New York City is struggling with its budget, and despite Mayor Mamdani campaigning on affordable housing, he's now turning to property tax hikes to try to close the gap. This is fairly typical for Democrats—and totally unsurprising. Meanwhile, Trump struck a deal with Japan that looks poised to sidestep China while also boosting American energy abundance. We'll also cover socialism in our schools—how bad it really is—and how to counter it.And on UNHINGED: the Obama Presidential Center, scheduled to open this spring, is astonishingly ugly—and fitting for the Obama legacy. The Heartland Institute's Linnea Lueken, S.T. Justin Haskins joins us to talk about his and Jack McPherrin's new book, "The Next Big Crash," covering the shady dealings of Wall Street insiders and elites who have conspired to rig our economy and transfer control over our futures to massive financial interests. When the next crash comes, it could very well be more devastating than any before. On a brighter note, federal employment is at the lowest level it has been since 1966, showing that the Trump administration really has made progress on cutting federal bloat, while American private sector jobs are improving. Meanwhile, the SAVE America Act may be passed soon, but Democrats say it will disenfranchise voters by requiring them to simply have ID.On UNHINGED: How would you feel about living in a constant, ubiquitous surveillance state? It's finally done. The Trump administration on Thursday announced that the Endangerment Finding for carbon dioxide is dead. No longer will the federal government treat CO2 as a gas that harms human health and welfare. It has been the lynchpin of regulatory overreach for nearly two decades, morphing into a way for the Biden administration to all but outlaw the internal combustion engine. President Trump said the Endangerment Finding has cost the U.S. economy more than $1 trillion, and EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin said the repeal will make the annoying “auto off” switch in new automobiles no longer mandatory.Does the end of the Endangerment Finding mean the death of the climate hoax? How significant is this move, really, if it doesn't directly address CO2 emissions from coal and natural gas power plants? Will it survive a court challenge? What more must be done to restore science and common sense to public policy? The Heartland Institute's Anthony Watts, Linnea Lueken, Jim Lakely, and special guest Lois Perry will tackle this subject, plus other Crazy Climate News of the Week. Why can't Democrats celebrate success? PLUS, Justin Haskins, Vice President at The Heartland Institute, tells Shaun about his new book, The Next Big Crash: Conspiracy, Collapse, and the Men Behind History's Biggest Heist, exposing how America’s financial system has been rigged against us and how "you will own nothing" is already here. The Heartland Institute's Donald Kendal tells Shuan his tales of Davos, how the climate alarmist narrative is increasingly losing steam, and the unpredicted demand for AI. And our National Anthem: the late, great Meatloaf!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The election of Donald Trump in 2024 looked like it brought an end to the previous administration's radical environmental policies. America walked out on the global climate scammers, canceled green energy projects, and is still trying to claw back billions of dollars shoveled out the door to Democrat-linked groups in the waning days of the Biden administration. But one of the worst environmental policies of all, like a zombie, is still wandering around Washington. A spending bill that passed the Senate recently included a provision directing the Department of Energy to review the “carbon intensity” of American-made products and compare the CO₂ emissions with similar products imported to the United States. Such provisions are how carbon taxes, or even carbon tariffs, come to life. What's going on here? This week, Bitcoin is DOWN, but does that mean anything to those of us who don't own it? Some argue that it indicates the dollar is strengthening, which is good news for affordability. AND the Washington Post has laid off a third of their staff, journalists are unemployed all over the place, and it could mean the beginning of the end for the far-left publication. Finally school is out... all the time, it seems, because students seem to be missing class for protests, snow weeks, all kinds of things that aren't school. In New York City, Mamdani's government is focusing on removing programs for high-achievers, and refocusing on "green" initiatives. For UNHINGED: Kathy Griffin is at it again, this time she is angry that First Lady Melania Trump's documentary is doing well, and recommends you turn in your pesky MAGA neighbors. The Heartland Institute's Linnea Lueken, S.T. