Hecojeni doesn't dress their music up for the algorithm. No polish, no autotune just raw takes, jagged edges. The kind of lyrics that hit harder because they're unfiltered. In our conversation, we dive into the making of The Human Race. A song that channels frustration, burnout. Seeing resilience into something both fragile and fierce. We talk about writing songs that feel like postcards from heartbreak. The difference between showing off and showing up. Why imperfection can be its own kind of perfection. Hecojeni opens up about creating music that feels half-secret. Yet deeply communal the kind of tracks you stumble across once and never shake. If you've ever felt worn down by modern life but still hungry for honesty, this one's for you.Where to Find Hecojeni?
Lionel presents challenging hypotheticals designed to teach listeners "how to think". Lionel dives headfirst into sensitive questions about preference, race, and freedom of expression: Would you prefer white Australians or Nigerians move into your state, and does your answer make you a racist? Explore the definitions of "racist," "xenophobe," and "far right" terms like "groper".Lionel debates whether holding "reprehensible" ideas or hating groups based on ethnicity or class is acceptable under the First Amendment, provided no action is taken. Discussion also covers racial preferences in personal life, from dating and marriage to judging adoption scenarios (gay vs. straight, black vs. white families). Lionel asserts that everyone is a person of preferences, not necessarily because they are racist, but because they are human. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Why is the mechanical view of reality so strong? Why does billiard-ball atomism remain the default popular metaphysics? William James was horrified by such “nothing buttery” and the way it substituted bare concepts for rich phenomena.A.N. Whitehead famously – or perhaps not famously enough – described the problem as the “fallacy of misplaced concreteness”.William Blake is another critic. “General Knowledge is Remote Knowledge. But General Forms have their vitality in Particulars. It is in Particulars that Wisdom consists & Happiness too.”We should care about what Blake called “single vision and Newton's sleep”. The antidote is to reestablish a relationship with presence. Poetry and imagery evoke the lived moment of experiencing and the fluid dynamics of that perception. Regain contact with that, regain contact with life. This is the promise of Blake and others. For more on Mark's book, Awake!, and more of his work see - www.markvernon.com

The Light Gate welcomes guest: researcher/author Michael Cremo Date: August 18, 2025. Time: 5-7pm pacific / 8-10pm eastern Episode: 121 Discussion: “Forbidden Archaeology” Tonight, The Light Gate is honoured and delighted to welcome researcher and author, Michael Cremo to the show. Born in 1948, Michael knew from a very early age (after spelling out words in his alphabet soup” that he wanted to be a writer. As he says, "From the very beginning, my life has been a spiritual quest for love and truth. My father served as an American Intelligence Officer for the United States Air Force, and from that time my life was one of periodic change and travel. I went to high school at an American school in Germany and spent my vacations traveling all over Europe. Once, in the spring of 1965, in a youth hostel in Stockholm, I met some kids who had been to India and back, traveling overland. I decided I would someday do the same thing.” He became interested in Eastern philosophy and Indian esoteric teachings , and studied the Bhagavad-gita.” By 1980, he had established himself as a writer, and since then his many books have sold more than 10 million copies and have been translated into many languages. His first book, “Forbidden Archaeology: the Hidden History of the Human Race,” was a landmark book challenging the mainstream paradigm of archeology and showing that humankind is tens of thousands of years old, but millions. As Michael writes, “This book shows that archaeologists and anthropologists, over the past one hundred and fifty years, have accumulated vast amounts of evidence showing that humans like ourselves have existed on this planet for tens of millions of years. We show how this evidence has been suppressed, ignored, and forgotten because it contradicts generally-held ideas about human evolution." Some of his other books include “My Science, My Religion,” “Human Devolution,” “The Forbidden Archeologist,” “Extreme Human Antiquity,” and more! Michael Cremo is a member of the World Archeological Congress and the European Association of Archaeologists as well as an associate member of the Bhaktivedanta Institute specializing in history and philosophy of science. We learn through imitation. This is why we have role models and icons. Those who have gone before us and shown us what's possible. Whether we know it or not, we are followers first. The Apostle John talks about this in 3 John, where he writes, “Do not imitate what is evil but what is good.” In other words, you will imitate what you watch, so watch wisely. From spiritual mentors to social media influencers, the people and patterns we imitate form our character and ultimately how we make our way in the word.Become New is here to help you grow spiritually one day at a time.
