After Tottenham's greatest triumph in over thirty years, it appeared that the dark cloud that loomed over White Hart Lane might be subsiding. However, the chairman of the board decided that Ange Postecoglou was no longer fit to lead the men's team forward after their worst league performance in a long time. The triumph in Europe was not enough to save his job and now Tottenham will look to new Head Coach Thomas Frank, formerly of Brentford, to lead them into a new ear. Hello Rank Squad! The (first) Transfer Window has officially closed, but there's been plenty of activity on the managerial merry-go-round across Europe, with new faces taking over at new places - to the delight of some and the chagrin of others. On today's episode we're looking at a number of new bosses and analysing how we think they fit their new home. We start with the most recent appointment - Brentford's Thomas Frank is all set to take over at Tottenham Hotspur, who moved on from Ange Postecoglou at the end of last week, and try to build on that Europa League trophy that Ange won in what turned out to be his final game. We discuss the differing approaches and how this might all work out; before moving on to talk about Xabi Alonso's new era at Real Madrid, after he left Bayer Leverkusen to replace Carlo Ancelotti; and his replacement at Leverkusen - former Manchester United and Ajax gaffer Erik ten Hag. Then in Part Three, we get stuck into the Calcio Chaos - Christian Chivu replacing Simone Inzaghi at Inter; Max Allegri returning to AC Milan to take over from the sacked Sergio Conçeição; Gian Piero Gasperini leaving Atalanta to take over from Claudio Ranieri at Roma, with the Tinkerman turning down the Azzurri to stay upstairs in the Eternal City; and former Gasperini disciple Ivan Juric replacing the old chessmaster at Atalanta. There's some chat too about the Club World Cup and some of the transfers yet to happen this summer at the start of the show, and don't forget to take a look at our Patreon, where there's loads more transfer podcasts and newsletters happening over the course of this summer. It's Ranks! Send us a textThis week's episode is full of chaos, confusion, and classic Spurs energy. We kick things off with the shocker: Ange Postecoglou sacked by Tottenham—yes, right after winning their first trophy in forever. If that's not the most Spurs thing ever, we don't know what is.Back in MLS, St. Louis City fell 1-2 to Portland. The team looked solid for about 65 minutes, but once again, no one stepped up when it mattered. Someone's gotta take the reins before this season slips away. Then we dive into the mess that was USMNT's 1-2 loss to Turkey. The lineup? Embarrassing. The performance? Worse. We're 366 days from the World Cup, and we still don't know our best XI. Players sitting out, no chemistry, and no urgency—what's going on?We wrap with the Nations League Final, where Portugal edged Spain on penalties after a 2-2 draw. The big takeaway? The stars showed up. It's refreshing to see top players actually care about representing their countries—and it made for a thrilling final.Tune in for all the hot takes, rants, and laughs as we break down another wild week in the world of football!Support the show

This week my football club Tottenham Hotspur fired Ange Postecoglou as manager after he led us to win the Europa League a few weeks ago. There are arguments for and against this decision from a footballing perspective, but ultimately it feels like a complete failure on behalf of the decision-makers at the club to grasp the entire point of following a football club, or of life in general. The reason I follow the club is because it's a big part of the friendship I have with one of my mates back in London, and the feeling I had when we won the trophy was shared with him. Everyone who follows the club and shares that with people in their life got to have that experience when we won, and if you believe what Ange was saying after we won, there's every chance that he could have led us to more of those moments. The people in charge took that opportunity away from him, from us, all because of some cold pragmatism, and finding out for certain that this is where their priorities lie has made me really sad.
