Is there someone in your life that you're having an issue with? I think it's safe to say, we've all been there. While many are quick to post their feelings on the matter on Facebook or Twitter, or type out an angry lengthy email and hit send, pastor Ed Taylor will suggest a much better approach today on Abounding Grace. And that is to go to the person directly, and take it to the Lord. Join us if you would in Second Corinthians chapter thirteen, for a helpful study on how to handle difficulties with others. God has called some to serve full-time in the ministry, but is it ok for them to receive a salary from the people they serve at church? And are there times when the pastor may need to pick up a job on the side to meet their financial needs? We'll talk about that today on Abounding Grace as we near the end of our study in Second Corinthians. One thing that jumps off the page in chapter twelve is the apostle Paul's heart for the people he served. He didn't want to be a burden on them, not seeking what they have, though he gave everything he could to serve them. You can be sure that tough times are on the calendar for each of us… even godly Christians! And at times we may wonder why we're suffering, or why God doesn't remove a painful trial from our lives. Today on Abounding Grace we'll look at Paul's experience with a thorn in the flesh. He was suffering with it for over fourteen years, and asked God repeatedly to remove it. The Lord chose not to for a very good reason. Pastor Ed Taylor says there's something here in this story for us to hold on to, when we encounter difficult times. He's covering Second Corinthians chapter twelve. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/302/29?v=20251111
Many of us have put together a resume in an attempt to land a job. And we typically try to put our best foot forward, and highlight our best qualities. Today on Abounding Grace we'll have you think about your spiritual resume! Maybe like the guy we'll meet today, it's not that impressive by the world's standards. But be encouraged, God can still very much use you. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/302/29?v=20251111
When God uses someone in your life, there can be that tendency within us to want to put them on some sort of pedestal. Because you're thankful. Or let's say the Lord is really using you and blessing your life… and people are thanking and praising you left and right. About that time you're tempted to think of yourself more highly than you ought to. Today on Abounding Grace we'll be encouraged to adopt a perspective modeled for us by the apostle Paul. He was humble, and just saw himself as a servant. He certainly didn't want to draw attention to himself or receive the glory for what God did in and through his life. Pastor Ed Taylor opens Second Corinthians twelve, and urges us to live with that mindset. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/302/29?v=20251111

A police officer wouldn't dream of leaving the office without his or her service weapon. Those in the armed forces wouldn't step into enemy territory without their weaponry. And as believers in Christ, it would be foolish to try to fight our daily battles without the spiritual weaponry that God has provided. God gave us His Son… an indescribable gift which we ought to be eternally grateful for. And today on Abounding Grace we come to realize when we give, we're giving to the God that gave! Pastor Ed Taylor is going to draw out a few valuable principles for giving from Second Corinthians chapter nine. Among the things we'll discuss is how much should we give, and what should our attitude be like when we do. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/302/29
When it comes to giving, many pastors won't touch the subject with a ten-foot pole. That's because many people get agitated or bothered when money is mentioned in the church, or due to negative experiences in the past. But Jesus had no problem talking about it. In fact, he addressed money and stewardship in 16 of his parables. Today on Abounding Grace we're certainly not going to shy away from it as we go verse by verse through Second Corinthians. Chapter nine offers great principles for giving like how we should give and how much. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/302/29
Pastor Ed Taylor is knee deep in his study of Second Corinthians, and here in chapters eight and nine we're taking a little extra time to unpack what the Bible has to say about giving. Martin Luther was heard to say, “I have tried to keep things in my hands and lost them all, but what I have given into God's hands I still possess!” That was the mindset of the people we'll be introduced to today on Abounding Grace as they gave themselves to the Lord. It led to them giving above their ability! To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/302/29
We're talking about giving, the right and wrong way to go about it, today on Abounding Grace. When you give is it out of reluctance, or some sort of obligation? We'll be introduced to a group of Christians that had a much better motivation than that… they gave because they loved the Lord and cared about those around them. They gave liberally, above and beyond their ability! To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/302/29