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent also announced that the United States is out of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) for developing countries. The Trump administration also withdrew the U.S. from more than 60 other international organizations, including dozens of U.N.–linked bodies. This is a breathtaking and historic move by Trump — something that was simply unimaginable until it actually happened. The signs are all around us. The climate cult is losing its grip on our politics and culture. The UN's climate conference, COP30 in Brazil, was a flop that even the alarmist cheerleaders in the legacy media could not ignore. A major paper justifying radical climate action was just retracted. The Sierra Club is shedding a shocking number of members. And when was the last time you saw climate alarmist propaganda shoved annoyingly into your favorite TV show or movie – which was very common not so long ago?The Heartland Institute's Jim Lakely, Anthony Watts, Sterling Burnett, and Linnea Lueken will be joined by special guest Jason Isaac, Founder and CEO of the American Energy Institute and a former state legislator in Texas. We will also cover some of the Crazy Climate News of the Week, including a new pro-coal movie with an unexpected twist, how to handle a climate crazed wife, a claim that living modern life causes $5 billion of climate damage an hour, and why Americans in blue states pay so much more for energy than those in red states.Visit our sponsor, Advisor Metals: https://climaterealismshow.com/metalsStories we covered on this program:1. The latest annual UN climate conference, COP 30, is coming to a close. Already a failure, the delegates of doom who gathered in Brazil decided that they needed a serious goal to cap off the conference. What did they come up with? Nothing less than the coming up with a concrete roadmap for the complete phase-out of fossil fuels. They might as well have agreed on drawing out a roadmap to Neverland, because that's just as likely to be found as a future with zero use of fossil fuels. Is COP30 shaping up to be the worst UN climate conference ever? The 30th Conference of the Parties is underway in the Brazilian jungle — some of which was cleared and paved to bring the private jet-set and bureaucrats into the venue. And just days in, the whole thing is already descending into chaos.A large group of angry indigenous protesters have stormed the conference, furious that the agenda left them out. Poor planning and shoddy infrastructure have led to rain leaking through light fixtures, broken air conditioning, and even problems with something as basic as toilet paper disposal.Maybe sensing this impending farce, at least 30 major countries — including the United States — have declined to send official government delegations. Steve Gruber welcomes Chris Talgo, Socialism Research Fellow at The Heartland Institute, to break down a stunning new data point: 52% of young voters now hold a favorable view of Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani. Talgo and Steve dig into what's driving this surge in support for openly socialist candidates, from cultural shifts and failing civic education, to the power of social media narratives and the GOP's struggle to connect with younger Americans. They unpack what Mamdani represents politically, why New York voters embraced him, and what this trend says about the future of the Democratic Party and the ideological fault lines shaping the next generation. A sharp, eye-opening conversation about why socialism keeps gaining ground, and what conservatives must understand if they want to push back.
America's great exodus from major cities and entire states keeps accelerating — and the election of socialist Mayor Mamdani in New York City is only speeding things up. Yet polls show young Americans becoming more favorable toward socialism, even embracing ideas like government-run grocery stores. What does that say about our culture, our education system, and the nation's future? On the education side, things are just as alarming. UC San Diego reports that incoming students can't meet basic math expectations — not just at grade level, but far below it. How did we get here, and how can states and the federal government fix this before it truly spirals out of control?PLUS on UNHINGED:An AI-generated country song has charted in online music sales. On Tuesday, New York City elected a trust-fund communist as mayor. New Jersey, which seemed to be trending red, put a scandal-ridden Democrat in the governor's mansion. In Virginia, voters rejected a black Republican conservative woman over a woke former CIA spook who pledged to force girls and women to endure biological men in their private spaces again. Oh, and Dems in the Old Dominion also elected a man who wished a political opponent and his children would be murdered so his grieving wife would finally agree with him on policy as she held her family in her arms. The weird part is that all these results were expected for weeks.
