's Celebrate Your Story, I sit down with Kindra Hall, a bestselling author and expert in storytelling who's helped thousands of people learn how to share their stories with authenticity. Kindra believes that every person's story has value, even the ones we might think are too ordinary or small. Our conversation reminded me that the best stories don't need to be perfect, just honest. We talk about the importance of finding the heart in our experiences, how to match stories to the messages we want to share, and why self-deprecating moments often connect us most deeply to others. Take a moment to reflect on your own story and the lessons you've learned, the people who've shaped you, and the moments that have made you who you are. When we share those stories, we tell people who we are and remind them they're not alone.

Yes, everyone has a story worth sharing and you will love Marci's stories and inspiration on today's Living a Legacy Life Podcast. Marci Seither's writing career began after her humor article was published in a small-town newspaper. Since then, she has authored two books and hundreds of articles for local papers as well as Guideposts and Focus On The Family. And she now hosts the radio show and podcast: The Biscuit Book Club - how cute is that? Today we are offering two giveaways: Marci's new magazine for readers, eaters and writers, as she says. As well has her beautiful hard back retreat at the lake devotional called Lake Side Retreat. Besides writing, she enjoys teaching workshops, speaking, and photography, and she just launched a radio show, "The Biscuit Book Club," with her friend Shelly Sulfridge. Her biggest joy, besides being married to John, raising six kids who have all flown the nest, and creating memories and messes with her seven grandkiddos, is baking anything that includes butter. Some gems from our conversation: You can hear someone's story from asking simple questions like, "Tell me about your lunch box growing up?" or "Have you ever felt lost?" If you feel stuck in taking the next step in doing what meant you to do, start where you are standing right now. Start observing more—if you see a need, fill a need. If there's room on the floor, there's room for one more—invite! Volunteering is a gift to yourself. You can impact someone by simply showing up in the messy middle of your own life. Don't wait until the timing is just right to move forward—that right time may never happen. The "red pen" mentality can keep you from writing your story and that might mean your story is lost forever. Be sure to comment to win this lovely devotional. This week friend of show, Miranda, joins me once again. This time she's giving us a very personal glimpse into her life. I often tell her she needs to write a book about her life and maybe this will put her on that trajectory. After a few minutes of comparing notes on Love Island season 7, Miranda shares the challenges she faced during her childhood, the bravery her mom showed that had a lasting impact, the struggles of moving a lot at a vulnerable age, how she met her husband, and the traumatic early loss of her mom. What she shares may very well resonate with you which is why she decided to share her story...because maybe it could help others. I hope that you will be inspired by her strength and resiliency.Intro Music www.bensound.com "Happy Rock"

Send us some LOVE!Rebecca Schaper's journey through grief has led her to become a powerful storyteller, filmmaker, and author who transforms pain into purpose. Growing up with alcoholic parents and a brother struggling with schizophrenia, Rebecca's early life was marked by trauma that many would find impossible to overcome. Yet she describes these experiences as blessings that shaped her ability to help others navigate their own grief journeys. When Rebecca's brother disappeared for twenty years, she never lost faith he was alive. Their eventual reunion sparked what she calls a "soul calling" to create the documentary "A Sister's Call," despite having no filmmaking experience. This leap of faith began a fourteen-year project that would become the backbone of her healing and the foundation for her books, including "The Light in His Soul: Lessons from my Brother's Schizophrenia."Rebecca's most recent work, "Roses to Rainbows: My Dog Gus in the Afterlife," explores her devastating grief after losing her beloved dog unexpectedly at age six. With disarming honesty, she admits this loss affected her more profoundly than her parents' deaths by suicide. The book details her experiences communicating with Gus through a pet communicator, offering hope to those grieving animal companions.Perhaps most powerful is Rebecca's message about legacy through storytelling. We all have stories within us—memories of love, loss, and transformation that deserve to be preserved. Whether through journaling, dictation, or other creative expressions, these stories become gifts for future generations seeking to understand who we were and how we loved.Have you considered writing down your grief journey? Your story might become someone else's lifeline in their darkest moments. As Rebecca demonstrates, you don't need to be a professional writer—you just need to be willing to share your truth.Contact:www.asiliveandgrieve.cominfo@asiliveandgrieve.comFacebook: As I Live and GrieveInstagram: @asiliveandgrieveYouTube: asiliveandgrieveTikTok: @asiliveandgrieveTo Reach Rebecca:Email: author@rebeccaschaper.comWebsite: www.rebeccaschaper.com Credits: Music by Kevin MacLeod Support the showCopyright 2020, by As I Live and GrieveThe views expressed by guests are their own and their appearance on the program does not imply an endorsement of them or any entity they represent.