Today is day 213 and we are on the section on The Seventh Petition: "But deliver us from evil". 213. Did evil exist before the human race embraced it? Yes. Satan had already opposed God and chosen evil when he tempted Adam and Eve. (Genesis 3: 1–5; John 8:44) We will conclude today with The First Collect of Compline found on page 63 in the Book of Common Prayer (2019). The concept of Covenants are very important in the Bible. They are central to the Bible's unfolding storyline, and they are central for a proper understanding of the relationship that exists between God and Man. Yet, in much of the church today, covenants are not often discussed and even less often understood. In this episode, James Kaczor gives a brief overview of Covenant Theology. He touches on the Tri-covenantal Framework often espoused by Reformed Theologians (Summary Below)Covenant of Redemption: This is the eternal agreement between the three Persons of the Trinity to redeem humanity. Covenant of Works: This is the agreement God made with Adam, as the Head of the Human Race, that promised eternal life for perfect obedience and death for disobedience. All humans who are not "in Christ" are "in Adam" and still subject to the consequences of this covenant. Covenant of Grace: This is the agreement between God the Father and Jesus Christ, along with all those who are "in Christ," whereby God offers eternal life and salvation to fallen sinners through faith in Jesus Christ. In this Covenant, God also gives to his people the gift of his Holy Spirit that makes them willing and able to believe. It is through the grace of this Covenant that all people, since the fall of Adam, must be saved. In addition to this, James spends time unpacking the successive and related Covenants that advance the storyline of the Bible and the redemptive plan of God for the world. Mainly in this order: Abrahamic Covenant -> Mosaic Covenant -> Davidic Covenant -> New CovenantThis message was first preached by James Kaczor on 6/26/2025 at River City's Thursday Morning Bible Study.
A History of the Muslim World: From Its Origins to the Dawn of Modernity (Princeton UP, 2024) by Michael A. Cook This book describes and explains the major events, personalities, conflicts, and convergences that have shaped the history of the Muslim world. The body of the book takes readers from the origins of Islam to the eve of the nineteenth century, and an epilogue continues the story to the present day. Michael Cook thus provides a broad history of a civilization remarkable for both its unity and diversity. After setting the scene in the Middle East of late antiquity, the book depicts the rise of Islam as one of the great black swan events of history. It continues with the spectacular rise of the Caliphate, an empire that by the time it broke up had nurtured the formation of a new civilization. It then goes on to cover the diverse histories of all the major regions of the Muslim world, providing a wide-ranging account of the key military, political, and cultural developments that accompanied the eastward and westward spread of Islam from the Middle East to the shores of the Atlantic and the Pacific. At the same time, A History of the Muslim World contains numerous primary-source quotations that expose the reader to a variety of acutely insightful voices from the Muslim past. Michael Cook is the Class of 1943 University Professor of Near Eastern Studies at Princeton University. His books include Ancient Religions, Modern Politics: The Islamic Case in Comparative Perspective (Princeton), A Brief History of the Human Race, and The Koran: A Very Short Introduction. Morteza Hajizadeh is a Ph.D. graduate in English from the University of Auckland in New Zealand. Being able to understand opposing viewpoints isn't a weakness, it's a strength, Challenging our assumptions can help us enhance our critical thinking, Boosting innovation and sparking creativity on a whole new wavelength, Allowing us to face the future bravely, well-equipped and unblinking. [full text below] Ep. 409 - Happy Understanding We begin as always with the Happy Creed. We believe in Happy, in Balance and Growth, of being Mindful and Grateful, Compassionate and Understanding. Yowza Haha My Happy Friends! We're all part of the same species, all human beings here on Earth The things that are true of any one of us, are also true of the rest, We all live in the brief mortal span between death and birth, We all laugh, cry, eat, sleep, drink, relax and occasionally get stressed. We can understand each other just by virtue of being part of the same Human Race, We know the extremes of our own lives and can imagine the same in another's, Perhaps differing in intensity, frequency, quality, type, context or pace, But we feel, think, live and love along the same lines as our sisters and our brothers. And understanding this fact is the first step towards appreciation and respect, We may not always agree, or even always get along, but we can still connect, Our approaches may differ, but our goals are things we all hate to neglect, And our failures are what we learn from despite being the things we'd like to reject. We can cultivate our imaginations, and practice empathy, and compassion, As long as we don't discount others for not being part of the home team, For they may still have things to teach us, as wisdom is never out of fashion, And sharing different perspectives on humanity is easier than it may seem. Being able to understand opposing viewpoints isn't a weakness, it's a strength, Challenging our assumptions can help us enhance our critical thinking, Boosting innovation and sparking creativity on a whole new wavelength, Allowing us to face the future bravely, well-equipped and unblinking. Mary welcomes back Nathaniel Jeanson of Answers in Genesis. Dr. Jeanson holds a PhD in cell and developmental biology from Harvard University. He serves as a research biologist, author, and speaker with Answers