Unlock Your Wealth Today© addresses Freedom of Choice for your HealthCare, Student Loans and Education Fraud, and the Growing Longevity Crisis with Special Guest Dr. Ed Hudgins of the Heartland Institute on this episode. Unlock Your Wealth Today and Heather Wagenhals' gives you the tools and resources to increase your Wealth, Health, Wisdom, and Pleasurable pursuits. Introduction: New drugs and life-saving health treatments are being discovered everyday and yet we cannot seem to have access to them due to the painstaking process of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). As individuals and providers it is illegal to seek out or administer treatment that is not approved by the FDA. Wouldn't it be great if there were a way we could have the freedom to choose and control our healthcare options and have access to participate in studies that just may save our lives? How does this play into the greater ramifications for our aging population? Today's guest, Dr. Edward Hudgins is the research director for The Heartland Institute will address these very concerns. Who's On: Dr. Edward Hudgins is the research director for The Heartland Institute. In conjunction with other department directors, Hudgins sets the organization's research agenda and priorities; works with in-house and outside scholars to produce policy studies, policy briefs, and books; contributes his own research; and works with Heartland staff to promote Heartland's work. The Heartland Institute is a national nonprofit research and education organization addressing a wide range of public policy issues. We have deep expertise on budget and tax issues, education policy, environmental protection, and health care policy. We produce books, policy studies, and shorter publications and send many of them to every national and state elected official in the United States. What's Shared: What study sparked the debate regarding the longevity crisis? What do we know about the need for emergent healthcare and Freedom of Choice? How does technological obsolescence actually help our economy and the human race? Back in April, Bob interviewed Ed Hudgins about The Republican Party's Civil War, in which Hudgins urged Republicans to emphasize the value of “modernist achievers”—those who disrupt status quo industries and demonstrate what free individuals can accomplish. Derek Khanna is one of the youngest yet most influential thinkers leading the charge on the innovation front in Washington D.C. Khanna regularly writes on disruptive innovation for Forbes.com, and recently had his article, "The Party of Innovation," featured on the cover of The American Conservative magazine. The piece advocated for common sense free-market reform in technology policy, and in the broader conservative movement. If his ideas are any indication of a trend, there may still be hope for Republicans to become known as the party of dynamism and innovation. Bob and Khanna talked about obstacles to forming new small businesses, and Khanna explained some recent reforms that may foreshadow more sweeping victories down the road.

The Republican Party continues its trek through the electoral and ideological wilderness. The party’s problems are evident. Its presidential candidates have won a majority in only one of the past six elections. Although holding the House of Representatives, the GOP leadership remains distrusted, not least with the party’s grassroots. Ed Hudgins believes a turn toward libertarian ideas and policies would bring the party philosophical coherence and sustained electoral success. Others doubt liberty should dominate the GOP’s policies or argue libertarianism has little electoral appeal to traditional Republican voters. Please join us to hear a debate that will inform the next two pivotal national elections. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
