Send us a textWhat happens when businesses truly prioritize people over profits? Is it sustainable? Or just idealistic thinking? Dominique Waples, CEO of Restore Medical Spa, dispels the myth that successful scaling requires putting revenue before relationships."Customers are people, employees are people, vendors are people. If you don't understand people, you don't understand business." This guiding philosophy has helped Dominique build a thriving multi-location medical spa over 13 years, but not without significant challenges along the way.The conversation delves into the reality that scaling with a people-first approach is "the long game" – requiring patience, persistence, and significant upfront investment. We explore the post-pandemic reality where employees bring their whole selves to work, and how leaders must balance genuine empathy with business requirements.Dominique vulnerably shares a cautionary tale about how her wildly popular membership program nearly bankrupted her business due to a critical pricing mistake. Despite an incredible 85% conversion rate, they were losing money on every transaction by restricting benefits to their least profitable service. This led to a powerful realization: "Memberships aren't speedboats; they're cruise ships – seemingly small adjustments can have massive impacts."For entrepreneurs considering membership models, Dominique offers invaluable guidance on proper pricing (hint: whatever you think you should charge, add 20%), simplifying options (no more than three tiers), and the benefits of creating a negative cash flow cycle where customers fund operations. She also reveals how personality assessment tools transformed her ability to place team members in roles they naturally excel in and enjoy.Have you considered how a people-first approach might transform your business growth? Share your experiences or questions in the comments and subscribe for more insights on sustainable scaling strategies!
The biggest fear of many people is to feel tied down and restricted by their own memberships They are afraid that they won't have any time off. They're going to be constantly dealing with members, questions and challenges, and it's going to be hard to go about their day, because they're going to be constantly in their membership, serving members. In this episode, we are discussing how you can create a membership model for your business that just keeps rewarding you and enable you to serve your members at a high level while protecting your time, energy and financial resources.Find the full show notes here: https://onlinemarketingpodcast.com/design-a-membership-that-works-for-youResources:Adaptive Marketing Program - The Adaptive Marketing Program is an exclusive opportunity for online business owners, coaches, course creators, and membership site owners to play bigger and bolder in their business and explode their bank account with more clients! For a list of our resources & recommendations visit: https://onlinemarketingpodcast.com/learn-with-paul-melissa/Connect with us on social!Instagram: @realpaulpruitt & @realmelissapruitt Facebook: @realpaulpruitt & @realmelissapruitt

Memberships do not have to be complicated. Seriously! They can be very streamlined, very simple. It all comes down to the promise that you're making. Now, if you have a coaching program, what better thing to put on the back because you know, there's only so many people that are going to keep renewing for another thing, coaching element. But if you had a maintenance program, if you had a back-end membership that gave the opportunity for people to stay connected with you even after that experience, same thing with the course, the natural tension that people have.it's all about the long game. It's having a lifetime value of a client having something where you truly can help people make the transformation that you want for them.Nobody loses, it's a win-win-win all the way around. And the interesting thing is because we're intentional, it doesn't have to be overwhelming. It does not have to be complicated. NEW FORMAT TEST!YO! AJ HERE! It's been a while! I've been thinking about ways to utilize the Directly to You channels in a way that will help grow Re:Direct as a whole and one of the ways I landed on was to start to upload them on the podcast feed & see if it resonates with people while HOPEFULLY not cannibalizing the main bread & butter.HERE'S WHAT I'M THINKING! Every week I (mostly) I upload scripted videos to YouTube in a video essay format - these videos are definitely enhanced with the visual context but they don't necessarily NEED to be consumed in this way so they would be a good fit here.In addition to that, I stream (at least) 3 times a week on Twitch. These streams vary in format and in topic & to be fully transparent in use case. Namely, I started a retrospective series where I am playing through the main series Pokemon games on stream to see if they aged well enough to validate the notion of "Game Freak getting lazy) with the end goal of consolidating that experience and my thoughts on each game into a hybrid format of a stream cutdown, a video review, & a standard Re:Direct video essay. THESE STREAMS do not make sense to upload here because it's a mix of me talking about the game(s) and a bunch of other stuff you need the video and the chat to have context to AND EVEN MORE IMPORTANTLY paid members get access to that sort of ancillary content for main channel videos. These streams don't fit here. HOWEVER there are streams that I do and that I plan to do that are MUCH more podcast-like. Tier Lists, Reactions, Discussions, & things of that ilk will happen on stream as we enter the Switch 2 era & those will show up here.LET ME KNOW THOUGHTS Either in comments of platforms that have them, or on socials, or in the RD Discord. All of which will be link in the shownotes for THIS video/audio log thing below. As far as that is concerned, I'm just gonna copy and paste the description lol.Support Re:Direct through our Memberships &/or Merch!

How to Build a Membership That Fuels Freedom, Stability, and Long-Term Growth If you've ever wondered whether a membership could work in your business model — or if you're still sitting on the sidelines debating when to make the leap — this episode is your permission slip to stop waiting and start validating. Stu McLaren is here for an unfiltered, insight-packed conversation on what's changing in the world of memberships, how to launch one even if you're just starting out, and the fastest path to turning what you know into monthly recurring revenue. This isn't just a pep talk — it's a masterclass in how to build predictability, profitability, and long-term sustainability into your business model. You'll learn why memberships are more relevant than ever (even in the age of AI), how to create real transformation for your customers (not just provide more content), and the exact strategy Stu teaches to validate your idea before you build a thing. Whether you're brand new to memberships or looking to scale your existing one, this episode is packed with innovative marketing strategies, real-world case studies, and mindset shifts to help you grow. HERE ARE THE 3 KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM THIS EPISODE: 1️⃣ Information is everywhere — but implementation is what sets you apart. In the AI era, your value as a course or membership creator comes from helping people apply what they learn and get real results, not just giving them more “how-to” content. 2️⃣ Recurring revenue gives you freedom, confidence, and a business that's worth 8X more. Stu breaks down why predictable monthly income changes everything—from reducing stress to increasing your company's valuation. 3️⃣ You don't need a huge audience to launch. Stu shares the exact “founding member” script and strategy to validate your idea and welcome your first paying members (before you even create a single piece of content!) RESOURCES MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE: Years ago, Stu helped me create a membership that now generates millions in recurring revenue. And it's not just because he's brilliant (though, he is). It's because he truly cares about helping people like you build a business that feels good, works long-term, and gives you the freedom you've been dreaming about. And now? He's teaching a free masterclass called: “3 Secrets to Turn What You Already Know, Love, and Do Into Recurring Revenue” It's happening May 18 at 8pm ET — and whether you're in the beginning stages of your business or you've been building for a while, it's going to be powerful. You don't need to have it all figured out. You just need the next step — and this is it.