in Genesis. His current research involves using DNA comparisons to understand the true origin of species, and he has published groundbreaking results on this question. In addition, he has contributed to several books, including Replacing Darwin: The New Origins of Species and the only slightly more recent Traced: Human DNA's Big Surprise, an examination of the genetic history of humanity that makes testable predictions from the creationist worldview. His 26 part documentary, "The New History of the Human Race" is a fascinating and mind-bending look at the migrations of millennia of humans based on archaeology, genetics, and linguistics, using knowledge and tech-knowledge that was here-to-fore unavailable to the average researcher. We look at his new book, They Had Names, to unlock the hidden history of America. Were there really no people living in America prior to the Pilgrims? Why are the history books silent on its inhabitants going back millennia? Before the Pilgrims landed at Cape Cod, what was happening in North America? Who was there? What civilizations rose and fell? For years, the answers to these questions have been shrouded in mystery. At the time of European contact, a diverse world of Native peoples thrived across the continent. What was their backstory? Who were the ancestors of the Sioux? Where did the Navajo come from? What about the Apache, the Comanche, the Cherokee? For the history nerd, a compendium of answers to questions, and yet still unanswered questions from one of the finest researchers of our time, using linguistics, archaeology, and genetics. I know the title of this episode seems like an exaggeration and there will be much more testing but it's really difficult to be surprised by this news given what we knew about the mRNA technology. A study from Sweden out of Lund University has shown that in-vitro the COVID-19 shot does, in fact, change the Human Genome. What this could mean put simply, is that many of those among us are no longer fully human. This is all making much more sense given what people like Dr. Yuval Noah Harari was saying in talks around WEF circles prior to the pandemic. This almost sounds like something out of a science fiction Hollywood movie but is now becoming very real for hundreds of millions, if not billions of people around the globe.Dr. Peter McCollugh on Medical Panel Discussing how the Human Genome has been Altered by the COVID Shotshttps://x.com/redpilldispensr/status/1925145420881084558How The Federal Reserve Destroys your Standard of Livinghttps://youtu.be/nTe6vAMLkYw

William Blake opens the third part of his epic poem, Jerusalem: the Emanation of the Giant Albion, with an astonishing remark. “He never can be a friend of the Human Race who is the Preacher of Natural Morality or Natural Religion.”The declaration is shocking because today, two hundred years since he first printed these lines, naturalistic explanations of morality and religion have become standard. Even amongst champions of Blake. But what did he mean? What did he propose as an alternative? And why might that matter now?An earlier version of this essay is in the current issue of Vala, the magazine of The Blake Society.Mark Vernon's new book is Awake! Send us a textSteve Smith of the Vapors stops by to discuss their latest release, Wasp in the Jar, their upcoming tour, and their longevity career. *****Best known for their massive 1980 worldwide hit “Turning Japanese,” The Vapors continue to bring their individually styled brand of music to fans old and new in the form of high-quality live performances and the ongoing development of critically acclaimed new material. The band, formed in 1979, had already gained a substantial live following around their hometown of Guildford, Surrey and in London, when they were brought to large UK audiences with their support slot on The Jam's iconic 1979 “Setting Sons” tour, by then managed by The Jam's Bruce Foxton and Paul Weller's father John. The release of debut single “Prisoners” in 1979 was followed by 1980's “Turning Japanese “alongside the classic first album New Clear Days. The single reached Number 3 in the UK, Number 1 in Australia, and hit the top 10 in both New Zealand and Canada whilst becoming a mainstream Billboard Top 40 hit in the US. The debut album spawned further hits “News At Ten” and” Waiting for the Weekend” before the very different, but equally well received second album “Magnets” arriving in 1981, providing the singles “Spiders” and further hit “Jimmie Jones”, with the band touring extensively in the UK, US and Australia throughout this period. The band parted company late in 1981, with all members going on to have varied and successful careers across the entertainment industry. In 2016, after a decade of Internet clamour for a revival, they announced their reformation for a short series of gigs, including a sell-out show at London's Dingwalls. Over 170 gigs and 2020's comeback album third album Together and several singles later, they're stronger and more relevant than ever. The band continue to write and perform and have completed two headline tours in the UK since the pandemic, as well as appearing at the Pasadena Rose Bowl's “Cruel World” festival in May 2023, touring the US in 2024 and recording their exciting statement fourth album Wasp In A Jar (to be released on 28th February 2025). They continue to deliver polished shows featuring songs spanning their entire 45-year history. Are you feeling low energy? Do you feel stressed on a daily basis? The news is filled with stories of wars, mass shootings, rights getting overturned, economic uncertainty, and so much continuous devastation, it could seem that we are living in End Times. Our guest today, scholar, philosopher, and researcher Jean Houston, Ph.D., delves into the idea of finding possibility, even during these times of great grief. We have been conditioned to respond to the terrible, but it does not have to be this way. As an icon