1. Sin of desire; 2. Sin of deception; 3. Sin of destruction.

You can probably look back on your life and think of quite a number of things that you did in the past that you now regret. Maybe it was using drugs, hanging out with the wrong people, or lying to someone. But God wants us to take it one step further and move from regret to repentance… which is turning from the sin to Christ. Otherwise, we'll just do it again and again and it can be a vicious cycle. Today on Abounding Grace we'll make a return visit to Second Corinthians seven, as pastor Ed Taylor shows us how God wants to change us from the inside out. You can't get too far in life before you realize there's an enemy within. But then to hear there's a way to change – really change. Wow, what a difference that would make! Imagine the possibilities. Open your Bible to Second Corinthians chapter seven and get ready for a wonderful time in the Word here on Abounding Grace. God has called us to be separate from the world and live a life that reflects that we've been saved. We're no longer to be living for ourselves, but rather for the Lord. But as we've been discovering lately, there are some very real worldly influences that we need to be aware of… and know how to navigate through and around them. That comes to our attention in the seventh chapter of Second Corinthians. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/302/29
As you look back on your life, maybe you're ashamed of what you used to be! You lived a life that involved drugs, violence, and you were quick to get angry too. But here's the good news, if you're a Christian, you're no longer identified by your past. You're a new creation in Christ. That's how God sees you, and how you should see yourself. That's our focus today on Abounding Grace. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/302/29
Abounding Grace Pastor James Burke
When we become a new person in Jesus, we not only have heaven to look forward to, but a glorious purpose here on earth. A big part of that involves serving! With that said, there is a right and wrong motive that we need to address. We'll talk about it on today's Abounding Grace. As believers we recognize we're saved by grace through faith, and that's a total work of God. He gets all the glory for that right! But did you realize, your growth and the good in your life, comes from God too? All glory is to go to God, for His work in our lives. Our sufficiency is from the Lord. And that's the emphasis of today's Abounding Grace as pastor Ed Taylor dives back into Second Corinthians chapter three. Young or old, new believer or seasoned saint… you can be confident the Lord wants to use you! And isn't that encouraging? But we need to realize our sufficiency comes from God, and not in and of ourselves. This comes to light through a study in Second Corinthians chapter three, where Paul expresses His sufficiency is in the Lord! Today on Abounding Grace we'll learn more about that. Thisis what we are talking about today as we look at Ephesians 1:7-10: "Inwhom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins according tothe riches of His grace." In the first six verses, we found the blessingswe have from God the Father. In God the Father, we have been chosen. We havebeen adopted into His family. We have been accepted in Christ. Now in theseverses we see the blessings that we have from the Person and the work andministry of Jesus Christ because of His blood. We have been redeemed and wehave been forgiven. We talked about that yesterday. Onething I want to go back to: I mentioned that evidence of our forgiveness is wehave the ability and power to forgive others. And I made the statement that ifwe cannot forgive others, maybe we haven't been forgiven. Now, that doesn'tmean that we are not a believer. It doesn't mean that we're not saved, but itmight mean we have not accepted the forgiveness that we have already in ChristJesus. Some people are forgiven but don't know they're forgiven. They've beenset free, but they don't know they've been set free. How sad. ReadRomans chapters 6, 7, and 8. There we read about the law of sin and deaththat's always pulling us down. But then there's the law of life in Christ Jesusthat we must also understand and accept, and that we believe in and that wewalk in. And when we do that, we're free. And we walk in that law of life inChrist Jesus through a life of humility. That's why so much is made abouthumility in Christ. The humility of Christ. He humbled Himself. We humbleourselves under the mighty hand of God. It is then that we receive the grace ofGod (James 4:6), “God resists the proud, but He gives grace to the humble”. Whenwe receive God's grace, we don't get bitter when people hurt us and they causeus pain. When they offend us. No, we're able to forgive because of humility. Weswallow our pride. We admit our sins, our guilt. Forgiveness is a daily thingfor us. And that is because every day we get our feet dirty in this world. We're human. We don't always respond correctly to the situations and problemsand hurts and challenges that we face and we misstep, and we must come to theLord every day. 1John 1 reminds us that if we say we've not sinned, we are a liar. The truth isnot in us. 1 John 1 is about the assurance in knowing that I'm a child of God andnow that “I can walk in the light as He is in the light, and the blood ofChrist is daily cleansing me from all sin”. And that means I'm forgivingothers also at the same time because of God's wonderful grace. InChrist, we are redeemed and because of that we have been forgiven. And then Paulgoes on in verse 7, to say, "Which He has made to abound toward us inall wisdom and prudence." We have everything we need to live that lifeof abundant life. Jesus said, "The thief came to steal, to kill, and todestroy” (John 10:10). That thief is the devil, and he wants to steal yourjoy. He wants to steal your peace. He wants to steal your walk with God. He's athief. He wants you to be miserable. He wants you to walk in darkness, myfriend. But Jesus came to set you free. And if the “Son sets you free, youwill be free indeed” (John 8:32-26). Youare free to love the Lord, free to love others, free to forgive others becauseyou've been forgiven. This again is a great blessing that we have. And Godgives us this grace. How does He give it? “In all wisdom and prudence”. Thismeans that we know how to respond to the problems in life. And we do itprudently. We do it the right way by the grace of God.Today,be encouraged!!! Deal with bitterness, deal with guilt, ask forgiveness, giveforgiveness, and walk with the Lord today. And what a wonderful life of freedomyou will have and enjoy in Christ today. Godbless!
