This episode is all about figuring out Enneagram types. It's not just for your partner, it can help with friends, family, or coworkers. Here are the steps I outline in the podcast Step 1: Narrow it down. Figure out 4 or fewer types that fit by looking at the Core Motivation Cheat Sheet Step 2: Look at the Wings. If any of the types you have on your list are touching (like 1 and 9 or 3 and 4) then take an extra look. Touching types mean you have a type and a wing. Step 3: Look at childhood. Often, experiences or relationships we have in childhood shape our Enneagram type. If you were bossy you may be an 8 or a 1. If you felt like an outsider you might be a 4 or 5. Think about how the core motivation was shaped in childhood. Step 4: Look at shadow qualities. Each type has a high and low side. The shadow is the low side of the type. I discovered my type only when I saw my shadow side. ⚖ 1- Judgemental

This episode, the Mind Dive Podcast turns the guest microphone on its co-host, Dr. Kerry Horrell, psychologist at The Menninger Clinic, to talk about her research into the dilemmas that arise with religion, spirituality, sexism and mental health.  Growing up in a religious family, Dr. Horrell became interested in this topic as a student because her early experience of studying psychology was that “religion was something you checked at the door.” As a Christian, she was confused by this and knew she had to delve deeper, deciding to pursue a graduate psychology program that focused on religion and spirituality.  She soon became interested in the intersection with sexism, noting that elements of sexism are present in most religions.  Dr. Horrell notes that there are two types of sexism, benevolent and hostile. She explains the three pillars of benevolent sexism: protective paternalism, heterosexual intimacy, and complementary gender roles. She notes that, generally, the assumption is that men and women are psychologically very different. Then points out that the available data does not support that conclusion. Conversely, the research shows that, when it comes to psychological make up, men and women are strikingly similar.  Dr. Horrell's research led her to explore whether sexism could positively impact well-being. She discusses two types of wellbeing, hedonistic and eudemonic. Hedonistic focuses on happiness and defines well-being in terms of pleasure attainment and pain avoidance; while eudemonic well-being focuses on meaning and self-realization and the degree to which a person is fully functioning. She discusses research that demonstrates sexism correlates more positively with hedonistic well-being and negatively with eudemonic well-being, giving examples from studies that have been done.  Dr. Horrell says the benevolent sexism in religion can lead to shame. She gives examples, such as the focus on a women's purity.  She notes that when patients are having struggles with spirituality or religion, it often relates to gender, sexuality, and shame. She observes that these conflicts can cause trauma.   In working with patients, Dr. Horrell says clinicians must “hold space for the importance of religion, family and spirituality in a patient's life and empower them to think about their values and identify those things that are at odds with that.”  She says one of the best things a clinician can do is to offer patients the space to stay with the tension and the pain, to think about and it talk about it, without closing quickly on what might feel easy.  “I think there's so much goodness in having things in our life that are sacred to us, and having things that feel bigger than us,” said Dr. Horrell, “Whether that's the concept of love, whether that's nature, whether that is divinity or God…and it's why I'm so passionate about it and about giving people space to get to know that side of their life.”Follow The Menninger Clinic on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn to stay up to date on new Mind Dive episodes. The year was 1960, and Princess Margaret, along with her new husband Anthony Armstrong-Jones, made a fateful trip ashore to the tiny Caribbean island of Mustique during their six week (checks notes — yes, six week) honeymoon aboard the royal yacht. Margaret's party pal from back in London, Colin Tennant (later, Glenconner), had just purchased the island and he cannily offered the princess a plot of land as a wedding gift. It would be another few years before "Margo" cashed in the I.O.U, but when she did, she also asked for a house — naturally. Thus began Margaret's long love affair with the hedonistic party paradise that Colin developed on Mustique. It's where Margaret escaped the glare of public life in London, enjoyed getaways with her boyfriend, and later suffered a series of serious health episodes. In this final episode Windsors & Losers season one, Eva and Allie mentally head to Mustique to revisit what Margaret and the rest of the 1970s glitterati got up to down there. Hint: it once involved spray-painting palm trees gold, outfitting waiters in just gold coconut shells, and polluting the sand with gold glitter.

You have found your corner of the internet. In researching female serial killers, the quote that comes to mind is about Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire. Folks frequently talk about how Ginger could do what Fred could, but she could do it backward and in heels. Well, my friend...female serial killers may not be as common as their male counterparts, but they are just as deadly. This recovery walking or light running workout will let us explore the motives, classifications of female serial killers and by the end of it, I think you will agree, that while the "lady killers" may not have as "splashy" or gory crimes, they leave behind just as much wake and destruction. We will explore the 3 serial killer classification: Organized, Disorganized, and Mixed along with motive categories of Visionary, Mission-Oriented, Hedonistic, and Power/Control. Along with how female, but specifically female serial killers fit into those classifications and categories. From the streets of Medellin to NYC, Miami-Dade, and Los Angeles, Griselda Blanco, aka La Madrina, left a trial of body bags in her wake in her bid to be the baddest bish in town. We compare Sebastian's childlike and childish approach to beauty and life, with Charles' devotion but ultimately superficial love of beauty and art. In this interview, Dena discusses what the long road of recovery from pornography addiction looked like after she found salvation (because like most, there wasn't instant freedom!). Dena also discusses the impact her recovery and desire for purity has had on dating and marriage. Before Jesus, Dena's life primarily revolved around sexual relationships, pornography, and masturbation. But by God's grace, with the help of her church, and over the course of many years, Dena experienced deep healing and transformation with regard to her sexual struggles, now walking in sexual sobriety for 8 years. In 2016 she had the great privilege of working with her church to help start a ministry for women who struggle with sexual sin. One of her many joys of being in this ministry has been to help develop a small group curriculum titled, Set Free: Equipping Women in the Quest for Sexual Integrity, recently published on Amazon.
