Happy New Year and welcome to season 3! This season is going back to movies, in the same alphabetical approach as you love/tolerate. But before we begin the adventure in earnest once more, we have some old business to take care of, namely, determining the "File Under" Best Film of all the flicks that we talked about in season 1/early season 2. Yep, just like we did with music, this special episode is the File Under: Entertainment Movie Madness Tournament, pitting the 73 films discussed to determine the best of the best. They're also part of the incredible Twitch channel, ⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠Lets Play Deathray⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠, where they variety stream all sorts of awesome content, every night except Friday and Saturday's at 7:30 PM MST. Jake is also a published author! He wrote a segment in Bi-Visibility, which you can order ⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠here⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠. AND Eric's wife Megan joins to help us with our voting and upstage Eric with the laughs. I get into the details pretty quick into the episode, but for those who like to read the show notes and know exactly what's in store before pushing play, here's the rundown (what the hell's a rundown? inside joke for Mark): In season 2 we had a March Madness style tournament, pitting the 56 artists that we've covered against each other to determine who was the best of the best. Based on the popularity of that episode, our listeners recommended that we do the same with the movies which had been discussed in season 1. With a 73 team single elimination tournament, there are no regions and multiple 1's, 2's, etc. It is seeded 1 – 73, with the top 9 seeds matching up against winners of the "play-in" games, which pit seeds #56 thru #73 against each other. After our introductions we get right into the matchups and just like REAL Tourney-Time, there are a lot of upsets and unexpected twists. No spoilers directly from me, I encourage everyone to listen to the drama play out in real time. There are definitely a lot of surprises and laughs a plenty. Ho Ho Ho Happy Holidays one and all! No coal in your stocking this year....you'll just wish it was in your EARS instead. Kidding of course, we only bring the highest quality entertainment at File Under, because you can't go A to Z without F U! Super Producer Jared is the first guest, replete with festive stocking hat and also bringing a "curse" that he tries to blame on me. Next up is Mark from The Evil Mark Show, lamenting his decision to NOT choose Katy Perry, going with punk parody instead. Jake and David pop in to share a song a piece, and it unknowingly devolves into the "slurriest" the show has ever gotten or will ever get, catch it here while you can! Finally, Gallo comes by to tell us why he abhors Christmas, but he still chose a fun song to discuss. And Eric gets progressively disenfranchised with his song selection and the holiday as a whole by subjecting himself to the torture that ends up being Bruce Springsteen's take on a popular Christmas tune. Luckily for you, you are only subjected to it in the first segment with Jared, through the magic of editing I spare the rest of your sanities. I have a feeling you'll lose enough of it hearing your Uncle say weird stuff and having to put together children's toys. What's this? A new File Under: Entertainment episode in your feed? Surely your eyes deceive you.....NAY! 'TIS REAL KNAVE! WE'RE BAAAACCCCKK......(and better than ever???) Nah...just back; but that's a start! In this, the flip side (or, SIDE SPLIT) of The Fall and Green Lantern episode finishes off the Lee Pace and Taika Waititi adventure, as we discuss Captain Marvel and What We Do In The Shadows! Lee Pace stars in a minor role as Ronan The Accuser in not only one of Eric's favorite Marvel characters, but favorite movie in general, Captain Marvel (2019), which is first on the docket. Once again, Eric is incredibly disappointed that Dylan is not falling all over himself to discuss this film, so Eric doubles down on the fawning over Brie Larson's portrayal and what it means not only for empowered women and the fellow feminists that love them, but also human kind itself and our ever enduring spirit! We follow that up by laughing at that same humankind for becoming food for the protagonists of Dylan's selection, What We Do In The Shadows (2014). Vampires, Werewolves, laughs, arterial spray, chore wheels, and more are what comprise this bite-sized (pun intended) encapsulation of the mockumentary film, of which Taika Watiti (Taika Watiti) wrote, directed, and starred. It's a shorter offering than most (hence the bite-size pun above), but we're getting back into the groove and I'm sure we'll be back to the insanely long offerings of old in no time. Hellllllooooooo and welcome to SEASON TWO! Holy crap we made it peeps! Well, don't get TOO excited just yet. So this was supposed to be our episode "A", but in true typical File Under fashion, we were not prepared (aka Dylan hemmed and hawed about his artist choice for A, wavering until the last minute not giving Eric enough time to familiarize himself with the songs.) HENCEFORTH, we switch up the release order a bit this first go round, and give you the first in our music interview podcast series, which we are "lovingly" (?) calling "Arts & Crafts Interview Series". This first one is a doozy, with Deathpact Bogart; singer, songwriter, mask enthusiast and pure personality from the band Listen, Natalia.