in the Human Potential movement, Jean shares ideas about how the Renaissance, with its advancements in music, art, poetry, and cosmology, came after great plagues and times of war, much like the world situation today. Could we be in a new Renaissance period now? We are once again in a similar time of radical growth, and we have the power within us to see new possibilities and reach mythical potential in our human evolution. Jean shares stories of her travels and talks about her friendship with scholar Joseph Campbell and how they would have “beautiful fights” which were friendly arguments and deep discussions about mythology and the fate of humanity. Campbell wrote extensively about the “Hero's Journey,” while Jean considered the “Heroine's Journey.” Part of the problem is that 50% of the human race is not being recognized for women's immense creativity and power. Women's ways are missing. With an emphasis on compassion, cooperation, community, and process rather than product and competition, humane creativity must be celebrated by acknowledging the achievements of women. She also talks about her fateful meeting of evolutionary philosopher and Jesuit priest Pierre Teilhard de Chardin who became one of her mentors when she was much younger. At an early age, they would have profound discussions of time, history, and transformation, as she gained an alternate education of possibilities through their talks. We air this today in honor of Jean Houston's upcoming 88th birthday. Info: JeanHouston.com
The restructuring of society is well underway, as the Totalitarian Tip Toe slowly inches forward towards a digital prison system with the emergence of artificial intelligence. The Transhumanism agenda that first took hold in the 1960s has emerged as the end goal for those driving the narratives through the media, tech world, and scientific community. Multiple groups that proclaim to be defenders of mother nature and the people, such as the World Wildlife Foundation and the United Nations, are actually depopulation front-groups that have a very different plan for humanity should they succeed in their quest for world domination. Through their partners in Big Pharma, the culling of the population started many decades ago, though it is now finally clear what their plan has always been. Today's episode features our rich conversation with Dr. Corinne Mitsuye Sugino, Assistant Professor in the Department of English and Center for Ethnic Studies at The Ohio State University, about her compelling new book, Making the Human: Race, Allegory, and Asian Americans. On the show, Alex and Calvin are joined by guest co-host Dr. Sarah Hae-In Idzik to talk with Corinne about her multifaceted analyses of the role of Asian American racialization in the construction of the concept of the human. We delve into Corinne's concept of "racial allegory," which illuminates how media and institutional narratives mobilize categories of difference, including Asian Americans, to stabilize the idea of "Western man".Our discussion touches upon the significance of the title Making the Human, unpacking how Asian American racialization and gendering contribute to the social formulation of the human. We explore key concepts such as the understanding of "Western man" drawn from Black Studies scholarship, while also examining the crucial relationship that Corinne charts between anti-Asian racism and anti-Blackness within communication and rhetoric studies. Corinne also explains how she applies the notion of racial allegory to a case study on Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard, revealing how anti-racist discourse can be used to uphold racial hierarchies, and the strategic role of the victimized Asian student trope in this context. Furthermore, we analyze Corinne's intercontextual reading of the film Crazy Rich Asians alongside Daniel Patrick Moynihan's “The Negro Family” report, exploring allegories of family and mothering and the underlying racial narratives at play. Our discussion also considers the significance of animacy and the inhuman in relation to the boundaries of the human, particularly in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and the racialization of Asian Americans as potential disease carriers. Finally, we reflect upon Corinne's nuanced perspective on the term "Asian American" itself, considering its complexities and its potential as a resource for undoing categories and fostering coalition.Corinne Mitsuye Sugino's Making the Human: Race, Allegory, and Asian Americans is available now from Rutgers University Press.Works and Concepts Referenced in this Episode:Chen, M. The ocean covers more than 70 per cent of our planet's surface. Thanks to its ability to absorb the excess carbon and heat generated by climate change, its potential to generate clean energy and the bountiful source of food it provides to both humans and animals, there's little doubt the ocean is vital for the continued survival of the human race and of the planet itself. But all is not well. Ocean temperatures are climbing, coastal water levels are rising, and extreme weather events are becoming more and more common. In this episode we speak to special advisor on ocean issues to the United Nations Sturla Henriksen about his latest book The Ocean: How It Has Formed Our World – And Will Shape Our Destiny. He tells us about the many challenges we are facing to keep the ocean healthy and why we need to take a more holistic approach to combat them. Learn more about your ad choices. “God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him, male and female he created them” (Genesis 1:27). The Catechism teaches us about man's God-given dignity and unique place in creation. Fr. Mike explains the unity that exists between all persons, and how this necessitates a “law of human solidarity and charity.” Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 355-361. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB.