Everyone has a story to tell. Can you share yours freely? One of the most powerful ways to share the Good News of Jesus is simply to tell people what God has done in your own life. Think back to the moment you first made a decision to follow Jesus. What happened inside of you? How is your life different? Maybe you feel like you've learned to forgive because you received forgiveness from Jesus. Maybe you feel less alone in your sorrow. Has God set you free from fear? God has taken you on a long journey to know Him, and you're still getting to know Him all the time. It is a life-long process. But no matter where you are on your journey with God, start to share that story with others. Is there someone in your life who needs to hear it? Listen to their story, and then tell them yours. Watch and see what God will do. He's going to use you. Remember, there is always hope with God. This is Andrew Palau. "This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!" 2 Corinthians 5:17 radio.hopewithgod.com This podcast is powered by Pinecast.

Today, we're concluding our series, "Everyone Has a Story Worth Telling," with a powerful message about the significance of your personal story. You might think your story is too messy or insignificant to share, but it's precisely these stories that can connect, inspire, and offer hope. When Jesus transforms our lives, our stories become beacons of light in a dark world. Don't hide your light; let your story shine. Even the Apostle Paul, despite his past and ongoing struggles, shared his journey openly. Embracing our brokenness allows Jesus' grace to work through us, showcasing His power in our weaknesses. So, get real, be vulnerable, and share your story. Your journey, with all its thorns, is a testament to the transformative power of Jesus' love and grace.
Think back to the best stories you've ever heard—aren't they often the ones where everything went hilariously wrong? Whether it's forgetting tent poles on a rainy camping trip or dealing with a string of vacation disasters, these tales captivate us. But in real life, especially regarding our spiritual journeys, we often hesitate to share our stories, thinking they're too mundane or messy. Yet, the Bible shows us that our stories, no matter how small or chaotic, have immense power. In John 4, Jesus meets a Samaritan woman whose life is full of personal challenges, yet her encounter with Jesus transforms her into the first missionary, sharing her story to bring others to faith. Today, we'll explore how recognizing and sharing our own stories of God's work in our lives can inspire and impact those around us. Join us as we delve into the story of the Samaritan woman and discover the significance of embracing and sharing our unique narratives.

In this week's message from our series, "Everyone Has a Story Worth Telling," we delve into the importance of sharing your story and how it can inspire others towards the greatest story ever told: Jesus. Drawing from Psalm 66:16 and my personal journey, we'll explore how our paths often diverge from God's calling, only to be realigned through His intervention. Today, we unpack the story of Jonah, a prophet who ran from God's plan, and how his journey reveals the depths of God's forgiving, patient, and compassionate love. Jonah's tale is not just a narrative from the past; it's a timeless reminder of God's boundless love for all, even those we consider enemies. Join us as we reflect on how Jesus calls us to love unconditionally, challenging us to live our faith authentically and embrace God's grace in our lives.
This week, we're kicking off a new series called "Everyone Has a Story Worth Telling." Over the next few weeks, we'll delve into the power of our personal stories and their role in our faith. Inspired by Simon Sinek's "Start With Why," we will learn why sharing our stories is more impactful than just sharing our theology. Today, we'll look at the story of Rahab, a woman whose faith and courage made her an integral part of Jesus' lineage. Join us as we uncover the profound truths in our own stories and learn how God uses our vulnerabilities to connect and inspire others. What's your story? It might be the very thing that encourages someone else and glorifies God in the most unexpected ways.
