Seit gut einer Woche können sich alle Fans in der FohlenWelt die Sonderausstellung „Borussia und die Briten“ anschauen. In der von Borussia komplett in Eigenregie konzipierten und umgesetzten Schau geht es auf etwa 110 Quadratmetern Fläche um Borussias besonderes Verhältnis zum britischen Fußball. Angelehnt an dieses Thema hat sich Moderator Torsten Knippertz für die zehnte Ausgabe des „FohlenPodcast – Mit Fans, für Fans“ zwei Borussia-Anhänger an seine Seite geholt, die eine besondere Beziehung zu Großbritannien haben: Thomas „Jonny“ Polcher vom Fanclub „Eifelpower Polch`80“ sowie der in Glasgow lebende David Sleight. In dem knapp 45-minütigen Gespräch spricht das Trio über die immer wiederkehrenden Verbindungen von Borussia, dem FC Liverpool und Celtic Glasgow – die drei Lieblingsvereine von David Sleight, dessen Liebe zu den Fohlen beim Champions League-Spiel 2016 zwischen Borussia und Celtic Glasgow entflammte. „Ich liebe es, hier zu sein und die Atmosphäre im BORUSSIA-PARK zu erleben“, berichtet der Schotte, der inzwischen fast zu jedem Heimspiel nach Deutschland kommt. Am zurückliegenden Wochenende zog er das Bundesligaspiel zwischen der FohlenElf und Eintracht Frankfurt sogar dem Klassiker Celtic Glasgow gegen die Rangers vor. „Ich habe eine Dauerkarte bei Celtic, daher haben alle meine Freunde das nicht verstanden“, berichtet David lachend. Da seine Mutter in Krefeld studiert hat, kam er bereits in den 80er-Jahren erstmals näher mit Borussia in Berührung. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt war „Jonny“ Polcher dem VfL bereits längst verfallen. „Die Herren in Weiß haben super Fußball gespielt, daher bin ich damals Borussia-Fan geworden und für immer geblieben“, berichtet „Jonny“, der die Fohlen seitdem zu zahlreichen Europapokalpartien „auf die Insel“ begleitete. „Es waren immer super Erlebnisse. Man hat zusammen mit den britischen Fans gefeiert, Bier getrunken und Schals getauscht“, berichtet das Fanprojektmitglied.
